morning
my whole house stikns of burning today - my dd made popcorn yesterday to eat while we all watched "stardust" - while she made it i walked the dog with ds - as i left i said "right you know what you're doing - DP is in frontroom if you need any help"
come back to open windows and doors and the most awful stench and my pasta pan burnt to within an inch of it's life

dd was fine but burst into tears as soon as i opened my mouth - and i was being nice and concerned - grrrrr. . . .

rant over

crace · 03/03/2008 07:59

Good luck today EM! I am sure it will go great.

Violet, oh your poor dd. I am sure she was gutted.

STILL have our colds, despite having 2 hour naps each day over the weekend I am shattered. Take it "easy" today as much as you can with 3 toddlers.

Morning all!

morning all!

Good luck with the 11yr old EM. I'm sure it will be fine

Oh dear vInTaGeVioLeT! If you want to get rid of the smell, strike a match - it's meant to get rid of almost any smell!

Oh dear Crace. Sorry to hear that you still have your blasted cold. Hope your day is ok.

Welcome in mindingmum

I am having a measuring theme today! Staying in as one of mindees had a bump on the head at the weekend so said we would just stay put today and do things here this morning. So, going to do a big measuring chart with height and weight and their pictures on it. And Then making rock cakes and going to let them measure out the ingredients

mindingmum · 03/03/2008 08:18

Oooh now theres an idea belle

See I don't have to do any planning for this weeks activities, i can just chat on MN all day and steal everyone elses!

southernbelle77 · 03/03/2008 08:21

Well I don't have any other plans for the week Only decided on it last night when got a call from mindees parents about the bump!! And I know it will keep them all amused while we are in!!

I'm a little concerned about my lack of planning come September when EYFS comes into place but I'm just going to deal with that when it comes and for now enjoy being spontaneous

MaureenMLove · 03/03/2008 08:23

Morning all and welcome MM . You may be my replacement, I find out about that job today girls. Not even sure I want it now! I'm thinking better the devil you know for a little bit longer! I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't take the first job that comes along, maybe I should go primary school age first. Oh god, its gonna be a long day. I need to make a decision today too, if I am offered it. Start date is one month from today, so notice needs to go home tonight!

eleanorsmum · 03/03/2008 08:46

oh my mlove - everything crossed for you! (if you want them crossed that is, which i'm sure deep down you do!) my dh is secondary teacher and i do wonder about the age group some days but he';s about to apply for another job in THE best school in the town whcih is about 25 miles nearer to home!

mindee squeeled when he saw me this morn - so pleased to be here to play today!

and this month all mindee parents have actually paid on time! miracels do ahppen!

MaureenMLove - good luck with outcome of your interview. Getting shortlisted and interviewed is an achievement in itself

Booh · 03/03/2008 09:27

Morning all

Already on third coffee and having biccies this morning - really hacked off with whole EYFS and Ofsted

HAve a great day!

MaureenMLove · 03/03/2008 09:49

Ummmm - so do I want this job or not then? Its mine if I want it - just had the call. Start date 21st April, so don't actually need to give notice today!

eleanorsmum · 03/03/2008 09:55

wow congrats! time to sit down and write a list of why you went for it in the first place! good one for getting the first job! but as you said you don't need to take the first one on offer, have you seen any others advertised?

just been to docs to tell i'm expecting, she was really nice and pleased for us which was great (when i was first preg with dd my doc then, before we moved, the first question out of her mouth was 'do you want to keep it?' so not impressed with her! long sotry but hey!) anyway have to go back and collect an antenatal pack on wednesday and the for blood tests and to see midwife next week. all very exciting!

Congrats Mo! Go on give us the pros and cons

crace · 03/03/2008 10:31

Hi there mindingmum, booh, SB, SM, and EM!

Thanks for the sympathy girls, we think it's a back to back cold as I was starting to get better over the weekend. I really really want a nap Dh is home today ill, and I am SO jealous - wish I could have called out sick today! We just can't really in this job can we? Even more jealous as dd went up to lay down with her daddy and I bet it will be warm and cuddly up there. Though, I bet the neighbours will hear their snoring - DH is awful and dd snores when she is ill.

LoveMyGirls · 03/03/2008 10:40

Really quick - Baby (8mths) came this morning, mum warned his nappies are loose (he had 1 loose one with me last week too so i'm assuming its teething?) thing is he has had diahorrea twice this morning I've just put the last clean set of clothes on him. Once was all up his back the 2nd was soaked through his clothes (yuck!)

WWYD? What if I run out of clothes?

crace · 03/03/2008 11:02

Ick, LMG - I would send home actually - that's obviously something else going on.

LoveMyGirls · 03/03/2008 11:15

Thing is he seems happy enough and I hate sending them home and if it is just teething then it's not like its contagious. On the other hand he has been like this since last week, I think i'd been taking him to the doctors by now so maybe see how he is and if he keeps doing it send him home and ask mum to take him to the doctors? If he does it again I'm going to have to ask mum to at least come out of work on her lunch break to fetch more clothes for him.

mumlove · 03/03/2008 11:29

Morning everyone.
Just a quick pop in before I need to start thinking about getting coats on for the preschool pick up. Nappy to change first though!
1 of my mindees is ill today he wasn't well on friday when I had him, so nanny took him to the dr's on way home and he has an ear infection in both ears, poor lad .

Mo - excellent, let us know what you decide.
EM - hope all goes well.
mindingmum - welcome .
LMG - send baby home.

A big hello to everyone else, must go now.

vInTaGeVioLeT · 03/03/2008 11:57

my house still stinks!!!
and i'm still soaking ans scrubbing my saucepan!!!!

mindee 1 has suspected conjunctivitus - yuck - not 100% sure it is though and it seems on the mend anyway.Have kept her home from group/nursery anyway - saves my legs till school run!

MaureenMLove · 03/03/2008 12:13

Right, back from library time and mindee is having a nap before lunch, so time to think.

Pros
Get rid of all mindee stuff in house!
Thats a whole list of pros in itself!

Hours are 8.45 - 2.55. 10 mins from home in rush hour. Leave after DD and back before her.

All holidays off and paid.

Cons
Teenagers.
Difficult if dd is ill Although nanny is retired and I could pop home at lunch time and DH works from home and local a lot.

Complete change of career. No idea what I'm doing!

Money OK, not much more that I can get now.

Got to let parents down. Really nervous to tell the one I've got today.

What do I do about OFSTED? Do I need to tell them. How do I wrap up this business?

fruitloop79 · 03/03/2008 12:52

LoveMyGirls · 03/03/2008 13:05

No more since the 2nd one, baby is asleep now (and my dd) baby is going at 2.30 via the doctors and his uncle is bringing some spare clothes round for him so not going too badly now.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 03/03/2008 13:10

That's alright then.

Teethy nappies are the work of the devil
