Ok 39 + 2 days and waters went spectacularly an hour ago!!

Popped to hospital who examined me and said yep waters have gone!

So im now home not sure what to do.... thinking of going to bed to get some rest as im stil suffering laryngitis which is not nice!

Feel like I need to use the loo but to scared to due to infection risk to baby! (silly I know!)

No contractions that I know of, well bump keeps going hard but im in no real pain as such!? Hoping things will start in the morning will see how things go!

all support welcomes with my first birth!!

I shall get the kettle on now and start drinking it! will it bring contractions on then?? I blame it for making my waters go! (I know they prob had no impact at all lol)

And get sniffing the Clary Sage oil!

skinsl · 21/01/2010 08:48

who knows!!! its not really one of those things you can prove!!

mama2moo · 21/01/2010 08:57

Could you go for a walk around the hospital so that you are not out in the cold? It could encourage the baby to move down.

Start reading a good book - Its bound to happen before you finish it

hurrydownthechimneytonight · 21/01/2010 14:06

ok so examined at hospital who said once again all is fine with baby!

I asked her to tell me his head was engaged and she looked at me and said i need contractions to get his head down now!

Told nothing i can do to bring on the contractions its about a hormoner being released and so I am to be induced!

If baby has not arrived or started to arrive by 3pm tommorrow I am to be induced at the big main hospital! Im not happy bit if its best for the baby thats the main thing!

Plus it means I know now i will def have my baby with me Saterday or before!!

InmaculadaConcepcion · 21/01/2010 14:36

Sometimes just the prospect of being induced can get your hormones going, hurry!

Good luck, I keep wondering how you're doing. Thanks for the updates.

Mistymoo · 21/01/2010 17:17

Be careful not to get your hopes up about having baby by Saturday. With my first I was induced on a Wed night, again Thurs morning and again Thurs night. He didn't arrive until lunch time on Friday. My waters had not broken though so that may make a difference.

mama2moo · 21/01/2010 17:50

At least you know that this time tomorrow something will be happening!! So excited for you

wasabipeanut · 21/01/2010 19:34

Just wanted to wish you luck really whether you end up being induced or something happens before then.

Good luck!

allthatjazz · 21/01/2010 19:39

Good luck! We will be awaiting news

Twiddle nipples - that releases hormones to get cx going! Get DH to do it or do as I had to and use the breast pump. DP got bored

PfftTheMagicDragon · 21/01/2010 19:42

My waters went and I had the baby 48 hours later, labour started an hour or so before they were going to start induction.

If they want to give you a drip, get an epidural first. A drip will get your contractions going but they will be twice as painful as normal. If you can get a mobile epidural that is. Don't let them con you into saying they will put the drip in first and then come back for the epidural, they are liars!

hurrydownthechimneytonight · 21/01/2010 21:32

thanks ladies well things are looking up!

Im having contractions definate ones! Still fair way in betwen average about 14 mins between each one lasting roughly a min! DH has been using contraction master!

I now feel very bruised in my pelvic area so hopefully he has dropped considerably!! Alot of back pain during each contraction but was told today he is still on his side, he feels to me and DH to be in the right position now.

He is still moving about so I know he is ok!

Im very happy as if they continue I should be ok to have him at local hospital with birthing pool.

Going to bed soon to try getting some rest in meantime DH has gone to tescos for me as ive gone though a whole pck of mat pads in 48 hours!

This labor malarky drags on doesnt it!

thanks everyone!

hurrydownthechimneytonight · 22/01/2010 06:08

thanks! ok latest update better than before anyway!!

Contractions started at 7pm last night till 10:30 were every 10-15 mins so i went to bed. Managed to sleep till 3 then was being woken by strong contractions (still able to snooze between them!)

Got up now to use the contraction master to see how often they are coming. Glad contractions are still coming and I wont need to be induced looks like todays will be my sons birthday!!

Contractions are varying between 4-7 mins right now so will see how it goes over the next hour! Im only a 5 min drive from hospital which is good! Be nice to know how far along I am as its been 11 hours now since cons started but 62 hours since waters went!

hurrydownthechimneytonight · 22/01/2010 09:54

Brief update! Been to hospital midwife did not appear to believe i was contracting hmm as I was not making a big fuss!

Said I could not be examined due to waters having gone, anyway they called main hospital who said its OK to examine me and guess what.......... Im 4cm dilated!!

So have come home as im only 5 min drive from hospital and coping fine! Took some paracetamol turns out my forewaters have not yet gone so I can have a bath and relax!

Contractions are painful but will see how long I can go without anything other than paracetamol.
