Hello love

When you wanted your home birth with DS2 who were you going to do that through?

Queen Charlottes won't let me have a home birth with them, too out of their area. Same with Watrford and Edgware birth centre can't either. My last option would be Northwick PArk. Who were you going to do yopur through?

TeeCee, it's your right to give birth wherever you wanted - even up a moutain! And it is the duty of the NHS to provide you with a midwife. They tell you these things to put you off.

Not hijacking, just wondered if you knew that.

hunkermunker · 22/03/2007 14:23

Hello!

I was under Hillingdon - not sure if that'll be an option as you're out of the borough?

Can you ring your QC midwife? How about an independent? Bit pricey though.

How are you?

RTKangaMummy · 22/03/2007 14:26

sorry to butt in

but what about Hillingdon

one of my friends had a home water birth with them

But she was a midwife {a few years earlier} so it may have made a difference

Good luck getting somewhere TeeCee

RTKangaMummy · 22/03/2007 14:27

took me so long to type

your question was already answered

TeeCee · 22/03/2007 14:28

I can have a home birth Rhubabrb but will have to do it with my local hospital and didn't really want to use them as before their 'facelift' they had 9 maternal deaths. I just hate the fucking place. I had my first appt with DD1 there and never went back. It's minging, or it was. I might have to go through them at this rate.

Or, are you saying I can make Queen Charlottes give me a home birth?

Hunker - can't afford independent, have looked into it and I'm not made of money.

I don't have a midwife to ring as such yet so just cracking on on my own trying to find someone outside NWP who'll give me a home birth. Watford just said I could try writing in. Wtf, does the bird that's head of midwifery not use a bloody phone?! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Am goiung to ring Hillingdon now.
How hard can this be?

OP posts:
Rhubarb · 22/03/2007 14:29

Erm NHS only that applies to TeeCee, sorry!

Good luck though!

SoupDragon · 22/03/2007 14:30

Didn't you have a homebirth with DD2? Who "did" that one? Or have you moved.

Not very helpful, I'm just plain nosey

TeeCee · 22/03/2007 14:30

All the hospitals I'm on about are NHS Rhubabrb. So can I make Queen Charlootes (NHS hospital) give me a home birth, can I??????????????

I don't mean to be rude TC, but is this your 3rd child? Or have you been pg forever?

Ladymuck · 22/03/2007 14:32

~Ooops - crossed with Soupy - I see its your 3rd. Sorry didn't realise that you were pg again (please tell me that it isn't a huge age gap!)

hunkermunker · 22/03/2007 14:32

Do you still have the number of the midwife who delivered DD2?

Rhubarb · 22/03/2007 14:34

Phone your local NCT. They know all the stuff about this and can advise you legally what you are entitled to.

hoxtonchick · 22/03/2007 14:34

i think northwick park has improved enormously recently teecee. since the awful deaths they have had a lot of professional input & extra staff & are now well regarded. so it might be worth a go.

bundle · 22/03/2007 14:38

teecee, you know i'm going to echo hoxty's thoughts (we've both done a bit of work on this )

TeeCee · 22/03/2007 14:39

Soupy - I was blardy lucky and had an unofficial homebirth through Queen Charlottes. When I rang to book myself in with the birthing centre at QC the midwife who picked up the phone was a 1-2-1 midwife and she said 'ohh I'll take you on'. Turned out she lived in the next 'village' to me and was very pro home birth. She did say at the time that if she wasn't on duty when I went into labour I'd have to go in. But when i ranfg her, in labour, she was asleep at home and was with me in 10 minutes. However she bloody gone off and had a baby now and the number i had for her doesn't exist anymore

Just rang Hillingdon and after 95 'ummmmm' and 75 'errrrr' she took my deatils and said that I was out of area but she'd get someone esle to cll me.

Agghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

FFS.

Oh, how annoying re your lovely midwife (obviously lovely for her, but bugger!).

Hope you can get Hillingdon to do something.

How about using Northwick Park and having Marsy as your doula?

Rhubarb · 22/03/2007 14:43

NCT might also be able to get you a doula.

TeeCee · 22/03/2007 14:44

Yeah well I might have to go and have a look round Northwick Park. It's my last esort though.
The maternity bit may have had a bit of a face lift but ...

I just hated it there, before the horrific 9 maternal deaths!

I just want a hospital that in my heart I trust and like. I'm always goning to have that [hmm[] feeling with Northwick Park, no metter how pretty it looks now they painted the alls!

Hormones and frustrating phonecalls don't go well together!

And WHY has noone spoken English that I have spoken to so far and why have them all spent 10 minutes umming and arring.

And why do all the yoga classes I want to jpin start at 6pm. People who do antenatal classes do have other kids you know.

Can't afford MArsy, would love to but really don't have spare cash.

I'd love Marsy but if I could afford her I'd just pay for an Independent Midwife and theni'd be sorted.

NCT and a doula with Northwick PArk might make me feel more comfortable.

OP posts:
TeeCee · 22/03/2007 14:50

oh my GOD, i'm going to lose it, can I find a no for NCT in my area, course I can't. Website that says it's the NCT then transfers me to some dumb domain name arse thing. Getting so cross that think I need to step away from it all and do some paid work!

bundle · 22/03/2007 14:51

TC - I forgot to ask you this, but how far are you from Edgware birthing centre? I visited there too, and that is lovely

MarsLady · 22/03/2007 14:51

I'm much cheaper than an IM. However... why don't you email me and we'll see what we see.

bundle · 22/03/2007 14:52

(they said they had women come to them from quite far afield and it's a 10 min car journey to barnet if there are any problems)

IdrisTheDragon · 22/03/2007 14:53

Don't know where you are but you mentioned Watford and here are some NCT branches nearish
