Morning all. My son is still asleep YAY! He's been 5.30am for ages.

Crumpets again today I think.

Why has it been so quiet recently? Are you all hibernating?!

I dont get this new posty thingy.

Hello you! How are you? Hows your ear? If you go to the top and customise your talk board, you can get MN classic, which is the way it always has been. You should have been here when it all changed, it was chaos! You can also hide topics that you never look at, in your MN too, I think.

littleladylollipop · 07/11/2007 13:05

Thank you for the lovely welcome all. I have just opened the Tea Shop as I spoke to Lissie this morning and she asked me to say hi to everyone!

MissInvisible · 07/11/2007 13:13

MamaG · 07/11/2007 13:29

ok ok - soz Mo, I didn't hear you

We went to Somerset, it was great, had lovely weather etc and YES it was term time [bad mother]

MaureenMLove · 07/11/2007 13:32

Oh dear, we could do with some cake, couldn't we? Let me see now oh, how about this one?

Like the name Lolly, if I may call you that? Crap about little boy, is there any hope? Rubbish about your friends too.

Bad news for you too MI. I hate it when a long timer goes. How anyone could be a foster carer is beyond me. Can you imagine how much worse it would be, if you had them 24/7?

Dig into the cake, I'll put the kettle on.

Mum2Luke · 07/11/2007 14:23

Got a text tellingme the parents of the baby think its 'unfair' of me to ask for 4 weeks money due to Mum going on mat leave early (should have been Dec finish). It is in their contract which they signed FFS!

I would never drop them in it if I was finishing for any reason. I would always give them notice so why do parents think we should go without pay while they mess us about? I have always tried to help and charged them half for sickness - wish I'd done full now!

Suretstart phoned me yesterday to ask if I could mind, for 10 days, a 13 mth old while his Mum is poorly. Should I tell the parents of the baby even though he is off for 2 weeks maybe forever if Mum doesn't go back to work? I am geting £4.50 ph for this temp contract which is alot better with Christmas around the corner.

shoshalite · 07/11/2007 15:31

Why not tell the parents as you have this child coming in you will take full pay for two weeks and half for the other, that way if she does come back after Maternity, you havnt burnt your bridges, but as you say THEY SIGNED THE CONTRACT!!!!!!! I have a hand book, which I send out to a prospective parent to read, then I actually go through it word for word and make sure they take in things like that.

looneytune · 07/11/2007 16:50

Sorry, meant to catch up with thread and reply so not to ignore anyone but ds keeps nicking the laptop and I've just got a few mins before he nicks it back (but it keeps him quiet! )

I'm a bit today as ds went for a play date and when I collected, I mentioned in conversation that I'm expecting again (I know she won't say and I trust her) and she said 'well I didn't like to say but I was pretty sure you were'. I said I know, my tummy has popped out already and she said 'oh, it was more the totally drained and knackered look - i was the same when i was pregnant' (I do look pretty bad in the morning after pushing the 2 girls to school and back to car as it's when I feel pretty yuck). My db was round on Monday and had a face when he saw my tummy without my jumper covering it (he never normally notices things like this - he's a bloke) and to top it all......pre-school mindee (nearly 4) has this afternoon said 'look....you've got a baby in there' and I just said 'oh thanks X boo hoo - I know, I've eaten too many cakes!' and made a sort of joke about my big tummy. I'm far too hot playing with the kids to have a jumper cover me during the day, I just put it on for the school run and at drop off/pick up time. I'm mainly concerned about mindee going home and saying something about my tummy like she did to me - you know what kids are like at this age. I've got another 4/5 weeks til I planned on telling them - should I just stop worrying? or tell them sooner?

MissInvisible · 07/11/2007 20:27

ok as of 21st dec, im £120 a week down and minde who has(albeit was hardwork) been with me since start will have gone

MaureenMLove · 07/11/2007 20:29

Oh poo. Any hope of a replacement quick smart?
