DS1 was 8lb 13oz
DS2 was 10lb 11oz

Both were ventouses though, so well done you!

seeker · 14/01/2009 14:28

9lb9 nad 10lb6. Both natural, no pain relief. Oh, and 10lb 6 was born 27 minutes after we reached the hospital after 3 hours of labour!

Lizzylou · 14/01/2009 14:29

I thought mine being 2lb difference was a shock, but your DD2 was 3lb heavier than your DD1.
Did you know DD2 would be big? I had soo many scans with DS2, the Midwife kept sending me but the Consultant said it would be fine, as I am a big lass (5ft 9, big feet and big built) .
They tested me for diabetes after wards as they were puzzled as why he was so much bigger. He is almost 3 now, doesn't eat much but is a very solid build!

Lizzylou · 14/01/2009 14:29

Wow Seeker!

MrsSeanBean · 14/01/2009 14:29

Wow - natural birth for that weight - what an achievement!

DS 1 was 10lb 14oz, I had an emergency CS though as I failed to progress after hormone drip, epidural and 20 hour labour.

madwomanintheattic · 14/01/2009 14:30

my friend was 10 lb 9, then 10lb 15. he broke her pelvis and fractured his clavicle. she isn't having any more lol.

MrsSeanBean · 14/01/2009 14:31

I am worried what weight 2nd dc will be, don't they get bigger?

ellideb · 14/01/2009 14:32

DS 9lb 11.5oz emergency c-sect after 'failing to progress' 3 days in labour, drip, 3 failed epidurals, 2 spinals, gas and air, diamorphine. Phew. And I want to do it again! I will get my water birth!

DisenchantedPlusBump · 14/01/2009 14:34

wow, i thought my 9lb DS was big... my eyes are watering reading this

madwomanintheattic · 14/01/2009 14:35

MrsSB my dc1 and 2 were exactly the same weight lol, to the gramme... dc3 was 6oz heavier though...

Lizzylou · 14/01/2009 14:36

I am amazed at those who had natural births tbh, in awe, and no pain relief???
Gas and air was my saviour!
And the ventouse

mumof2rugrats · 14/01/2009 14:36

well done seeker i had gas and air wouldnt ofdone it without. does anyone get pains in there hips and finds it hard to keep legs crossed? i also want another baby but is scared of the weight as they told me dd2 was going to be no bigger than 8lb ..

I grabbed the gas and air like a drowning woman - and it made things worse - my breathing went all haywire and I couldn't think. Can't tell you how disappointed I was!

mumof2rugrats · 14/01/2009 14:39

what that you had the gas and air or what it did to you ..

quickdrawmcgraw · 14/01/2009 14:39

dd was 9lbs2oz
ds was 10lbs10oz
He tore me in two and I had an epidural. Wish I'd had one for the recovery though.

girlandboy · 14/01/2009 14:40

Dc1 - 7lb 6oz
Dc2 - 9lb 13oz

Both with just a tens machine.

Didn't want to risk a third if they jump up 2.5lbs each time!

Lizzylou · 14/01/2009 14:40

I agree about the aftermath, after DS2 walking was hard (as was sitting tbh) for weeks. Sooo many stitches.

mumof2rugrats · 14/01/2009 14:41

this is the embarssing part i had no tears and no stitches dont know how lol..

Lizzylou · 14/01/2009 14:41

I had to be cut for the ventouse, was far worse 2nd time.
I kept the gas and air for the stitches...they had to prise it off me!

mumof2rugrats · 14/01/2009 14:43

i had the gas and air for delivering placenta with dd1 lol

OP posts:
pagwatch · 14/01/2009 14:45

DS1 was 7ibs 5
DS2 was 10lbs
DD was just under 10 lbs

All very quick deliveries ( DS1 under 4 hours DD under 1 hour) and all natural births with no pain relief. Although I did have gas and air with stiches with DD.
Trust me I would have had but births were too quick and gas and air ( tried with DS1) made me really nauseous
So not brave...

gingerninja · 14/01/2009 14:47

Why are subsequent babies generally bigger? I'm very nervous as DD was 8lb 11oz and I'm only little. Next one is going to be a monster isn't it? I'm already very large and I've got another 10 weeks to go. Some of these stories are making me cross my legs

mumof2rugrats · 14/01/2009 14:52

they say that a bigger lady will have big babys but all the big mums i know had small babys. before my 2dd i was a size 6 so i defently was not big but iam 5ft 8in ..

pagwatch · 14/01/2009 14:53

My mum had eight babies and whilst first one was 10 1/2 lbs and last one was the same , all of us in the middle were around 7lbs something.
So I wouldn't worry too much

BabyStarlightsMum · 14/01/2009 14:53

My second was smaller than my first
