DS sick once in the night, feels fine. Would you send him into school?

DS (6) was sick once in the night then fine, no fever...back to normal. Would you send him into school or keep off for 48 hours?

Is he likely to mention he was sick?

No please don't. Immunocompromised children or family members.

(I'd keep mine off for that reason, although I don't necessarily think they need to be kept off in those circumstances).

I'd probably keep him off. If he's sick again today but fine for the rest of it he could go back in tomorrow. If he's sick in school you will be off tomorrow as well because of the 48 hour rule. I know you are supposed to keep them off regardless for 48 hours but I'm guessing you are not able to take time off work easily?
If you don't work I'd just stay home for the rest of the week.

If no temp, diarrhea, sniffles, cough etc I would send him in. If he’s vomiting from an infection of some description (bug, virus) then there would be other signs. If just a one off vom in the night it’s probably something sat in his stomach his body didn’t want. Or a bad dream etc.

No I wouldn't as it could impact others. Follow the school's guidelines regarding sickness.

No. It's irritating, but no. DD3 was sent home from school on Tuesday because she had diarrhoea. She felt right as rain and has been the picture of health. She only had 2 loose stools, nothing since, but I still kept her off yesterday and she'll go back today (24° policy at her school).

It's frustrating because she missed netball, which she could only restart this week because she broke her finger a few weeks ago, and she missed her rehearsal for her school play, but it's just the way it goes.

Please don’t. I still haven’t met my baby nephew because my dc keep bringing home germs from school. I think we’re just getting over the latest thing. If one of them brought back a sick bug now I’d be so sad... and my situation is much more trivial than anyone with a suppressed immune system or something!

Please don't send him in. I understand it’s hard to cover children’s sickness, especially if you’re a single parent. But every school has children who could be made seriously unwell if your child Comes into school with something they could pass on.

If you disagree with the 48-hour rule, challenge it when your child is well and in school. Otherwise you’ll just come across as only caring about it when it’s inconveniencing you.

Please don't, it's not fair on other children or staff . Our rule is 48 hrs and it really does help things stop spreading if people actually keep their children home.

Senior school definitely, well ours encourage it.
First, depends on why if he ate loads of junk and then was sick or has a bad cough then yes, for no reason I'd keep him home.

Give him some breakfast and see if he keeps it down.

Unless you are 100% sure it's nothing explainable (one of mine gets car sick and I don't keep him off for that), I'd keep him off today but if he's absolutely fine and bounces around all day, I'd send him in tomorrow.
