Any idea how long they last?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 03/03/2008 13:26

As long as the child is mega-dribbling, ime LMG

My theory, totally non-scientific, is that they swallow loads and loads of dribble, the equivalent of drinking masses of water, which has an laxative effect, hence loose poos.

mo - can you take a "career break"? why not take the job for a term and see how you like it - i wouldn't inform ofsted as if it doesn't suit it will be a big ole hassle re-registering , also you could still mind adhoc in holidays and by special arrangement - at the moment ofsted registration is still under £20 and insurance £35(mine anyway) so it's not a lot to pay out to stay registered and keep your options open - as for the piles of c/m equipment - chuck it in the garage?

congratulations on getting the new job by the way

KatyMac · 03/03/2008 13:44

Violet is a genius - do you get school holidays?

You could mind school hols (& maybe even occasionally after school)

Mum2Luke · 03/03/2008 13:44

Anyone get pampered yesterday? I had my lunch cooked for me but I still had to sort washing and do ironing. I went to aquafit class in the afternoon, first visit to gym for ages!

Had quite good wkend, took ds (5) to see his fav footy team play against Wigan - we drew. Got soaked getting back home waiting for buses on saturday night in pouring rain is not much fun.

No mindee till school time, not seen Mum at school tho so presume he's in, took car in again to garage to have light fixed (am getting 2 be regular customer at the mo!). Had lady with 18 mth old on Friday come see me, I think I impressed her. I had another call this am from another lady with 3 yr old, at last, work is picking up! Ds said yesterday he's glad I'm a cminder so i don't have to go out to work and leave him - ahhh sweet!

BoysAreLikeDogs · 03/03/2008 13:44

A perfect solution, VV

MaureenMLove · 03/03/2008 13:49

Mmmm, I could I suppose. I have a feeling though, once I'm out, I'll stay out! The garage is a workshop sadly, so no room for my stuff. Its loft or nothing and there's already piles of stuff in there.

One of my mindees mums has just phoned to ask if I can accommodate a 3rd day a week! Typical! I'll have to make the decision by Wednesday now and go and talk it out with mindees parent. I just what to get the official offer, which they said they were sending today, so that I can really work out the figures.

southernbelle77 · 03/03/2008 13:55

Wow, well done Mo! I think you'll take it

Hi everyone! Sorry not had time to read in detail.

made cakes and are yummy! Only me and mindee1 at home now and mindee asleep so going to go eat some lunch!

Back later

crace · 03/03/2008 14:08

Mo, VV's solution a good one. I would hang onto it - think how hard that stuff is to replace and you may want to get back into it someday. Smart idea to just go through it all, get it down on paper and go from there. You have a little time to decide.

SB - how do make/what are rock cakes??

Hi fruitloop!

M2L - that sounds lovely, definitely what you wanted eh when starting up? Must be glad to be appreciated.

KatyMac · 03/03/2008 14:29

HJow much stuff would you have to keep for school age (which is what we are talking about)

southernbelle77 · 03/03/2008 14:38

Rock cakes are cakes that are hard(ish) on the outside but still soft(ish!) on the inside! Made with flour, butter, sugar, raisins, and an egg!

MaureenMLove · 03/03/2008 14:47

Lego, which I would NEVER throw away anyway! Pens and paper stuff.

I don't think it would work tbh. I couldn't do the morning run, so my main schooly would need to go elsewhere. Also, do I really want to work with teenagers all day and then revert back to 8 year olds after I've been in the classroom all day? afterall, MY dd is at secondary school, so I don't need to do primary kids in my house at all.

No, nice thought, but I think its got to be all or nothing.

vInTaGeVioLeT · 03/03/2008 14:51

then i think you should just go for it maureenMlove - sounds like your mind is made up

don't envy you giving the notice but i'm sure that although very sad to lose you they'll be happy for you.

fransmom · 03/03/2008 14:54

hi mo!!! congrats on new job in order? i'm not going for cm job anymore, far too many in my neck of woods, not financially viable atm anyway so maybe i shouldn't be in here.......

MaureenMLove · 03/03/2008 14:55

Yeah, you're right. Its only the notice thing that's holding me back! Its a dog eat dog world and thats all there is to it.

MaureenMLove · 03/03/2008 14:56

Hi FM. I'll get my marching orders into the big girl staff room soon too!

fransmom · 03/03/2008 14:57

for mo

crace · 03/03/2008 15:05

Always welcome in the Staff room! Past experiences will always be appreciated!!

MaureenMLove · 03/03/2008 16:02

Thanks FM!

This wasn't what I was looking for on the internet, but I thought you might like to see how many policies these cm's think you should have!

looneytune · 03/03/2008 16:07

Just popped on quickly whilst kiddies having their snacks as wanted to see how Mo got on.

WELL DONE!!!! I KNOW you want to stop the CM so it's really down to this job or the next I suppose......go with your instincts once you've got the full details! Congrats again!

Hopefully be back later

Hi to everyone else

crace · 03/03/2008 16:10

Meant to post this earlier: easter ideas

ROSEgarden · 03/03/2008 16:20

playing devils advocate, but dont just take the job cos its been offerd..if they want you, someone else will too..dp had the same problem few weeks ago, he decided agianst taking said job and is now glad he didnt as the cons outweighed the pros and he was only gunna go cos he was fed up were he is..make sure its right for you Mo, then if you still think so then go for it..do whats best for you and if sticking put for a while is that, then do it, but if you think this job is right go for it, but dont undermine yourself..good luck making the decision chick.xx

MaureenMLove · 03/03/2008 18:50

You're so right girls. I will think very cafefully about this job, when I've got all the details. Hopefully they'll come tomorrow. Its just a bit like, 'oh, this is my comfort zone!' I've done this for 12 years nearly and frankly its easy!

mumlove · 03/03/2008 19:10

Can I have some advice please, WWYD if 1 of your mindees parents phoned to say that mindee has slapped cheek?

Would you take them or say they are ill and need to stay home. I will be going to toddler group tomorrow with another 2 mindees.
Thankyou all for reading.

ROSEgarden · 03/03/2008 20:20

dunno Mumlove to direct gov have sugegstions? id be inclined to say no to them coming?

but what do i know...apparently im now a predjudiced, small minded guide dog hating bitch!..so id better keep my useless and 'wrong' opinions to myself in future!
