right im texting "i can do it this time, but i really need more notice of hours as well as days as i've already been working 6-10's for a week.I dont have a problem doing them, but i need to know well in advance. What time will xxx be here till tomorrow?"..whats that sound like?

why am i always 'pulling' them on something??

Megsdaughter · 16/10/2007 13:29

Looney
Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Dont say anything till 12 weeks and everything else will work itself out

think you need to put it in writing, and make up a form that the mother can fill in for the following week, to be given back to you on a Friday, with days and hours. And you will only do those hours. Hours outside 8-8 are double time, regardless if they have paid for 12 and only done 9.

I did this for a Dad that used to think it was ok just to phone the night before, I gave him a form on the Monday, it had to be back for the friday, If it was not returned, Then I was to regard it as the child wold not be in that week.

The form was just which days, what times so on.

Sounds fine. Is this the same one who's with you until 10? Sorry, I'm getting confused with all the hours that you lot seem to do!

MissInvisible · 16/10/2007 13:36

no, not same ive got mindee one, yesterday and today 6am-10pm, then mindee 2'supposedly' 6.30 till prob 8.30 tomorrow..now i can say no till late finsih as i can say i have plans, but A- why should i lie and B- what can i say other than too short notice and im knackerd for early start!

dp says not to text yet, think about it and said i 'could' say no as had no notice and agreed to do 2 18 hours shifts yesterday and today on undertanding everyone else was normal hours this week????

LoveMyGirls · 16/10/2007 13:38

I would say no. It is short notice. You need more sleep. Say no for the fact you are shattered and looking after kids requires you to be on the ball for h&s reasons.

MissInvisible · 16/10/2007 13:42

could i say no as no times were given when days given so i assumed normal hours and am just finshing 31 hour shift at 10pm tonight(technically right as mindee only went home and slept for 6 hours then back?)

StrawberryMartini · 16/10/2007 13:48

Oh looney I'm soooooo for you!!!!!! Fab news and I hope everything goes smoothly.

P.S. If you get a chance to read messages you'll notice I won't need the booster - parent pulled out on me!

MissInvisible · 16/10/2007 13:53

how about "sorry xxx, but i cant do that as ive just finshed two 16 hour shifts which i only said yes too as everyone else was on normal hours as nothing other was specified, which is why i ask for 2 weeks notice"???????fuck shit am sick of this

mumlove · 16/10/2007 13:54

Good day.

Looney - excellent news, I hope everything goes well.

I am just having my lunch and would love a coffee. Got wet this morning on the school run but it has dried up now so fingers crossed it stays dry for later.

LoveMyGirls · 16/10/2007 13:58

MI - do it. It's unfair of her to expect things at short notice when you have specifically asked for 2 wks notice. I know easier said than done sometimes. At the end of the day if you're chasing her this much for 12hrs a work a week is it worth it?

MaureenMLove · 16/10/2007 13:59

I think DH has made a good case PC, You only took on extra hours with the other one, because no one else requested extra hours. Tell her that, maybe she'll learn that she can't always assume in the future.

MissInvisible · 16/10/2007 14:01

shit, should i sensd it?, why am i the one trying to not upset people.
the little boy is adorable but im sick of being treat like an odd job man who when they shout shit i jump on the shovel

MaureenMLove · 16/10/2007 14:05

Yes, send it! We're here. We'll be your assertive side.

GO, GO, GO MI!!!! GO, GO, GO MI!!!!!!!!!

MissInvisible · 16/10/2007 14:08

MissInvisible · 16/10/2007 14:10

dmo · 16/10/2007 14:15

poor you chick but you must put yourself and your family above everyone else if you let it go this time she will do it again

looney fab news get used to the sick feelin

MissInvisible · 16/10/2007 14:16

ta DMO, you cant win tho can youa s you say you'll do unusual hours when you try to get business and i dont mind(well ok i do now im full but i didnt when quiet) as long as im told well in advance, not less that 24 hours before

dmo · 16/10/2007 14:20

i did the same had 3 children till 9.30pm weds and thurs
never again need my own time!!!!!!!!!!!

MissInvisible · 16/10/2007 14:22

so if youd agreed to that what did you do to stop it happeining again as i initially said i would work late/overnight with both these, although did send out newsletter saying no more after 8pms, then back peddled for one mum(whom im now doing 6-10's for!)

hennipenni · 16/10/2007 14:26

WOOOOHOOOO Looney Fantastic news, I had a feeling you would be from the tone of some of your posts.

Rubybees · 16/10/2007 14:35

OMG MI I finsh work 5.30 at the lastest how on earth do you keep going with your own family ect

glad you said no-yeah!!!

my last set of parents used to ask when they picked up for the next day - I was always too soft, then when I had to pop into town to put money into the bank and saw them enjoying a coffee steam came out of my ears lol

After that I aways said no harhar

looney keep everything crossed now, and take it easy xx

MaureenMLove · 16/10/2007 14:38

Well done. Try not to feel like you're going to get told off. Easy I know, we've all been there. Did you tell this 10pm mum that this is the last time you do it, as it was in your news letter?

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 16/10/2007 15:29

Strawbs - how annoying, that will have cost you money to waste a contract like that!!!

PC - just scrolled through and sorry to put it blunt but I'd say NO, end of. You've reminded them over and over about how much notice you need. It doesn't make the slightest bit of difference how many hours they pay you for, that is a very early start, outside of normal hours and NO, without the required notice, DON'T do it!!! Also, the 10pm finish, tell them no if you've already told them in writing FFS!!! Sorry, just on your behalf!

LMGs - {{{ hugs }}} (haven't read your thread but I know you need a hug today!)

henni - by the tone do you mean me being a bit agressive recently??? I must say, I was getting worried about my swearing and moods on here recently but I suppose at least I can see why now!!!

Thanks to everyone for your lovely messages, I'm still in shock and terrified about money etc. PC - we WERE supposed to be saving but it all went wrong with dh having BIG dental bills and then me loosing £430+ last week Will start now, just panicking about how quick it will go and also, I want a dating scan as I could be further gone than I think and also, I want to make sure there's only one as VERY high chance of twins

MaureenMLove · 16/10/2007 16:01

Looney, please forgive me if I've got it wrong, I'm getting old and my brain doesn't function as well as it used to, but was it you who had the appointment with the doctor about you not being able to get p/g and other stuff? As I said, sorry if I'm completely wrong, I do try to keep up as much as I can! Anyway, if it was you - even bigger congrats!

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 16/10/2007 16:07

Yep, the Dr was a bit unsure of things which stressed me more but then I saw my tarot reader (yeah....laugh if you like....I've used this one for over 10 yrs and you wouldn't believe the stuff she's got dead right each time)....she said to stop stressing about ttc and that those problems won't be a problem (I didn't tell her we were ttc) but said I've got scarring on the outside of one of my tubes so it will take longer. As a result, I totally left ttc and we just carried on the business as and when but without the pill and hey presto, up the duff first month from being told that! I know I wouldn't be pg if hadn't had the reading as I was so stressing about it all, I obviously just needed to relax
