Morning shosha. When I do something like that with ds it lasts 4 and a half minutes... so what else have you got planned?

P.S. What no food?

shoshalite · 14/11/2007 07:54

We are doing a BIG winter Display, I have a display board in my hallway, and we do little bits each week to add to it, I took off the fire works bits last night, and will start to add Christmas bits to it now, going to cut out a Christmas tree and give them lots of green fabric bits to stick on it.

We also did handprints in scola on monday, which are now dry and set, so will paint them with gold paint to give to Mummies for Christmas.

Good idea about the hand prints, think i'll do that with mine later on.

I've woken up with a bad headache and tummy pains, mindee has arrived with 5 pull ups for a 10 hour day

Katymac · 14/11/2007 08:09

Poor you - sorry you are poorly LMG

I don't really do craft much Shosh, that sounds very impressive

I'm with SM - I want food (actually I don't I feel kinda queasy)

dmo · 14/11/2007 08:13

3 under 20mths are you mad?????????
your very good to be getting all your art work done
have a lovely day

MaureenMLove · 14/11/2007 08:17

Morning all. I got all my Christmas makey stuff out on Monday. I haven;t actually looked through the bag yet, but the thought is there!

I've got a bee in my bonnet today. Don't know why I care really, its not gonna be my problem for toomuch longer, but still.

Mindee has just asked for something to eat. He usually has his brekkie at home or if he's ruinning late, brings it in a box. If he does bring it, its usually cocopops or something chocolatey. So, today he wants feeding, my choice of cereal is weetabix, puffed wheat, shreddies etc. Doesn't want any of it. So I offer, yoghurts, fruit juice, fruit. Nope, he wants none of it, I don't like it he whines. He didn't even want a bit of toast because he doesn't eat brown bread!

The point I'm making is, how the hell to Ofsted expect me to feed this child good, healthy food, when his mother sends a pile of crap food with him and he won't try anything? He brings auwful micro food for dinner too!

This is a rhetorical question, you don't need to find the real answer, just share in my misery!

shoshalite · 14/11/2007 08:18

I love art work, big table with plastic cover lots of ice cream tubs with bits in them and a huge piece of sugar paper, they love doing it.

Got some rubber material at the scrap store so made toe legnth coveralls will them red for food grey for art, makes it so easy

shosha - have you ehard from your brother? is he ok?

MaureenMLove · 14/11/2007 08:21

I made aprons out of a cheap shower curtain! Just folded it in half length ways and cut a simple tabbard shape out. No sewing required and I think I got about 5 out of 1 curtain. Curtain was from Poundland, so thats not bad value I thought!

MaureenMLove · 14/11/2007 08:26

Right, I'm off to do the school run, then I'm going to restock my winter warbrobe with jumpers! Only schoolies today, so I'm free as a bird! I descovered I've only got 2 jumpers, so I need more, its getting a bit john willie round 'ere! Got my Timberlands out today, so winter is officially here!

looneytune · 14/11/2007 08:33

Morning all.

Shosh - that sounds cool with the scrap.

LMGs - sorry not feeling well.

Right, must rush ds to get ready for school as we're supposed to be leaving now but he's still in his spiderman suit and eating breakfast and need to change him and brush his teeth!!

After dropping him off I'm on my own til 11.30 then just us too til 2.45 (sisters both got the bug now).

I'm going to be doing my accounts (and eating!) but I'm sat here smelling sick so must scrub things AGAIN too!! (I thoroughly cleaned with dettol disinfectant, how the hell do I make the smell go???

Oh....had midwife yesterday so all starting to feel a bit more real

Catchya later!

LoveMyGirls · 14/11/2007 08:35

I sympathise MML.

I'm working really hard with mindee on food and speech and it's really hard going and draining but now his mum is wanting me to potty train as well. I'm really feeling under pressure and strain this week I think thats why my head hurts, found it really hard to switch off last night so ended up lying awake for ages so i'm tired now too!

