Not sure if this is it, if I disappear I'm either having a baby, or tucked up in bed fast asleep, all contractions having stopped.
Have been told that with my second baby I should be going in when the contractions are 10 minutes apart - is that really true?! 20 min drive to hospital, but obviously it definitely won't be more than that at this time.

sounds positive, known a few women have labours like that, and not count the mini ctx inbetween and all of a sudden they are fully dilated !

happy birthing and hope baby is here soon xxx

StealthPolarBear · 18/09/2009 18:48

yes, this is exaclty what it was like last time, was 9cm when I got to the hospital, just not convinced they hurt as much.
Not sure what to do.
Bramshott, have the wine anyway - I'd love a glass so have mine, please!

LuluMamaaaaarrrrr · 18/09/2009 18:49

do yo know what, i'd go in.....

you don;t want to wait until you are suddnely wanting to push

how far away is the hospital?

LuluMamaaaaarrrrr · 18/09/2009 18:49

how do you feel between ctx?

StealthPolarBear · 18/09/2009 18:51

20mins away
Between contractions I am restless, waiting for the next one and like I said still some pains. Whereas at lunchtime as long as I wasn't having one i was putting washing in / making sandwiches etc, no way I could do that now.
If I get there and I'm 2cm I'll cry! If I'm 6cm I'll cry as well as probably won't be worth coming back, but will have to spend a few hours there

Oooooh exciting!!

Good luck and I hope its not too much longer.

MoonlightMcKenzie · 18/09/2009 18:57

I kinda agree with Lulumama, but still a student. Second are usually a walk in the park compared to first and so you are probably further along than you 'feel'!

Going in doesn't mean you have to stay in a room or ward or even the hospital grounds. You're a free woman.

travellingwilbury · 18/09/2009 18:57

I think it sounds like the time has come to make that 20 mins

Good luck and will be looking out for the baby is here news tomorrow (not like you will be busy with anything now is it ? )

Bramshott · 18/09/2009 18:59

Okay SPB - I am pouring yours out now - yummmm!

elkiedee · 18/09/2009 19:07

Come on Polar Cub!

foxytocin · 18/09/2009 19:14

my lovely trainee doula told me that the closer a woman is to the floor the closer she is to delivery. in my case it was totally true.

mollyroger · 18/09/2009 19:20

oooh! Good luck SPB...hope you're on your way! x

nevergoogledragonbutter · 18/09/2009 19:20

ah that explains why i crawled from the car park into the maternity hospital.

oooggs · 18/09/2009 20:02

woo hoo how exciting

travellingwilbury · 18/09/2009 20:22

I hope the silence means things are progressing and you have gone in .

Very exciting

LuluMamaaaaarrrrr · 18/09/2009 20:45

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooh, i hope this is it !

oopsacoconut · 18/09/2009 20:57

Stealth - sending big pushing vibes

StealthPolarBear · 18/09/2009 21:04

in and out again
I said if i was 2cm I would cry
I was 2cm. I cried.

Having really really bad contractions now, about every 4 mins.

aw stealth

but at least things are happening? Baby will definately be here soon

Are you able to get some rest or is it too uncomfortable?

travellingwilbury · 18/09/2009 21:08

The sweep has done its job by the sounds of it , baby bear will be here by morning .

Very exciting (for us )
Probably bloody painful ( for you)

Deemented · 18/09/2009 21:14

Oh SPB - it'll all be over soon and you'll be snuggling baby bear soon...

5inthebed · 18/09/2009 21:16

Good luck SPB!

StealthPolarBear · 18/09/2009 21:17

Thank you - you're all lovely. The official line was that my labour could stop completely but the MW said she thought she'd see me back tonight.
Seeem to be having contractions every 3 or 4 mins, are they likely to just be post-sweep pains rather than contractions?

and I'm really really missing DS, he's only had 3 nights away from us before last night and now he's having 2 nights in a row Sounds like he's having fun though
