Mass on brain 4 month old baby

I don't even know where to start but I took my daughter (4 months) to the GP as she's done this flickering eye roll ever since she was born and they thought it was linked to reflux as did we but they referred us to a paediatrician just to be sure. They did an mri and eeg which showed seizures but found out yesterday that she has a 2cm mass on her brain. I am absolutely devastated and don't know where to go from here. They haven't given an indication as to what they think it is and we are just waiting to hear from them. All I'm thinking is the worst and I can't stop crying. I've been thinking about how I'm going to kill my self when my daughter dies. I feel hopeless and that I don't have the strength to do this. She is my only child and I tried for over 3 years to have her with miscarriages in between. They thought she was missing her cavum during pregnancy so that was traumatic too. I don't know what to do, I can't believe this is happening to us.

Thinking of you all ❤️

I'm so sorry. Get a second opinion privately to speed up the process. Don't lose hope until they tell you what kind of tumour they think it is. Deep breaths.
Have they said where in the brain it is located?

While places in RMH are allocated as to priority need when the House is oversubscribed, you're not ineligible. This priority is based on length or anticipated length of stay, sickest children and distance to the family home.

See what happens today and whether she is going to be admitted now or later, or treated as an outpatient, and then get in touch with them by email or phone, or pop over to see them if there is any slack in your day today or at next visit.

Day passes are available so you can use the facilities even if you are not staying overnight due to lack of room available or any other reason. RM Houses are great. It's important you do look after yourselves and drink, eat and sleep, as treatment may be a marathon not a sprint and she needs you to be healthy for her.

What about Alder Hey children's hospital Liverpool one of the leading children's hospitals in the country. You are not that far away.

PickyEaters · 21/11/2022 14:56

Also, ask your GP to refer to you St Jude's. It is one of the best in the world. I believe they can look at your daughter's scans and give an opinion.

If they accept your DD as a patient there will obviously there be travel costs but the medical treatment is free. x

I hope the scan goes well and that you get some answers. She is a gorgeous little babi .
The Heath is a good hospital and the children’s section is busy but cheerful , I was there overnight with my dd when she was a baby. I will be thinking of you all today .

Thinking of you today.

One thing I picked up on (probably because my ADHD brain takes things too literally) is this comment

The consultant told me yesterday that they weren't rushing because she hasn't collapsed on the floor and they'd prioritise someone who had

I think at that point I would have stood your Dd on the floor and when her legs buckled under her proclaimed she was collapsing on the floor so what was he going to do.

It was a stupid comment but one where it unfortunately rings true

Best of luck today and hope you can get a good and quick plan in place for treatment

I’m so sorry you are going through this, OP.

I live near the grange and wasn’t suprised to hear about the poor care you’ve had there, the place is an absolute shambles. I really hope your beautiful little girl is ok.
