Hey mummies!!

I am not sure if there is a thread for January 2018 babies already.... but I can't find one!
Due date 21st Jan but feel like I am going to pop anytime soon, currently 38 weeks and 3 days with first baby... really excited, extremely terrified of birth, lots of anxiety but I can't wait to not be pregnant anymore and meet my baby! Still have no idea what I am having but makes it so exciting.

Anyone else also terrified of giving birth? Was really tempted to ask for a c-section but baby is in great birthing position so didn't have the heart to ask!

Would love to hear some positive stories and would love to know am not the only one shitting myself!!

No baby here! 40 weeks today and a few twinges but nothing major.
Sweep booked for Monday and planning to spend the next few days on my exercise ball to try bounce this baby out Grin

I’m due 29th with my first. I’ve been doing hypnobirthing so am feeling pretty confident and relaxed. Have you been doing it? It’s excellent for anxious mums. I have never heard of anyone doing it and not finding it helpful for Labour.

vjp25 · 20/01/2018 06:13

Isn't it annoying waiting for these babies! I'm 40+1 today....daughters birthday was yesterday and I'm super happy they won't be sharing a birthday so now I'm totally ready for this baby boy to arrive! Sweep booked at 10:30 today, any of u ladies had a sweep before? How was it? Can't say I'm looking forward to it!

vjp25 · 20/01/2018 06:14

@KimmySchmidt1 never tried hypnobirthing hope it works well for u xx

xoguineas · 22/01/2018 10:08

@vjp25 how was your sweep? I have one booked for today. Hope all went well Thanks

vjp25 · 22/01/2018 10:12

@xoguineas it wasn't pleasant but was just uncomfortable however it hasn't worked so far! I have another booked today too! Hope yours goes well! Xx

xoguineas · 22/01/2018 10:15

@vjp25 ah how annoying- hoping yours works today as well!

I lost my plug during the night and have been very crampy so hoping the sweep will set me off Smile

Sarahrose21 · 22/01/2018 11:55

Going in for induction tomorrow, I will have this baby by the weekend even if it has to be dragged out!

xoguineas · 22/01/2018 12:04

@Sarahrose21 good luck! Thanks

vjp25 · 22/01/2018 13:19

Good luck @Sarahrose21

@xoguineas I'm not holding much hope for the sweep lol! I've been losing my plug since the last sweep on Saturday but baby seems super happy and comfy, I actually feel pretty good too, sleeping really well so should be grateful for the sleep 😂 have you had your sweep yet? X

xoguineas · 22/01/2018 13:43

@vjp25 omg I would kill for some decent sleep lol! It's at 4pm so just lazing around till then really, have you had yours? x

vjp25 · 22/01/2018 14:48

Yeah had mine at 11:30 @xoguineas it wasn't as uncomfortable as last time! At my last sweep she said I was 2cm dilated, babies head was nice and down.....this one with a different midwife she has said 1cm dilated and his head needs to come down further (apparently that can kinda pop there head more in and out the pelvis with the second!) I went home and cleaned the house in the hope moving around might help 😂 isn't it horrible not knowing when it will happen! Are u still having cramps? X

xoguineas · 22/01/2018 15:35

@vjp25 oh no that's annoying!!! You'll have to have some curry as well Grin yeah still feeling super crampy, can barely stand up straight with it!

It's the worst wait ever! I'll be gutted if I still have to wait, built myself up for it so much lol xx

NewMummy29 · 22/01/2018 17:09

Hey ladies, how's it going?

40+1 today and no sign of baby😩 been going for walks and baby's head is so low I can barely walk 😩 I am ready for this baby!!!

vjp25 · 22/01/2018 17:14

@xoguineas how was the sweep? Hope it moves along quickly!

@NewMummy29 ah I know what u mean it's so uncomfortable with the head pressure! I'm 40+3 and just impatient! X

xoguineas · 22/01/2018 17:41

@vjp25 oooooh it hurt! It's made my cramps so much worse now I can barely walk but she said I'm 2cm so hoping things move quickly from here Smile

vjp25 · 22/01/2018 17:47

It's so uncomfortable isn't it but also so quick! @xoguineas did they say they thought your cramps were early labour?! How exciting!! X

NewMummy29 · 22/01/2018 18:01

@vjp25 aww hopefully our babies arrive soon! I really don't want to end up 12 days overdue 😩 that just seems so long, and what I heard about induction seems very painful!

Last Monday I went in thought I was in labour but turned out baby's head dropped more and midwife tried to examine me she couldn't reach cervix as it was too high! But haven't been examined since then so I don't know if anything changed?! (Examination was so bloody uncomfortable, would rather not do it again!) I am guessing sweep is similar?

@xoguineas I hope baby arrives soon and everything goes well for you and baby 🌺

@vjp25 she didn't say but booked me another sweep on Wed if I don't have the baby by then. Think I might be having contractions just now though? Keep getting pains across my lower back every 10 mins or so, trying to time them to see if it could be the real thing!

@NewMummy29 thank you, you too! Thanks

vjp25 · 22/01/2018 19:25

Ohh it sounds promising @xoguineas when I had my first I laboured the whole time in my back! Keep us updated! Do you know what you are having? X

xoguineas · 22/01/2018 21:07

@vjp25 how long did you labour for? Phoned maternity unit and they said it sounds like I'm in the latent phase but that it will probably last a while Sad really struggling with this pain, it feels like all my bones are being crushed together.

Having a little girl! Do you know what you're having? x

vjp25 · 22/01/2018 21:17

@xoguineas they classed my active labour at about 7.5 hours but like I say I had a lot of cramps in my back before that I literally just thought was back ache lol! Aw how lovely a little girl! We're having a boy this time so will have one of each! Definitely sounds like you are in Labour! Eeeek you could have a baby by morning 😌😌

YouBetterWORK · 22/01/2018 21:20

39 tomorrow and no signs at all! Read that only 1 in 10 women have waters break before labour, feel like telly and films have lied to me all my life - waters always break on there!

No plug loss, and not even engagement; she is still really high. I am group strep b positive so want to avoid a sweep because it will likely do sod all and there's the risk of the bacteria getting into the uterus.

I also don't want an induction, especially if I start off like I am now as I don't want to labour for hours/baby distress/EMCS. We would rather go straight to elective. The consultant (who we saw at 38 weeks and couldn't give a stuff) went oh that's not our protocol. Our midwife however said we could put our foot down. So I have a feeling we will be seeing the consultant again at 41 and will have to act like arseholes to get what we want Sad

vjp25 · 23/01/2018 07:07

@YouBetterWORK is there a reason you think you will end up induced? Hopefully baby will make its own appearance with no intervention it's the waiting game that's the worst isn't it! Is this your first? X
