Morning all. My son is still asleep YAY! He's been 5.30am for ages.

Crumpets again today I think.

Why has it been so quiet recently? Are you all hibernating?!

morning, i've been watching these staff rooms for a while - am about to start minding! you all seem like great fun and very friendly! hope i can join you!

quick question - there is a childminder drop in this morn that i'd like to start going to when i'm minding but today i have my friends little girl for the day (she has hosp appointment) and thought we might go along. do you think i'd be welcome? or would it be considered gate crashing! i'm just waiting for my certificate from royail mail...........................................................feels like a life time!

shoshalite · 07/11/2007 07:31

Go along love, you will be made welcome, and come back in and tell us how it went but do remember to bring cakes

StrawberryMartini · 07/11/2007 07:33

Morning,

I've not had my ft mindee last couple of days so i've been catching up on housework and sleep and got a few bits for christmas!!

Hello EM - Welcome to the staff room! I would go to the group if i were you, they won't mind and if they do you don't have to go again. I've been doing this a while now and have been to lots of new groups and felt nervous before all of them and theres only been one that i left early and never went back.

We're off to soft play this morning mindee is back today was sick from sat to mon, hope he's better now, his mum phoned on mon and said he'd been sick at tea time but if ok through the night would it be ok to send him....... I explained it has to be 24hrs without any sick for it to be ok to return so i'm hoping she hasn't decided to try and pull the wool over my eyes and send him anyway.

eleanorsmum · 07/11/2007 07:39

thanks! i'll buy some cakes on the way home!

mumlove · 07/11/2007 07:41

Morning all, it's all work, work, work here on a monday, tuesday and wednesday these are my busiest days and sometimes feel that I don't even get to visit the loo!!

looneytune · 07/11/2007 07:49

Morning all. I'm waiting for dh to get out of the bathroom so I can have my shower so thought I'd pop in! Had email from the sisters mum saying au pair will drop off after school run which makes things a lot easier this morning

Strawbs - cool, ds has been getting up at 5.30/6am for a while too and for some reason he also slept in til gone 7am

Shosh - It feels like your name, I agree Glad you got it sorted and are able to come back in!

EM - Welcome And yes, go to drop in! We'd always welcome new people at ours, in fact we have a foster carer and a nanny who come to ours as it got a bit quiet and we needed to make sure we could afford to keep it going!

LMG's - I hope not!

Well I went to drop in yesterday and the local support minder talked about the EYFS training she went on the night before. She said she came away having no idea of what exactly we are supposed to be doing, how to record the obs, if diaries with more info in would be ok etc. Oh....and that she left leaving the trainer surrounded by LOTS of angry childminders!!

Guess what.....Saz phoned up to booked on the next course which is in December (lots of us not booked on yet) and they've said it's fully booked and they are thinking about doing another lot of training next year but no idea when. What I don't get is we have a legal obligation to attend these courses (so they said) yet they didn't make sure that they counted how many minders need to go and therefore cater for us all! Just hope they don't do the next course when I'm massively pregnant!!

Anyway, what's everyone up to today?? I've been at toddler group and childminder drop in so not been around much. Got a quieter day today with the sisters at home and ds is going to a friend's after nursery so I don't need to rush out for that run at 11.10 So when I get home around 9.30, I don't need to leave again til about 2pm

MaureenMLove · 07/11/2007 08:13

Morning all! I've been taken the mick of already this morning. I'm cross with myself for allowing it too. Its only a little thing, but even so. My school mindee is usually here by 7.45. On a Wednesday he is the only one I go to school for. His mum is taking him to the docs at 8.15 and asked me yesterday what the latest was he could be dropped off. I said 8.30, but the thing is, I'm only going for him, so I'm sitting here just waiting - I might have to go out, I might not! I really should have said, you take him straight there then, shouldn't I?

MaureenMLove · 07/11/2007 08:20

He's on his way now, so no harm done.

Katymac · 07/11/2007 08:23

Morning all

Finally had my final payment for November - It's the 7th fgs & I only got it cos I rang up & made a fuss

I threatened not to have child - I DO NOT HAVE parents like this, they got a final warning based on guilt and shame (I'm lucky I didn't lose them - but then I don't really care - I won't be treated like that)

I have been fielding calls for January atm potentially 6 new children (not sure I can fit them all in)

Please can I have something with chocolate in (rather than Marmite?)

On the up side I am getting my new baby gym today - I can't wait

BoysAreLikeDogs · 07/11/2007 08:24

Morning all !

Off on the school run then waiting for mindee 1 at 10 am then mindees 2 and 3 at 10.30. Dunno what we'll do today, depends on the weather !

After-schoolie as well later today. Phew.

Have a good day and welcome EM

MaureenMLove · 07/11/2007 08:27

I'm glad mine all come before school in the morning Ju, thats would really hack me off, if I couldn't get going on the day til 10.30am.

Katymac · 07/11/2007 08:51

My baby gym arrived - it's fab

But I'll have to take the wheels off (didn't realise it was a walker too - I hate walkers)

It's lovely

MamaG · 07/11/2007 08:53

Oh yes you all FLOCK to the fecking staff romo today. Where were you when I opened it on monday? Hmm? HMM?

MaureenMLove · 07/11/2007 09:08

Oi, misery guts, all it takes is the offer of cake or god forbid a gift from your holiday as we might stick around! AND I did ask you where you'd been and was it during term time, but you chose to ignore ME.

looneytune · 07/11/2007 09:35

ARRGGHHH.....I'm going to have another bad day with 2 year old mindee, I just know it! She's always been the perfect mindee but now she's got proper attitude (her mum says she's very 'bratty' at home). She very much wants everything her own way and another thing....she goes 'pee pee' on potty at home and on Monday would sit on mine but yesterday she screamed and shouted if I even mentioned it. Then she'd come up to me crying 'potty, potty' so I'd say 'oh good girl, lets get the potty' and straight away pulled her trousers down and she screamed again as didn't want to be near it. I was really confused but I THINK what's happened is she's said it when she's just been in her nappy. But how come she sometimes pees on the potty at home? I'm wondering if it's because the last 2 days we've been out a lot on school runs and groups and at home she is around most of the day???? Anyway, last night she drove me mad because I changed her nappy as was heavy (after she'd called for potty) and she was kicking me as didn't want nappy changed either and then she kicked me hard in the tummy . Don't know what's up with her atm, I suppose it's a phase she's going through as she is at THAT age but I'm soooooooo tired, I could do without it right now!!

LilRedWG · 07/11/2007 09:38

Hi - I'm not a childminder but Shosha will vouch for me as baing relatively normal. Can I please come in - just for today - as I'm feeling a bit lost and lonely without Lissie et all around.

Pretty please?

LilRedWG · 07/11/2007 10:07

Right - I'm just squatting then The tea urn is full and I'm camping for the day. Don't worry, I'll be gone by tomorrow

eleanorsmum · 07/11/2007 10:57

MaureenMLove · 07/11/2007 11:56

Hi Lilred! We're not ignoring you, honest! You are very welcome in the staff room, lets face it anyone with chldren is a childminder, we just have the problem of OFsted to deal with! So actually we are all very of you!

Sometimes we've got time to chat for a while and sometimes the day is just too hectic to. I'm doing lunch with mine mindee atm, then she'll be asleep, so I've got a couple of hours!

shoshalite · 07/11/2007 11:56
