I am very lost on where to go. We are in A&E for the 3rd time in 2 weeks. On Monday DD who is 8 started to vomit coffee ground vomit, had an emergency endoscopy they found ulcers and started her on IV medicaion and admission for 3 days, went home, she had 2 days on a drip not able to eat or drink, was back on food and sent home. We lasted 48 hours at home she started vomting blood again back into hospital just spent time in a bed, had 2 bags of drips some tummy protector and anti sickness. Since then she has become so bloated. She was a child who hardly meets the weight scale for her age.

She is back in hospital tonight she is now bleeding from both ends. Her vomit has blood in it and her poo is just blood, she is just lifeless in bed she is not even moving when the doctors and nurses come to see her. She has never ever had bleeding from her bum. Google is scary

Tomselleckhaskindeyes · 20/07/2026 12:53

Sounds like ulcerative colitis to me. It can make you extremely poorly.

WoodGlue · 20/07/2026 12:55

Pearl97 · 20/07/2026 16:37

Sending love. I hope you have support in real life. Please ask people for what you need. People will say shout if you need anything. You need things and make sure you ask. People do want to help, they just don’t know how.

Please don’t be afraid to ask people, they will want to help.

also, please remember to eat and drink. Often parents don’t look after themselves

SurreySenMum26 · 20/07/2026 16:39

Gosh how scary for all of you. I bet you are exhausted. Try to nap if at all possible while she naps.

Did they fix anything or take any samples from the camera? You need to think about how you take care of yourself too as it doesn't sound like she will be sent home in the next 24 hours if she needed the blood transfer..it will take a while for her levels to recover I'd imagine? Can anyone tag team you?

minipie · 20/07/2026 16:44

Gosh poor her and poor you.

I guess they will now test the growths, assume they removed them?

Looks like these can be a sign of ulcerative colitis or Crohns.

Hope you can get a diagnosis soon and start treatment for whatever it is.

Recklessismymiddlename · 20/07/2026 19:41

Hope you get some answers soon 💐

IAmARayOfSunshine · 20/07/2026 21:00

Shoulder hurting will be trapped air from the surgery which is normal but will take time to disappear, it’ll get better as she starts moving.

OP, sending every good wish to you and your DD. Hopefully surgery went well and biopsy will show no strange results and she can get on with healing and getting back to normal.
fingers crossed, you get a little sleep tonight too, you must be exhausted, physically and mentally. Be kind to yourself.

AllLeft · 20/07/2026 22:30

Thank you all. Yes I have lots of support my parents have taken our other 2 kids, and hubby is here too. She has been so unsettled in a lot of pain and vomited twice. She has been asleep maybe the last hour or so

Realisation14 · 21/07/2026 07:14

Good god this is horrific, your poor daughter and the stress you and DH must be under - sending you a big hug and hand hold. Have they said anything about the growth they found on her bowel?

AllLeft · 21/07/2026 19:50

Thank you she has been in bed all day refusing to move with lots of pain, they said it maybe IBD but they need to investigate more. She is very irritable today and had a small bleeed after going to the loo this evening
