Appendicitis??

My DD has abdominal pain 10 days ago(rolling around in pain) visit to walk in said her bowel sounded quite active & to expect vomiting as they thought it was a tummy bug. Pain settled later that day no vomiting.
Fast forward 8 days vomited 3 times bit of tummy ache.
Yesterday worsening pain moving to right side.
Today we've now had our 2nd visit to hospital(1st being last night) they admitted her for 6 hours today. Scan showed nothing but apparently wouldn't always with appendicitis. She's come home in worse pain than she went it but because they can't tell for sure they've sent us home again. Said I can observe her at home & bring her back if no better/worse.
Has anyone had similar experience?
I obviously don't want her to to have op unless it's necessary but just wondering how long they'll leave her like this until they do anything?

I'm so glad she's more comfortable, I really feel for her, she's been through the wringer a bit, hasn't she? (as have you).

Fingers crossed for a clearer diagnosis.

Keep us posted, hope you get some sleep, I know it's a premium on hospital wards but there's lot if poorly people to cater for.

Still thinking of you Flowers

Watcher we have kept on at them I "politely declined" to take her home yesterday. She was at the time still nauseous & hadn't drunk enough to show to me she wasn't going to start vomiting again. They did further scan & that seems to have found the culprit .sorry to hear you've had a similar experience. Did they manage to diagnose your DD in the end?
Ron thanks for all your kind messages. The swollen glands seem to have been the cause. Pain has settled enough that she no longer needs iv painkillers. She hasn't vomited & is drinking ok.
We are going home today. I have a low threshold for bringing her back if she becomes poorly again. Looking forward to our own beds. The ward wasn't too noisy all private rooms so we had a fairly decent sleep last night less interruptions compared to the previous night
Fingers crossed I won't see here for a long time!! X X

Swollen glands cause sickness and stomach pain? Wouldn't appendicitis put her glands up anyway?

I'm so glad she's better and that you're going home. Fingers crossed she's over it.

And yes, enjoy your own beds. I bet you sleep like a log! Smile

RonSwansonsBestFriend · 29/08/2016 08:29

How are you both? Really going DD is much better

Have they ruled out Crohns disease? My friend was diagnosed with this recently
Thankfully she managed to get a referral through Bupa. The NH'S weren't interested at all.
Sounds horrible for her poor wee soul. Hope it's better soon. x

AMR123456 · 29/08/2016 12:14

She's still got pain & not eating much but has bit more colour today. We're both tired but glad to have slept in own bed.
Lucky she doesn't really have symptoms of chrohns apart from the pain so they don't think it's that. If it persists DH bupa will cover her & we'll get referral

How is she today? Any progress ?

AMR123456 · 30/08/2016 17:25

She's looking the best she has in a while. Still bit of pain but getting better than it was not constantly dosing her up with pain medication anymore. She still hasn't got her appetite back. She needs feeding up before school starts next week!!

Sorry, been away! Glad she's on the mend.

How is she now, eating?

AMR123456 · 03/09/2016 09:33

Hi Ron she is a lot better thank you. Still very tired a little discomfort rather than pain. Still not eating normally just waiting for her appetite to kick in. Her best friend had been on holiday for 3 weeks & she's now back & they've spent last 3 days together so that's cheered DD up X X

So the pain still persists though not as bad as beforeHmmDD is not eating properly either so I've got GP to refer her to a gastro consultant so just waiting on that
