I have been having period like pains and backache since friday evening, last night I had an hour and a half of really intense contractions every few minutes, that suddenly stopped, had a few this morning as well, but now back to the period like pains and backache, how long could this go on for?

hope your baby puts in an appearence soon

turtle23 · 14/03/2008 20:21

Me too on the evening activity. Don't get it...hours of strong BH then nothing again. Still have 9 days to go...and the rest!

Peachy · 14/03/2008 20:30

Angua I had that with ds3 and am having it with ds4 now, with ds3 it did get everythingr eady and established labour was only a few hours- so the chances are that a lot of good work has already been done. At least I am hoping so LOL

AnguaVonUberwald · 14/03/2008 21:02

Spugs, yes its my first baby, I really hope this is doing something, as its driving me around the bend!

How do I tell the difference between BH and the real thing?

Peachy, I really hope so too!!

Hi All

Have been following this thread avidly so hope you dont mind me crashing?

My waters broke at 6.30pm Friday. Have been getting contractions since 1am and niggles before that. Contractions are coming every 10 mins but are a bit "weedy" iykwim. Labour ward want to see me at 1pm Saturday.

How was your night Angua, Jammi, Turtle?

fryalot · 15/03/2008 09:01

ooh, winkygirl, welcome to the "It feels like this baby is never going to come but when it does it will be eleven farking pounds!" thread

Are you still there? Or have you gone to the hospital now?

How about the rest of you?

Lulumama · 15/03/2008 09:10

sounds promising, nipple stimulation , especially with a breast pump can help strenthen contractions.. also, if you are well and no fever and and fluid loss is clear, and baby is moving etc.. then you do not have to be induced for another day or two, NICE guidelines allow for 96 hours after SROM, iirc. up to you of course to discuss with your caregivers. sounds like things will get moving anyway.

angua, the difference between BH and the real thing is that real labour does not stop, the ctx get stronger and the time between them diminishes, they get a rhythm and a pattern,( mostly!) and last a minute or so when you are getting established.... they dont; die off if you move or lie down

hello peachy !

Lulumama · 15/03/2008 09:11

i heart squonk

turtle23 · 15/03/2008 10:49

Someone please tell me why for me it is the 6-10pm bit that I get BH every two minutes, feel backachey and nausea and then I go to sleep and wake up at 4 with v upset tummy and that's it for the day? I know the BH carry on all day as I feel my stomach go hard, but not like at night. Confusing.
How are you this morning, Angua?

Winky girl, welcome, hope your baby is now really on its way.

Jammi, good luck.

I had a good nights sleep, had a couple of really painful cramps this morning, but other than that its mostly short stabbing pains a lot of the time!!

Hideously uncomfortable when I stand up now, but nothing seems to be actually happening.

I am getting very p'd off and a bit weepy with this whole process, why can't it just start??

Lulumama · 16/03/2008 09:55

i see squonk is late with the bacon/fakon today!

how is everyone?

turtle23 · 16/03/2008 09:56

How does everyone rate acupuncture for bringing on labour? Going tomorrow to see if I can convince my body to carry on with this nighttime stuff...

Lulumama · 16/03/2008 09:59

not had it myself, but believe that a few treatments over a period of time is more effective... might as well go and enjoy it anyway !

merryberry · 16/03/2008 11:22

pic of giganto babe, now 5 days old, home and HUNGRY all the time. will post properly when orientated to which way up and which way down...

merryberry · 16/03/2008 11:22

pic on my profile, i mean, duh.

rainbowdays · 16/03/2008 12:02

merryberry - Great pics, hope you get orientated soon, I am not surprised your ds2 is hungry all the time! he seems to have missed the newborn size straight into 0 to 3 months clothes I assume. Good to hear you are home again.

Congrats jaysthird

sorry lost track of who is here on the pre-labour board but loving the bacon sarnies.

Having been here a couple of weeks back, I am now in the "convinced" it will be soon mode. Not much in way of contractions, but just feel it will be soon. But then I had this feeling for about 5 days before dd was born. I am definitely in pre-labour stage, just wishing it would kick off for real.

Thank you to all the supportive doulas and honorary doulas here.

congratulations jaybirdsthird.

No news here at all, starting to think that its a myth that you actually give birth, you just stay pregnant!!!

I think its a conspiracy!

Just when I thought it was all so much (physically) better I feel ROUGH. My back hurts, my tummy is rotten and I can't stop crying. I'm not sad, just crying. Someone please tell me that there really will be a baby at the end of all this? BH back to every 3 minutes but am quite sure that's all they are. Harumph.

JFly · 16/03/2008 16:47

NO real symptoms to report, but feel I am bloody well entitled to this thread as I should be in labour at 10 days overdue!

Turtle feel your pain (as it were) with the crying. Got in the car this morning thinking "when will this waiting end" and getting quite teary about it. Felt really rubbish yesterday with headache and some nausea - just felt not well at all. Still have headache today. Hoping it means something??

Really don't want to go to induction on Weds, but starting to come to terms with fact it may happen. Acupuncture scheduled for Tuesday - turtle, have heard very good things for it inducing labour, but suppose quite dependent on the practitioner and what not. There are certain points they will probably target for inducing labour: inside of ankle, a few around ankle/foot joints, and others. Have had good results with acupuncture in the past for other things, so thought I'd give it a go. Hope it works for you!
