When did second baby come?

I'm due tomorrow 😩😩 and still absolutely no signs I'll be going any time soon!

My first was born on his due date but I was in labour for two days prior.

When did your second baby come compared to first?

My first came by himself at 39+3. I had a 4 1/2 hour labour, only needed gas and air, basically the dream.

I'm currently 40+4 with my second and no proper signs yet Hmm Angry had a scan on Friday where they said he was 8lb 7oz already which is the size DS was at 6 weeks! In case not obvious I am getting mightily irritated.

I was born on my due date and my little brother was 2 weeks late. My mum still shudders when she talks about it.

Sorry not very helpful but sending sympathy!

@89redballoons I really do feel for you😩😩 I've got a sweep at 40+3 but was hoping to not make it there, have you had one?

Your first labour does sound like a dream 😳My first was actually (sort of) a great labour. Just really long! The worst part was waters breaking two days before he decided to arrive!

I don't even know how your coping right now, I'm so stressed and angry, I wasn't scared with my first, I didn't know what to expect but the longer I wait for this one to come I'm getting more and more scared because I know what's coming haha!

First was at 42 weeks. Second 39+3 but much bigger baby. Quite sudden both times, no signs or anything. Good luck Smile

Quite similar to you OP. First baby was born 40+1 and second was 41. I was one day away from being induced!

First was 10 days early and second was 4 days early so 6 days after the first!

Mine was also later but much quicker and easier so hopefully the same for you ☺️

My first came at 38+6, my second at 38+4. With my first I had a longer labour, but quicker recovery, with my second a very quick labour and birth but a bit longer recovery

DC1: went into labour on 40+2, born on 40+4

DC2: he wasn’t even engaged in the slightest. Waters broke on due date. Labour started 40+1, born 11 mins later.

Don’t hang about with the second. Good luck!

@boymummys yes, I had a sweep at 40+1 but didn't do anything and I don't think it was really a proper sweep as she said my cervix was still completely closed Sad she did say it was to the front and soft though. I've got another appointment tomorrow morning and I think they'll be trying again then.

I know what you mean, I'm stressed and angry too! My husband has been great this weekend and shouldered most of the parenting and housework load, but I'm feeling guilty for not being able to run about with my toddler like I normally can as I'm just too massive and achey. Part of me is desperate to have the baby, and then I remember that childbirth actually really hurts and I can't believe I'm wishing for it!

Good luck to both of us. It really could be any time now and babies can come really suddenly. It is just so frustrating!!

DS1 was born at 37+6 in three hours.
DS2 was born at 32+6 in 45 minutes. Fingers crossed it’s not much longer for you. I didn’t get to the overdue point but I was so uncomfortable towards the end so I can only imagine how you must be feeling

Thank you everyone, hoping it's not much longer😩 trying to sleep with server rhinitis, achy legs and heartburn is getting to much now!

@ThatPosterIsSoRight 11 minutes later 😳 my partners working 45 mins away from y house, and I'm 10 minutes away from the hospital so hopefully he makes it back in time with this one

@Darinka91 my first was such a long labour, but was a great recovery, 8 days later I was back to my normal self so to say apart from being tired!

@89redballoons I haven't seen my midwife since 38+1 weeks! She said I can have a sweep at next visit, I thought oh no I'll go before then as it was over two weeks ago but now I'm assuming I'll actually make it to the appointment on Thursday haha, I've been feeling the same so we have done some painting and colouring something I can do while sitting down lol, it's the Easter break now though so no idea what we're suppose to do to entertain them 😩 I feel so guilty! Yes good luck, make sure to let me know when you go haha, hopefully it's very soon for you

@Wowcherarestalkingme I've been uncomfortable since about 30 weeks lol, don't remember feelings like this with my first, he was such a great pregnancy, this one has been so draining

For my 11 minutes I was already in the hospital as waters had broken with green baby poo in (can’t remember the word). So no kitchen-floor-trauma! It was actually a wonderful experience after a very long and difficult labour with DC1. Wishing you the same!

First was 39+1, second was 40+5. Absolutely everyone - including my midwife - told me that the second was bound to be earlier so I was on 'will absolutely be any day now' high alert from 38 weeks - it felt like I'd been pregnant forever by the time he arrived!

