Mass on brain 4 month old baby

I don't even know where to start but I took my daughter (4 months) to the GP as she's done this flickering eye roll ever since she was born and they thought it was linked to reflux as did we but they referred us to a paediatrician just to be sure. They did an mri and eeg which showed seizures but found out yesterday that she has a 2cm mass on her brain. I am absolutely devastated and don't know where to go from here. They haven't given an indication as to what they think it is and we are just waiting to hear from them. All I'm thinking is the worst and I can't stop crying. I've been thinking about how I'm going to kill my self when my daughter dies. I feel hopeless and that I don't have the strength to do this. She is my only child and I tried for over 3 years to have her with miscarriages in between. They thought she was missing her cavum during pregnancy so that was traumatic too. I don't know what to do, I can't believe this is happening to us.

Yay!

I had to be on meds for life for my asthma @eastview and other conditions, it's no issue whatsoever, it's easier than brushing my teeth.

I hope they find the best meds for her soon to make her even better. x

Oh OP thanks for the update and I’m happy for you.

one of my DD’s friends has something similar and her issues sound similar and she is on daily medication for it but it otherwise a healthy and thriving child, age 7.

lots of love to you both

Muchtoomuchtodo · 08/12/2022 22:40

That’s great news!
we have a dc on lifelong meds for a thyroid issue and another for asthma. They just accept it. Hopefully the right combination for your dd can be found fairly quickly and you can get back to enjoying her xx

Wishing you all the best.

Have a lovely Christmas with that beautiful daughter of yours.
Such a sweetie.

Well done, mum! You’ve been so strong for her. I’m glad you’ve got some answers and a course of action xx

Benjispruce4 · 09/12/2022 07:01

Oh op it’s such a better outlook than you feared. You will aDjust to the medication situation and who knows what treatment the future holds in her lifetime that may change that?
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas.

rainbowstardrops · 09/12/2022 07:02

Great news! Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 and all best wishes to you all.

SirChenjins · 09/12/2022 08:12

That's great news! I know it's not quite what you wanted but you will adjust to it in time, and (speaking from experience) it'll just become something that you live with. It sounds like they're not overly concerned but are keeping an eye on it just in case, and that's such a good thing. Try not to worry too much - easier said than done, I know! - and enjoy Christmas with her Smile

Thank you so much everyone for your lovely messages. They mean so much to me and I've read every single one. Can't wait to enjoy Christmas with my girl. This looming over my head has been the worst experience ever and I think I need to get some therapy after this because I really did feel helpless and I think once things settle down I'll need to talk it through. I just can't believe that she's going to be ok. Luckily as she's well she thinks every hospital trip is a day out so isn't bothered at all as you can see here. 😂

You might be able to access some specific psychological support for parents without the usual NHS wait via your childrens’ ward/hospital (although I realise stuff like this is very postcode dependent!)

Such a happy little girl, hope you are going to share her Christmas Day outfit with us, her MN Fanclub!

Frasecam · 09/12/2022 09:42

I second the request for a Christmas Day outfit pic! She's absolutely gorgeous, so smiley and happy, and is obviously adored Smile Whoever is knitting her wee cardigans is very talented!

So glad to read your updates. What a happy little girl. Have a wonderful Christmas 😀

Also yes reach out for support. I was a divil for supressing feelings and that is not a good thing!! Maybe there is a support group near by or online where you could talk to others who have been through similar
