Birth weight of your babies?

I was just wondering what size babies you have had?
Does is always follow that each subsequent baby is heavier than the last?
One midwife said to me once that there's not always such a big difference between the first two but if you have a third it can be much bigger.
I have had 8lb 10oz, and 8lb 12oz and am curious if the third will be bigger still as my bump seems smaller than with the previous two.
Thanks!

DS1 8lbs 3.5oz at 40+12

DD 7lbs 6oz at 39+1

DS2 8lbs 3.5oz at 39+1 so if he had been at the same gestational age as DS1 then he would have been much bigger....DD not comparable, but girls are generally smaller anyway accoding to what I've read.

For me though the weight wasn't the issue but the size of their heads.

DS1 was in second stage labour for over four hours before needing an emCS and his head was mahoosive, on the 91st centile.

DD I opted for an elective and she has a teeny tiny petite head.

DS2 had a VBAC and he got stuck and was an assisted delivery, and again has a massive head on the 91st centile.

DD 10lb 14oz at 39+5

DS 8lb 8oz at 38 weeks

Not having any more!

Olissa · 04/04/2009 22:06

My second was a lb smaller:

DS 8lb 8oz at 42 + 1
DD 7lb 8oz at 42 + 4

Me and my siblings don't fit the pattern either:
Me (oldest) 7lb 15oz (induced at 40 + 6, I think)
DSis 1 6lb 1oz induced at 40 + 2
DSis 2 8lb 1oz at 41 weeks

Seems to be utterly random to me!

CompareTheMeerkat · 04/04/2009 22:10

DS 6lb 1oz (11 days early)

DD 7lb 11oz (4 days late)

BecauseImWoeufit · 04/04/2009 22:16

DS1 6lb 2oz - 2 weeks early
DS2 6lb 2oz - 4 weeks early

PinkTulips · 04/04/2009 22:16

dd 7lb 4oz
ds1 8lbs 10oz
ds2 8lbs 2oz

according to dubious dates from scans dd was 4 days early and ds1 was 2 weeks early with ds2 for once i knew how far along i was and he was definitely 5 days over.

elkiedee · 04/04/2009 22:45

I would hope if I have a 3rd that that theory is wrong:

ds 1 7 lb 7 oz induced at 8 days overdue,
ds 2 almost 10 lb went into labour at 7 days overdue

Each of my mum's 3 was a bit heavier but all between 8 and 9 lb and we were a bit less late each time - I was 18 days late and the 1st and smallest, 3rd was only 5 days late and the biggest.

kid · 04/04/2009 22:50

DD 39+5 = 7lb 1oz
DS 38+5 = 7lb 13oz

boomirrin · 04/04/2009 23:46

DD 37+2 = 6lb 5.5oz
DS 41 = 10lb 7.5oz
DD 38 = 7lb 13oz

Up and down!

rainbowdays · 05/04/2009 15:43

ds1 7 lbs 12oz (1 week early)
dd 7 lbs 3oz (10 days early)
ds2 9 lbs (5 days early)

So I agreed with midwife theory.... sure it is totally random though!

Carrie06 · 05/04/2009 18:44

dd 1lb 4oz (29 wks)
ds 9lb 10z (39 wks)

Both born by c-section -dd had severe IUGR
Consultant said he had never seen such variation in weights, they were born 14 mths apart (ds - 11 days ago). Cx

Missmodular · 05/04/2009 20:32

Ninjacat · 10/04/2009 11:08

I feel much better reading this thread.
Twelve years ago I had DS who weighed in at 9lb 12oz with out an ounce of fat on him just a well formed baby who was too big for newborn clothes. I'm now 8 weeks pg with number two and have been terrified of another big one, but maybe that's not necessarily the case?

Ninjacat · 10/04/2009 11:11

Oh and DS was born at 42 weeks.

FruitynNutty · 10/04/2009 11:12

DS1 - 9lb 12oz (12 days late) (c-sec btw!)
DS2 - 8lb 5oz (4 days early)

So depends when you next lo will arrive

FruitynNutty · 10/04/2009 11:12

snap Ninjacat DS1 also had no fat on him
