CantSleepWontsleep is being induced tomorrow. She's disappointed that she won't get a live birth thread. Come and console her here.

And whilst you're here, feel free to answer any of the following...

What does one wear for induction - nightie ready for it all kicking off, or normal clothes for wandering around hospital in?

Anything else I should add to my hospital bag that I'm more likely to want with an induction?

If the prostoglandin stuff doesn't work, can I decide at that point to leave it, as I don't want my waters broken or the drip?

Would they be able to tell from a scan whether my placenta was still functioning just fine, whereby a few more days wouldn't hurt?

I'll be 40+5, and the induction is because I have gestational diabetes. It's standard practice to induce between 38 and 40 weeks for this, but I've been 'allowed' to go over because my control of it has been good.

she just wants a decent thread to read.

I reckon she has had baby and is just seeing how many of us are hanging on her every word

Flamesparrow · 09/10/2008 21:18

GO! GO! GO!

Now if this isn't a live birth thread - I don't know what is!

CantSleepWontSleep · 09/10/2008 23:38

Bugger. Had ve and cervix still posterior and not progressed at all. Mw gone to check with reg whether we can all in to bed and give things a chance to kick off overnight by themselves, as synto could well lead to c-sec at this point if i don't dilate. Feeling a bit down and pessimistic for the first time since this all began.

Good luck CSWS, keep positive -imagine..you'll have that little tyke in your arms soon and all this will be a distant memory x

Aitch · 09/10/2008 23:42

WriggleJiggle · 09/10/2008 23:42

Good luck with everything CSWS, hope it all kicks off soon

LackaDAISYcal · 09/10/2008 23:43

Oh, csws that's a bit pooey.

I hope they give you overnight for things to kick off.

Good Luck and try to stay positive, although I know that must be very hard at the minute.

sending lots of cervix vibes for you.

CarGirl · 09/10/2008 23:44

I would tell them that you're not having drip this time of night, you're too tired and need some sleep!

NotAnOtterinaPoolOfSpew · 09/10/2008 23:44

thinking of you csws
tomorrow is a lovely date

anonymxxx · 10/10/2008 06:12

Thinking of you, too. I was induced (severe PET), all synto, no pessary (hindwater leak) and lovely DS 12h later. Had to make 1cm - 10cm in that time. All worked out, no pain relief, healthy baby, not distressed at any point. Not the home birth with IM I wanted, but: Sometimes it is possible (=lucky) and I hope you have DC in your hands by now!!! Heads up - you can do it!

Flamesparrow · 10/10/2008 07:08

sorry for not managing that update last night CSWS - was in bed already

Today.......

"Went up to ward for some sleep, though only managed a couple of hours before getting up with contractions. Still not strong, so after some monitoring had a bit of a lie down and now back in delivery. Got to 3cm and less posterior, but mw not confident that both layers of membrane gone, so may attempt another ARM before synto"

Jas · 10/10/2008 07:11

Just checking in for news. Hope things got busy overnight for you. If not you will get to hold ds by tonight somehow.

(Sorry about lack of update post Flame, I only checked my phone this morning) I will be keeping it close today just in case...

Jas · 10/10/2008 07:12

x post. Glad I'm not the only one. Keep positive csws

FourArms · 10/10/2008 07:16

I had an induction with synto with DS2. No pessaries as had a c/s with DS1. They thought that my waters had gone, but after about 36 hours, they managed to break some more waters which were only visible at the very height of a contraction. I was v.close to having a c/s, but once those waters had gone, I dilated quite quickly.

Good luck to you

EachPeachPearMum · 10/10/2008 08:34

Well CSWS, 10/10 is a great birthdate too!

I think you're just keeping going so you can have the longest birth ever on mn!

TattyCatty · 10/10/2008 08:39

RL friend here again! Just had another update from CSWS - "Am about to have Synto. Something has to go my way so hopefully it will be this!"

Keep sending those dilating and pushing vibes ladies .

misdee · 10/10/2008 08:40

[misdee sends out contraction vibes]

c'mon cwsw, push him out double quick!

TattyCatty · 10/10/2008 08:54

Another quick update - yet more frustration! "Slight delay with synto as they are busy with other secs and need to be free in case it distresses baby".