FeelingOld · 14/11/2007 08:57

Morning all, sitting here with my coffee and bagel cos dh has done school run today cos don't have first mindee til 9.30 (virtually unheard of) so have had a lovely relaxing shower and feel ready for the day ahead (am working til 6.15).
Hope everyone has a good day

FeelingOld · 14/11/2007 09:06

shosha - sorry, can I just ask where you get your scola from, I can't find anyone near me that sells it and if you buy it online postage is quite expensive. Thanks x

dmo · 14/11/2007 09:29

maureen ofsted dont care what parents send you must educate the parent!

i have a little boy who has fits due to his temp his mum would sned in bottles of juice as he would not/could not use a cup
it went on my report as an action as i should not have listened to the parent parent even wrote to ofsted but they dont give a toss

looneytune · 14/11/2007 09:47

Mo - just saw your bit, very hard isn't it!! I had 2 brothers like that once whose mum would send all sorts of crap for them to eat (and she was ex childminder!). I'd not give any to the 18 month old but it was so hard for the older brother as he knew it was in the bag!!!

dmo - That's well out of order and they are taking things too far!! Most parents would be well offended if we told them what they can and can't bring!!

I've done another bug thread if anyone fancies giving me advice

Saz73 · 14/11/2007 09:57

I'm dreading my next inspection as I care for a 14 mth old 4-5 days mum sends him with a mixture of homecooked food, ready dinners and chips, nuggets etc to cook for him and not to mention the biscuits. Mum preferes to send his food as we've had this conversation. Ofsted will have a field day with me!!!

dmo · 14/11/2007 10:21

dont worry Saz all ofsted inspectors are different and look for different things

BoysAreLikeReindeer · 14/11/2007 10:31

Morning all !

I've brought flapjack

My week is all gone to pot, just 1 mindee today, they are late dropping off but have the great excuse of new baby (she is just yum). It kind of impinges on my planning but it won't be long until back to normal, so I am just enjoying a bit of free time.

Mindees 2 and 3 not here this week, mum having a few days leave.

I'm planning to make mindees prezzie bags over the next week
Sponge print large sheets of paper with Christmassy shapes - angel/tree/snowman/the man in the red suit/pudding. Then my DP (engineer) will fold/stick them into prezzie bags. Too complicated for me

looneytune · 14/11/2007 10:50

Yum, thanks for the flapjack

Well I now have NO mindees today! Pre-schooler went to school and decided she wanted a mummy day and cried and had a paddy fit apparently - not like her at start of the day, she's such a confident girl! I think she's run down, she goes to bed so late for a nearly 4 year old. Anyway, that's me being 'mum' today and not 'childminder' - how strange!!!

And.....just had a phone call and looks like a have a new boy (6) starting next Wednesday. Mum is meeting me on Monday but pretty said she'd like me to start next Wednesday. It's only on Wednesday's and for 1 hour from 4.30-5.30, I explained it's the time I do dinner etc so he'd have to free play and she was fine as it's only an hour. Basically she's on a course and her friend has let her down. She asked my charges and I said I'm £3.80 an hour, normally charge minimum of 2 hours but tbh, I don't get many calls for over 5's and if I do, it's for the wrong school so I don't mind this for the usual £3.80 a day. I'd like to gently start with older children anyway so it's all good practice I did tell her if I get an enquiry for longer, all week etc then I'd have to charge her 2 hours a time and she was fine.

Right.....20 mins til I need to leave to get ds and I haven't even started my accounts! Have dettol sprayed all sofa, cushions, carpet etc. so at least that is done (windows open - it stinks in here!!!)

Catch you all later

SweetSnowflake · 14/11/2007 11:00

quicky before i pick mindee up..Loony try bicarb, sprinkle it on, it absorbs the sick/wee/poo smell..BELIEVE ME!, we had them all ehre!

looneytune · 14/11/2007 12:13

Oh, thanks, will try that next time. Seems ok since I sprayed dettol spray everywhere, fingers crossed it stays that way!!

shoshalite · 14/11/2007 12:39
