what do your scars look like? Mine is still a bit lumpy and raised, a bit like there's a thin tube under the skin the length of the scar. It's also pretty red (not infected or anything, had cs 8 months ago, was planned cs for breech pres). Is this normal? What does your scar look like? How long til it fades a bit more?

Mine is exactly the same and it will be two years in Sept.

everyone seems to heal differently though, know others who haven't been so lucky.

Mine sounds like that but purple rather than red. DD is 2.5

Mine is purple, 6 years ago with DS2

One end of it is granulated, where I opened it running down the stairs at 8 days cos DS1 had gone down top-to-bottom.

Quite common at this stage - it's still relatively 'new' in scar terms. It normally takes a couple of years for it to really settle down, although it varies from person to person. Everyone heals differently. I had quite a few problems post-caesar and mine looked quite red and 'tube-y' for a while but after about a year it suddenly started to really fade and flatten.

You could try massaging the scar line (won't hurt I promise, although it might feel a little strange and numb) and using a good scar oil - I use bio oil twice a day, which I get from Boots/Superdrug (about £12 a bottle so not cheap but it lasts for ages).

I saw a plastic surgeon about my scar (got adhesions so we're trying to break these down with cortisone injections - not fun!) and he said that it really takes a couple of years before things really start to settle, so although it probably feels like yonks to you and I, eight months is still very early days in skin terms.

Mine is pale pink, not lumpy, no tube. (11 months on) Does itch sometimes though, is this normal?

Mine is a bit like a thin tube, like yours, but it is now mostly skin coloured I have a little lump on it too. DD is 15 months old
I think recovery probably has a lot to do with what your skin is like. I had no stretch marks and the women in my family all have good skin so I think thats why mine has healed well.
I had lots of good intentions about moisturising it etc but in he end have done nothing special to it.

My sister bought me some C mamma healing salve when I had my op though and it seemed to soften the skin quite a bit.

Mine looks like Frankensteins neck- a big gash with 6 enormous stitch marks! Not bothered though. Friend who had elective, hers looks like someones lain a single blonde hair across her skin....cow

my scar is invisible. was just over 2 years ago and has been like that for at least a year.not that i look at it much. But the overhang, now thats a different matter....

Oh don't mention overhang! I have this delightful thing where the skin above the scar bulges slightly more than the skin below it giving a very strange effect. My career as a pole dancer is over then LOL!

Mine's 19 months old & pretty invisible, smooth & white, no itchness & minimal numbness BUT the scar after my dd was awful - lumpy, red puckered & very painful even 4 years on. When I had my ds the surgeon cut the old scar out & have me a lovely new one.

Had mine 3 years ago and can't really see the scar unless I look closely. It was a bit red and lumpy for a long time after though.

Mine is still a really dark red but not bumpy. Been 8 months now - daily applications of bio oil seem to be making feck all difference.

Had my c-s 7 months ago and it's red with faint lines that are turning a bit silver colour. It's not really bumpy but has finally lost that numb feeling in the past couple of weeks

Mine is a slightly purple-pink colour, quite flat now, but a thickish line (5 or 6mm)- cs was done on site of old scar for ov.cyst, so ended up with a slightly larger scar than the surgeon meant for there to be. where the old scar shows seperately, it's a flat silvery line, so there's hope that the cs scar will improve. cs scar is five years old, the old one is umm, (counts on fingers) ^18* years old, how did that happen? I'm sure I was sixteen just a few years ago!!!!

mine has calmed down now - DS2 is 3.5.

Still hurts a bit if I am really excessively over-tired though. My GP when DS2 was born suggested massaging vitamin E cream into it to reduce the redness and break down the hard skin.

Mine is better second time round, neater, less painful, less itchy, less irritating! But agree with fridays, it's pretty sore when I'm over-tired.

I find Sudocreme calms it right down.

Six years on, mine's virtually invisible although I can feel a slight bump at one end. The overhang provides further disguise!

The first one, from nine years ago, is pretty near invisible (just a faint, silver line if you look really hard).

The second, from six months ago, is a thick red line which slightly twinges every now and then, especially if I am very tired.

9 years on, it looks like a particularly vicious stretch mark, crosse by the other stretch marks made by retractors and is still numb and itches in hot weather - good job the overhang covers it up!