Report
Damnedrose · 10/04/2022 21:27

My first came at 38+5 and my second came at 40+2. I had a longer labour with my second and a smaller baby

Hi. Omg I'm in the exact same situation!!!! I'm due tomorrow and I'm so disappointed baby not here yet. For some reason I thought second one would be early!!!! I went 5 days over with my first. I'm feeling exactly same as you OP. IM JUST SO UNCOMFORTABLE! And feeling really scared and stressed and emotional. I obviously just want bath to be born healthy and happy but can't help feel really sad that I'm still waiting while feeling in so much pain constantly. Can't sleep can't eat can't move really. And my whole body is swollen including my face. I've tried the usual things to bring on labour but I actually don't think anything works!!! Here's to both of us going into labour very soon 🤞🏽 xxx

boymummys · 10/04/2022 21:45

@ThatPosterIsSoRight thank you so much, I'm praying 🤞🏽🤞🏽

@HardbackWriter this is what I was told, he was engaged 3/5 at my 36 week appointment with the midwife but she hasn't mentioned anything since? The pressure down there is unreal and not able to move around much anymore😩

@Damnedrose I already know this one is going to be bigger then my first, my first was 7.7 on due date, this one was measuring 7 at my 38 week scan, so going off what the midwife says that they grow on average half a pound each week at the end he's looking at 8 plus. I have heard the bigger the easier, but only time will tell.

@huniimhome it's awful isn't it, I was absolutely fine walking until I got sciatica, and every other thing you can think of while pregnant! My feet don't even look like my own feet anymore, my hands are so swollen I can't make a fist anymore! I've done the usual things to get labour moving with no hope! Another hot curry for tea tomorrow it is 🤣 yes I'm praying you go soon🤞🏽 just want to be holding my baby, and there's only so much I can keep telling my five year old as to why he doesn't have a brother yet. He seems to think there going to the park and playing Lego when he comes home 😩🤣

Mine was also convinced the baby would come out ready to play, he specifically requested he be one of his friends. I remember thinking he'd better not be the size of a three year old in there!!

My first arrived at 40+1 my second at 39+6. With my first it was unexpected and quick, my second I was in prodromal labour for two weeks before he came, it turned out he was back to back and turning around during that time hence it grumbling on for so long.

boymummys · 11/04/2022 10:04

@Isonthecase that's what I'm thinking, I said to my partner last night, I want a baby not a toddler 🤣

@PortalooSunset thank you very much, hoping it's not to much longer, how did you manage to cope going two weeks over 😳 I could never haha

@zurala back to back is awful isn't it, that's what my first was, my waters broke 12 hours before any sort of pain started, then there was 13 hours of pain and two hours of pushing 😬😬 by the time I asked for pain relief it was already too late! Hoping this one decides to come a lot faster

Well I'm having the opposite experience to my labour with DS1 so far!

I was up all night last night feeling achey and rushing to the loo all the time, turned into regular painful contractions every 3 minutes or so this morning and I was bouncing on my birth ball and timing them and they got more and more painful but, but then I went into hospital and everything petered out again. I'm only 2cm dilated so they sent me home to rest. Now had a couple of hours of sleep but not properly contracting again, just generally achey.

Sad feeling pretty disheartened. He can't stay in there forever can he?!

I've got about 5 texts today asking if the baby is born yet. I WILL OBVIOUSLY TELL YOU WHEN HE IS Angry

Report
boymummys · 11/04/2022 19:49

@89redballoons my phones been going all day asking have I had him yet aswell, still no closer for me though, just had a curry and nothing 😩

Nooo he will be here soon for you, hopefully doesn't keep you waiting much longer, this is what annoys me with every pain, either come of don't stop making me think you are 😩

First baby came at 40+6 but on her original due date (it got changed a few weeks in, I always thought it made more sense from my dates). Horrible long labour, well over 12hrs.

Second baby came at 38+5 and was a very quick labour, like he didn't have time to wait! He's still like that now, tbh...

Good luck!

First baby arrived smack bang at 38 weeks, when I got to 38 weeks when expecting my second baby I'd had no signs and was well and truly fed up. He arrived at 38+2.

It will be soon, try not to worry OP. Ignore messages asking if baby has arrived, they will just stress you out.

Both of my two were keen to here, DS1 arrived 1 day before his due date weight 8lb 11oz, 10hr labour. DS2 arrived 21mths later, 10 days before his due date, 2hr labour, 9lb 3oz.

I was two weeks late, so you just never know. Try to relax and keep busy.

Good luck.
