DS (6) was sick once in the night then fine, no fever...back to normal. Would you send him into school or keep off for 48 hours?

@rosebb1 glad to hear. Hope he's feeling better soon

Keep him off. There is a 48 hour rule for very good reason.

Please DO NOT send him. My DD (age 10) has suffered so much from children coming back to her school sick.

A garden variety sickness bug for her isn't the usual 2-3 days of hell. Its MONTHS. She had a lot of tummy issues as a baby, in and out of hospital for first 2 years including having to take steroids for months. Whilst most of it is now resolved, a sickness bug sets her right back.

Last one took caused 3 weeks off school, an A&E admission for dehydration followed by 2-3 months of Proton Pump Inhibitors to get the residual inflammation under control. 5 months in total before she was feeling 'normal' again. Longer to regain the masses of weight she lost. The other kids in her class who caught it were back at school after 3 days, right as rain.

Please, please, please spare a thought for the children who don't feel better the next day or get over it in a couple of days. It's incredibly selfish to put other children and their families at risk.
