I was obviously huge when pregnant but have a very small frame, size 8s are baggy on me unless (like now, post Christmas) I have eaten too many pies. So it was a mystery why ds1 was aslmost 11lb. I tested negative for diabetes on several occasions, although I was only just under the line I think.

mumof2rugrats · 14/01/2009 15:00

i tried healthy eatingt this week and it alright except now while dc asleep and housework done and waiting to pick dc1 up from school ..

Oh FGS move over you lot.

11 lb 7oz DS (not chubby just looked like a 3 mth old baby). Had a emergency section after 2 days of pushing, his head is huge, he is 12 and has a bigger head circ than me.
9 lb 4oz DD

mumof2rugrats · 14/01/2009 15:06

1st- 9lb 12oz- induced, epidural, forceps, haemmorhaging, transfusion
2nd- 8lb 13oz- planned cs- no points for guessing why!
3rd- 8lb 5oz- vbac

so mine got smaller!

mumof2rugrats · 14/01/2009 15:16

im hoping if i do have another it will be smaller the mw said they will monitor me alot more next time as they shouldnt of let me go that far as i now have very sore hips as my dd got stuck in my pelvis and they had to manuly move her shoulder out my pelvis ..

11lb 7oz
How was it carrying a baby that big? I felt so cumbersome with DS2, and I'm a big bird!

MadamAnt · 14/01/2009 16:39

DS was 10lb 9oz, gas and air only. He was sooooo much easier than 8lb 10oz firstborn DD!

There was a thread on here a month or so ago from someone with a GIANT of a baby...I'll see if I can find it.

MadamAnt · 14/01/2009 16:40

here

MrsMattie · 14/01/2009 16:41

DS 10 obs 2 oz
DD 7lbs 2 oz

I know which birth I preferred!

Lizzylou · 14/01/2009 16:54

12lb 5oz, oh my dear lord

I cannot even imagine walking whilst heavil pg with a baby that size! I had such a waddle with DS2.

mumof2rugrats · 14/01/2009 17:11

that baby must of hurt i thought 10lb 6oz was big but thats just made my eyes water maybe i wont have another baby ....

My cousin's third was an 11lb 2oz baby, naturally, no pain relief and no stitches!

My DD was born 3 weeks later at 6lb 6oz. Highly amusing when they were led next to each other!

merryberry · 14/01/2009 17:55

ds2, born last march was 11lb 11oz. had him at home in water, half tank gas and air, not knowing he was that big = not caring and getting on withit. 4 hours active labour. 19 effing days pre-labour, 10 days overdue. was so glad to be in labour, really enjoyed it, despite shoulder dystocia, MW was so good.

11lb 11oz is still just in the normal curve, head circ also in normal range. but he was really long, right off the graph, and tbh it was the 26" length that i realy noticed carrying him. he was so rammed in there. i complained about that a lot the last month or two. no real back ache or belly stretch to report.

merryberry · 14/01/2009 17:55

oh good god my manners...and big congratulations on dd2!

london11 · 14/01/2009 18:29

DS was 11lb 12oz - em c/s after failed induction 12 days overdue.

Now expecting twins and dread to think what size they might get to

mumof2rugrats · 14/01/2009 20:04

good luck with the twins ..

DD em c/s at 39+4 8lb8.5oz
DS el c/s (VBAC plans went south...or rather didn't ) at 40+10 10lb 10.5oz and a HUGE head (just over top of the "normal" scale) Not particularly a chubby baby, just BIG. Probably a good idea in hindsight that I didn't get my VBAC, I might have needed a stitch or two if I'd managed it...

Both times by the time I got home from hospital I weighed 1/2 stone less than before I was pregnant (m/s until 20+wks & then straight into indigestion...) So that blows the theory it's all down to Mum's overeating

There were 3 other Mum's having e/l c/s the same day & the second biggest baby was 6lb2oz, they all looked so tiny next to DS, but then he was the size of an average 3month old

He's carried on in the same vein, just 14months the other day and already starting to outgrow some of his 18-24month sized clothes....but them I'm 5'11 & DH 6'2", so we were never going to have tiddlers were we?

Lizzylou · 14/01/2009 20:33

Merryberry, DS1 was off the scale lengthwise too, DS2 was quite normal.
I take my hat off to all those who had natural deliveries with these bouncing babies!

Lizzylou · 14/01/2009 20:34

Betsy, I remember when my DS2 went for his 8 week check, lay on the changing table next to another 8week old who was wearing the same outfit. DS2 looked about 4mths older than him!

hazeyjane · 14/01/2009 20:39

I was just over 11 lb when I was born, my mum has never forgiven me, and still brings it up during every phone call.

My mum was tiny (a size 8), and I am barely 5 foot.

MrsWeasley · 14/01/2009 20:41

DD1: 7lbs 4oz on time
DS1: 8lbs 3oz on time
DD2: 10lb -all but an oz: but she was 10 days late)
DS2: 11lbs 1oz (a few days late! We knew he was gonna be big, I was huge so had a scan and was told by one Dr that the results showed baby was small for dates!!!!! LOL)

All natural deliveries with no stitches(I was more afraid of having to have stitches than anything else!)

skramblenotdieting · 14/01/2009 22:58

In answer

DS was my first, it was an awfull pregnancy I felt like I was going to explode, I was massive and I even had bruising around my belly button. I couldn't lie down to sleep for the last three months of my pregnancy. I still can't work out where my stomach was during those 3 months inbetween my lungs I think.

jadey24 · 14/01/2009 23:07

My first baby was 8lb 4oz ( 6mts nw) natural

It seems its true from reading this that the nxt ones do tend to get bigger. Im dreading my nxt one then lol
