Hi all!
made the original claim for DLA back in October… scan date 22/11 … I’ve since phoned as my DD has been diagnosed with cancer.. does anyone have any info on whether the decision will take longer now I’ve added a new illness to the list? TIA

I think it will be on a priority list now x

If it's under the special circumstances x

@Taffylass72 I'm so sorry to hear this. That's awful! Big hugs.
I would speak to someone at DLA about it. Depending on your daughters prognosis, it's could be that she falls into the special rules category in which they then prioritise and speed up the process to within a matter of 2 weeks. But I'm not 100% sure how it would work if it was a new treatable diagnosis if you see what I mean?
Good luck lovely x

It’s a bit of a difficult one to say at the moment, although it’s been a confirmed diagnoses in one area I’m still waiting for results for other areas, so at the moment things for her are looking positively treatable but still unsure on these other results, which is why I’m finding it difficult to discuss with dla. I suppose I will just phone them tomorrow and discuss all that I’ve been told by doctors x

Shaf89 · 17/03/2024 08:23

@Taffylass72 i don’t think a new diagnosis or extra evidence will delay the claim.
also a few of us in here with the same date as yours heard our decisions at the end of last week. They may have already awarded you also. Maybe call up Monday and find out?

Shaf89 · 17/03/2024 08:25

@Emma2345 @Margot82x
i have no idea how the UC stuff works. I submitted the change of circumstances and wrote in journal. Then called and asked if it’s all done right. will keep u both updated if I hear.

Margot82x · 17/03/2024 08:58

@Emma2345 @Shaf89 I’ve done the same report change of circumstances and wrote on journal to say why it’s ‘late notice’, I did do it on Friday afternoon too, hopefully hear from them this week, praying it’s not as long as a wait as we’ve had! Xx

Shaf89 · 17/03/2024 09:07

@Margot82x @Emma2345 i think it shouldn’t be as bad as the DLA. But the backpay may be delayed as that needs to go to a decision maker?
im just going off what I have been reading on these forums and what the lady on the fone said.
sounded like the change will get applied for the future months quite easily, but the backpay will have to be approved and accepted reasons then calculated etc…

Gemmaoscar · 17/03/2024 10:04

I updated uc on the 5th of March the new elements were all put in place but trying to get a response about back pay is awful they ignore all messages think u have to keep going on at them to get things moving x

Thanks for that. I guess we should be grateful that one part of it gets sorted? Let us know when you manage to get the backpay and if u find any ways of getting them to do it faster lol

Yes I'd definitely give them a ring first thing tomorrow and discuss your options with them, but it shouldn't delay your current claim I don't think. Obviously if things change, and heaven forbid its worse then it would be a coc but with priority I should imagine. Good luck to you and your daughter and hope all goes OK for her xx

Gemmaoscar · 17/03/2024 11:51
