Ok, i'm 40+11 (2nd DS)

Contractions started at around quater past midnight (it's now 2am)... very irregular. Lasting anything from 40 seconds to almost a minute, roughly every 10mins apart. Pretty bad when they come on.

Waters not gone yet.

hospital is about 20mins away at this time of night...

I have GBS though... when should i phone the hospital? I don't want to ring too soon as don't want to be told to go in too soon. Also i told DH to go back to bed so when should i wake him?

Is there anyone up at this unearthly hour to shed any light? or am i on my own??!!!

I leaned over mine while in labour and rocked and moaned. It helped a bit but I had back labour so basically I was screwed for finding a comfortable position.

How frequent are contractions now?

Jacksmama · 04/03/2009 04:11

I'm in Canada, on the West Coast, and Catita's in Mexico.

alipiggie · 04/03/2009 04:12

Another one here in the USA just in case you need more moral support or virtual back rubs

jen992 · 04/03/2009 04:12

Canada and Mexico eh? niiice!!! ... not jealous in the slightest!!!!

contractions are about every 8mins and lasting around 40seconds .... don't seem to be getting much closer or much more intense but atleast they're not wearing off!

I popped in to say hello and a muffin. But I thought I'd stay in around Jen's thread tonight.
I wonder how she is doing? No news for a half hour. Hopefully things are getting moving for her.

Jacksmama · 04/03/2009 04:18

Hi alipiggie, one of us can rub jen's feet, and someone else can do her back and neck! Or head, or belly... I doula'd (if that's a word - probably not) for a couple of friends and one wanted her temples rubbed, and the other her belly. I personally wanted the whole world to p*ss off, if anyone came near me I grew fangs .

Jacksmama · 04/03/2009 04:19

x post Cat

Jacksmama · 04/03/2009 04:19

The overseas virtual doula brigade is at your service jen! All of North America represented!

jen992 · 04/03/2009 04:20

Umm. I think I was still reading the wrong page there. Sorry all.

The balls look great. I always wanted a space hopper when I was wee, never got one. had to make do with nicking next door's.. (she was not amused by this).

They also sound like they help loads. I got dread [whispers] wind when I was pg. Sitting down could be agony, but I hink the ball might have helped as my pal sent me yoga positions to try and they helped too. it seesm to be a similar principle.

How are the contractions going?

Jacksmama · 04/03/2009 04:21

You're about four hours in now, right?... I think if it were a false alarm it would have petered out by now.

Catitainahatita · 04/03/2009 04:23

"dreadful" even. I won't even demean myself by correcting my horrendous typing any further.

jen992 · 04/03/2009 04:25

contractions still going, just not particulary regular tho? 40-50 seconds (so lasting longer) but vary from 6-11 mins apart??

OP posts:
Catitainahatita · 04/03/2009 04:25

An they are 2 mins less apart now. You are progressing, even though you don't feel like it [supportive back-rubbing type emoticon]

ClaudiaSchiffer · 04/03/2009 04:26

Hi I'm in Australia, so also around for a few more hours yet.

Very exciting Jen, do you have the tens machine on?

Have you rung your folks yet or not quite there yet?

Catitainahatita · 04/03/2009 04:27

Another x post. Damn it

I think JM is right, a false start wouldn't last so long.

jen992 · 04/03/2009 04:27

loving the back rub... thinking this TENs machine isn't gonna last the entire labour... getting on my nerves already... stupid wires everywhere!

OP posts:
jen992 · 04/03/2009 04:28

Hi CSchiffer! yep got the TENs on(for the moment) not phoned parents yet...

OP posts:
Jacksmama · 04/03/2009 04:41

Oh good for you for escaping the inducction . I was wondering about that when I saw you were 40+11.

ClaudiaSchiffer · 04/03/2009 04:45

Hi there virtual doulas and real life contracting lady. I am in Adelaide it's currently 3.15 in the afternoon, I have my 2 daughters and a friend here (aged 3 and 1) they are making cards for the brand new daughter of a friend of ours. To be honest the cards are a bit crap but I forgot to get one. .

ClaudiaSchiffer · 04/03/2009 04:47

Where are you Jen? I am homesick for England. Here is has been roasting hot for months and months and I'm sick of it.

You have been contracting for nearly 5 hrs now, well done! Are you getting tired or is the adrenaline keeping you going? Wanna cuppa?
