Does this mean my daughters claim ends in July? When would I need to request the form to carry the award on? Also would we been entitled to carers element, I'm on lcwra and partner works seasonally March-Nov. Thankyou

It does look like it's been awarded for a year, yes.

I'm not sure as I've only ever had letters about PIP, but does it not say on another part of the letter exactly how long it's been awarded for. (I think the first page usually confirms dates awarded)

They really should make it clearer.

Moonandstars83 · 20/01/2024 15:11

Well I've finally heard. We recieved a letter with a big fat decline. Going to do a MR, but don't have long as letter was dated the 14th and I have to do MR within a month of then. I've got the biggest of headaches and really can't face doing it right now. Gutted for my boy.

I think thos is what will hwppen to me , i called yesterday and told still woth decisuin maker , but uts been with them since last thursday .. so i suspect they are just not telling me over the phone and il get a letter with the decline , i could understand the delay if they were contacting the school bit they havent . My scan date is 6th sep and seeing award from 19 th sep have answers already , with they would jusy say on the phone if its declined already . Did u call at all after the 14th? Seems they spin lies to people so im waiting a letter as i dont trust what im told on the phone anymore ! Im sorry u were declined and id defo do a mr . I was also told its not uncommon to decline the first my fri3nd was declined then given high rate on both how that can happen i dont know cus he had high care needs and high mobilty needs woth all the evidence yet still declined first go , dont give up mamma !

Dally23 · 20/01/2024 15:18

I’m so sorry , all that waiting time and stress people go through it’s not good enough . When was your original scan date ?
Dont give up , appeal once the upset has subsided a little .

Emma2345 · 20/01/2024 15:38

@Anne92 yes that’s similar to my sons i was awarded only for a year too till this march we applied march 2023 and a decision was made July we recieved the forms for renewal / to reapply October they automatically come a few months before the award ends asking you to apply again if you still wish to claim dla I didn’t have to request forms they came automatically so I’m sure they will for you too x

Moonandstars83 · 20/01/2024 15:53

Scan date was 7/9.
I've been trying to contact them for days now but kept getting cut off. I'm not going to do MR over the phone, I'm going to put it all in writing. I don't know why I'm so annoyed to be honest. My oldest child was born with horrid brain damage, tube fed, oxygen dependent, blind, non verbal, relied on 24 hour care due to uncontrolled epilepsy. Countless medications several times a day, nursing care at home, suction machine and nebulisers. Our home resembled a hospital and due to his needs he was too risky for school.... he was declined DLA 3 times! He passed away in 2014 aged 7.. Whoever is sat looking at these forms really don't have the faintest idea of what life is like for parents. The whole system is a mess. Rant over

mumto3withasd · 20/01/2024 16:08

does anyone know where i can find a template for smi rules, and if the claim is successful but you do a MR because you dont agree do you still get paid the original award until the MR is complete or do they stop payments all together?

Sunshinesun · 20/01/2024 16:18

Does anyone know if they pay backpay payments on every day of the week or is it specific days x

Dally23 · 20/01/2024 16:21

That’s absolutely not acceptable ! They should have been taken to court for that! How can they possibly have refused that poor little boy ! Disgusting !
I’m so sorry to hear all this ! They obviously are not looking at these claims properly ! Just awful :(

TanSav95 · 20/01/2024 16:38

Can anyone help? We had this letter today in UC journal but no mention of how much is owed or when it will be paid (it’s the backdating of disabled child element)

I’ve had the same through late on Friday, so I’m guessing my work coach was waiting for the decision maker to accept the reason and then the work coach will calculate how much and make the payment? It says the change will be shown in the monthly statement so I’m wondering if I’ll get the back pay on my next payment day

TanSav95 · 20/01/2024 17:06

I think that’s what will happen, I’m sure with my son once the work coach had calculated it and put another letter in my journal, then the money went into my account within 3-5 days. I’m unsure tbh it was that long ago but I’m sure that’s how it works x

Skelly201 · 20/01/2024 18:47

@tiredmum1989 i received my updated statements a few hours after that message , hopefully yours comes soon x

Geegee1506 · 20/01/2024 20:55

Hi maybe silly question but you know once you get awarded and receive your back pay, how do you know when your actual payment date will be?

WhereDidTheTimeGo888 · 20/01/2024 21:00

@Moonandstars83 I didn’t want to read your msg and not reply. I don’t know really what to say apart that you’ve been treated so appallingly. It’s so wrong that people who have no idea look at these forms. I’m so sorry for your loss. Xx

I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with all this’ the system is broken! It’s a disgrace

Mummytoviboys · 20/01/2024 23:09

@Moonandstars83
my boy was declined this week too!
waiting for the letter for reasons!
I’ve printed off the MR form so waiting for the letter!
it’s been so draining hasn’t it, I’m so disappointed!
I filled out the form when he was 5 months old and can’t remember what I put!
he’s got a genetic disorder, visually impaired and has no pigmentation which means he can’t go outside unless protected from the UV and high risk for skin cancers!
maybe we had the same decision maker?!
my older boy has exact same conditions and care needs and was awarded at the same age!
im sorry to hear what you went through previously with your oldest x

Hope962 · 21/01/2024 16:22

Anxiety waiting still my scan date was 11/09

20 weeks tomorrow.

Has anyone had any news on there claim yet with a similar scan date as mine. Please

BrizzleMum84 · 21/01/2024 16:45

@Hope962 my scan date was 15/9 and I rang up Friday and found out I had been awarded the day before. So I was 18 weeks exactly and they said I should expect my back pay on Wednesday (I think this is the day they make payments, each Wednesday)

Give them a call tomorrow as I had no text to say I'd been awarded and I've seen alot of people find out they've been awarded just by money being in their bank accounts.

Goodluck 🤞🏽❤

Dally23 · 21/01/2024 17:24

My date 15/9 too heard nothing !

Aussielover · 21/01/2024 17:48

@mumto3withasd I'd like to know the same if payments continue......x would also love support with answering smi criteria because I know my child meets it, just dont know how to collect evidence and explain it x

Aussielover · 21/01/2024 17:52

How do you do a change of circumstances because I've had my sons dla since he was 1, does not run out until next year but he's now able to apply for mobility as he will be 3 in April, do I also ask for an extension at this point what do you think @Ilovemychildren123 ? X I'll be applying until smi criteria x

Ilovemychildren123 · 21/01/2024 17:59

@Aussielover you will need to call them and ask for the COC form, unless you already get HRC and then they will automatically send out forms for mobility when your child is almost 3. I had to complete a COC which took 25 weeks and they upped from MRC to HRC but refused mobility so then I did an MR for the mobility so it depends what rate you are on now x

Mojo161989 · 21/01/2024 18:16

I'm currently waiting for an MR decision, as my son meets SMI criteria, it's been 9 weeks this week coming since I started the MR so hoping to hear back soon, it's such a stressful process been waiting over half a year now so hoping this won't need to go to tribunal. Xox

Loumumoftwo · 21/01/2024 19:17

@TanSav95 sorry this is a bit of a late reply but you will receive another letter in your journal with the backdated amount. This was within a few hours of the first letter for me but there may be a delay for you with it being the weekend. I received my letter on a Thursday and payment was in my bank on the Monday so 3 working days x
