... is labour on its way?! please tell me it is, I'm 40 weeks tomorrow and very fed up! I had a show yesterday morning and it hasn't stopped since. I've got contractions but they more or less stop when I sit down or lie down so true labour hasn't started yet. I feel very uncomfortable standing, with a big pressure on my lower tummy and feeling very crampy. Don't know what I'm asking really, maybe just for some reassurance that it's not going to last until 42 weeks!

Ah ha, Scones.......... never fear Mrsj is here,

Bb, sonds very similar to the start of mine. It was only 4 weeks ago so I remember well. Show was on and off for about a week, but I had on and off uncomfortable crampy feelings on the Tuesday eve and a pinky discharge all day on the wednesday, the contractions progressed slowly throughout the day. I was still in denial at 5pm, dd2 was born at 8.50pm that evening.

Sounds like things are happening,
in the wise words of Klaw,
"you will have a baby soon, maybe tonight, tommorow or in the next few days." She said that to me and she was right on the tonight bit.

Good Luck

Marsy

Thanks for text today, I have had no credit

Havent heard anything at all from my expectant Mum..............

Got the stuff you emailed me, i love that site!

mrsharrypotter · 18/06/2007 22:20

reading and baking, multi tasking at it's best. I've read Brechts The Caucasian Chalk Circle. Really enjoyed it.

Klaw · 18/06/2007 23:13

Me, wise, MrsJ? Jeez, I don't feel like that, now you've made me feel old and I'm only 40 >

I'm so chuffed that my (usually inane) ramblings are valued. I am honoured to be able to support women in childbirth and so glad that I heard the calling, but why did I have to work 20+ years at crappy jobs before it came along? [sigh]

And to meet so many other like minded, strong, beautiful women in the process has been the icing on the cake.

Klaw · 18/06/2007 23:16

Right > I'm off to bed, night night all, sleep well and hope tomorrow is a better day for contractions!

Klaw · 19/06/2007 08:23

I'm NEVER logged in this early, but had to come check for news.....

Mrsjaffabiffa · 19/06/2007 09:22

No news is good news though, hope it all kicked off in the night and bb is with baby in arms.

Klaw I wasn't suggesting you were old just that you knew what you were talking about.
Still 10yrs wiser than me though,

[walks in to find corners occupied]

Tea, coffee or gin anyone?
You have the edge on wisdom and we should all bow down before you.

[passes hot buttered croissants around]

Klaw · 19/06/2007 10:22

thanks ever so!

Well surely BB would have been back by now to update us if she hadn't gone off to have a baby... she must be having it (or have had it already - hurrah!).

Mrsjaffabiffa · 19/06/2007 12:21

So what's the weather doing in the UK today? Are you all sunning yourselves or hidden away from the drizzle?

Slim · 19/06/2007 12:21

No news? Harrrumph.

Egg · 19/06/2007 12:26

Tis sunny in SW London MrsJaffa. Nice and warm too. Where are you? Somewhere nicer and warmer?

flamingtoaster · 19/06/2007 12:27

Been keeping an eye on his thread so hope all is going well with BirthdayBabe. Mrsjaffabiffa - warm sunshine in my part of the UK today but showers predicted for later.

Egg · 19/06/2007 12:33

Is there cream with those strawberries?

Mrsjaffabiffa · 19/06/2007 12:36

I'm in SW France- Egg, Hot and Humid here today but the odd cloud.

Egg · 19/06/2007 12:49

Hmm, SW France vs SW London. I know where I would rather be . OK now DS is in bed, I am all ready for timing some contractions...

flamingtoaster · 19/06/2007 12:52

Egg - yes there's cream (pouring or whipped) and ice cream

Egg · 19/06/2007 12:58

Oh fabulous. I think I will have some ice cream, and then with some cream poured over the top, finished with a large blob of whipped cream. I am eating for two you know .

seamonster · 19/06/2007 12:59

ME TOO!

could I please have my toast and peanut butter without being looked at?
