I am due my baby 2 weeks on saturday and have started to feel a bit nervous about labour (as Im a bit of a wimp when it comes to pain) - does anyone have any advice re pain relief/best positions for childbirth - I was ok until I started reading the baby books - agghhh...HELP.

Bells, I've probably missed you now - who knows you may have even had your baby by now. However, if not, I leaked very small quantities of amniotic fluid for days, so that when I was first examined by the midwife on delivery day, she asked when had my waters broken. I hadn't actually realised that I had been leaking fluid, just thought my knickers were a bit more damp than usual because I was so damn hot. Sorry to be graphic.
Anyway - best of luck. I hope you have a good delivery and a lovely healthy baby.

Good Luck Bells, I'm cringing with you!

Bells2 · 11/11/2001 18:19

Well I'm finally back on-line. After much dithering as to whether or not it was amniotic fluid, I was sent home to wait it out and she arrived Saturday evening. For all who found Lisa's birthing experience on Eastenders last week ludicrously easy, you probably don't want to read this.... but it was a dream!!. 1 hour 10 mins from first really painful contraction to birth and a grand total of 2 pushes!. Name to be decided ; weight 7lb oz. She is unbelievably quiet and now hasn't fed for 6 hours although latched on and fed fantastically well this morning - I guess that can happen can it??? Just our son was such an angry little ball and fed constantly at this stage.

Thanks again for the kind messages.

Best wishes Bells, and hello to your brand new baby. Have you named her yet? From your description of her feeding habits, it sounds like your daughter is already primed for a visit to Vinopolis.

And a very, very big hello to your son, now the big brother.

Enid · 12/11/2001 10:54

Bells, lots of love and congratulations to you and your family.

Joe1 · 12/11/2001 11:15

Well done Bells and little bells. What a team already to get that all over and done within such a short time.

Lizzer · 12/11/2001 12:47

Loads of love and big congratulations

I hope you do have one of those 'miracle babies' that are happy and sleepy 24/7. I'd love to know how it happens!

Ems · 12/11/2001 13:11

Well done Bells, glad it went so well for you, hope it continues in the same way!

Lil · 12/11/2001 16:41

Bells, hooray, doesn't time fly on mumsnet. its like a speeded up soap, where one minute you're talking morning sickness and the next there's your baby in your arms. You sound so happy and all well under 2 hours, that's fantastic. (You've given us hope!!).

Enjoy your well earned maternity leave!!

Lil · 12/11/2001 16:44

Bells just reread your messge from a few months back when you said "my first baby arrived in 2 hours and 20 minutes flat and I have also been warned that no. 2 is likely to be even quicker".

Blimey!

Pupuce · 12/11/2001 16:58

Great to hear the good news Bells, welcome to Baby Bells.
DD (3 months old) is also AMAZINGLY easy (sleeps like a charm, feeds efficiently, doesn't cry)... I was told girls are easier... seems true ! And second babies are also easier... you are so much more relaxed and they pick up on it.
Enjoy every minute of it !!!!!!!

Tlb · 12/11/2001 17:35

Bells

Congratulations!! You sound very content (as does no 2 - what are drinking!!??)
