And whilst you're here, feel free to answer any of the following...

What does one wear for induction - nightie ready for it all kicking off, or normal clothes for wandering around hospital in?

Anything else I should add to my hospital bag that I'm more likely to want with an induction?

If the prostoglandin stuff doesn't work, can I decide at that point to leave it, as I don't want my waters broken or the drip?

Would they be able to tell from a scan whether my placenta was still functioning just fine, whereby a few more days wouldn't hurt?

I'll be 40+5, and the induction is because I have gestational diabetes. It's standard practice to induce between 38 and 40 weeks for this, but I've been 'allowed' to go over because my control of it has been good.

"No contractions yet but got another 35 mins before they try and get me on a drip. Dancing to try and get him moving."

Flamesparrow · 09/10/2008 20:26

Those who have had ARM - how long until first contraction!

Hulababy · 09/10/2008 20:32

I was induced the Wednesday night and DD not born until latish on Friday night, and then only because I had a c section. Neither the induction or the breaking of my waters helped.

Hope it is quicker for CSWS - fongers crossed very soon.

Hulababy · 09/10/2008 20:34

Actually how long has she been in now? Since Monday? That is ages!!!

ohdearwhatamess · 09/10/2008 20:35

Mine started 1 hr after arm

Flamesparrow · 09/10/2008 20:38

Ohdear - were you IN labour, or part of induction?

the induction tales don't sound good!

Buda · 09/10/2008 20:39

Ooooooh! Exciting!

Off to bed now though!

And dance and wriggle and dance and wriggle. And breathe and breathe and puuuuuush!

misdee · 09/10/2008 20:41

arm to contractions about 2 hurs. midwife walked in with the drip, saw me breathing through a contraction and walked out with a 'well we wont be needing this'

is that a better story?

Mintpurple · 09/10/2008 20:41

flame - usually give 2 hours before the drip for a multip.

Good luck CSWS - I feel like coming up and delivering your baby myself this thread has gone on so long

ohdearwhatamess · 09/10/2008 20:44

I was 5cm dilated (had been so for 48 hours)but no contractions at all. Hadn't had the gels or anything else.

1 hour after ARM my waters gushed out, contractions started immediately after that, and ds2 born 1.5 hours later.

Flamesparrow · 09/10/2008 20:50

Much better misdee

hotmama · 09/10/2008 21:02
