Hello love

When you wanted your home birth with DS2 who were you going to do that through?

Queen Charlottes won't let me have a home birth with them, too out of their area. Same with Watrford and Edgware birth centre can't either. My last option would be Northwick PArk. Who were you going to do yopur through?

TC x

Don't be shy. It's only cos I wanted to see why Hinker was being hailed that I opened this thread lol!

I only post what I mean... so it's not just to make nice sounds. I'm sure I've almost offered myself to you before teecee!

hunkermunker · 22/03/2007 14:53

Wish I could do something to help, TC.

You could always give them my address, although that might mean you'd have to give birth in my house... We'll have moved by then, so there'll be more room, and you'd be very welcome to set up a pool in the front room, but I appreciate it's far from ideal (Hope it makes you smile a bit though, the thought of doing it!)

hunkermunker · 22/03/2007 14:54

Ah-ha! You found it anyway Marsy! (I'd taken the liberty of emailing her the thread, TC!)

TeeCee · 22/03/2007 14:55

you've all calmed me.

marsy, emailing you now, xx

Thanks all

bundle · 22/03/2007 14:56

(one of the post natal rooms in edgware has a double bed )

MarsLady · 22/03/2007 14:56

don't knock it bundle. Room is of the essence... besides... love made the baby get in and love will bring it out!

TeeCee · 22/03/2007 15:00

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, love that line Marsy - right that's it you're hired!

I'd happily go for the Edgware Birthing Centre Bundle, but I'm having this baby at home, one way or the other! I rang them to see if they would come out to me and they said no so it's a no go.

i wasn't knocking it, far from it

NormaStanleyfEGGcher · 22/03/2007 15:03

TeeCee - NCT web site is here

NormaStanleyfEGGcher · 22/03/2007 15:04

try again

bundle · 22/03/2007 15:04

i understand.

but do have a plan b just in case, because I'd hate for you to need help and for you to feel disappointed and that everything was then out of your control.

plan the potential for hospital transfer as much as you plan for the homebirth (but probably won't need it )

MarsLady · 22/03/2007 15:28

Ah so bundle you are from my school of thought [wicked laugh]

bundle · 22/03/2007 15:33

up to 20% of non-hospital births end up as transfers, if you are one of them I want you and teecee no.3 to be safe, x

breadandroses · 22/03/2007 15:51

Queen Charlotte's will give you a one-to-one midwife and they will advocate on your behalf for a homebirth. I was initially told that one-to-one midwives are only for high risk groups (eg teenagers, asylum seekers etc) but I think if you wail enough they'll give you one.

Breadandroses - not having a homebirth but having twins at Queen Charlotte's. x

collision · 22/03/2007 15:52

I too am being nosey and wanted to see why Hunker was being called.

i must have missed your news TC!

congratulations!!

When are you due??

TeeCee · 22/03/2007 16:38

PMSL - I love that a thread called HumkerMunker has roused so much interest, but so, so pleased it has!

Breadandroses, I may get a 1-2-1 midwife agian at Queen Charlottes but I really don't think I'll get them to agree a homebirth. They are 45 minutes away. I'm going to stay with them for as long as I can and then I might have to transfer to ...eeek - Northwick Park, buit with people like Mrs on my side I feel a lot calmer about that possibility.

Wow! Great news you mad woman!!

How old are the girls now?

(I only say you are mad cos I have 2 and cannot imagine having 3!!)

DaisyMOO · 22/03/2007 17:52

Re Northwick Park - I've read the report about the maternal deaths and there's nothing in it that would make me concerned about a homebirth with midwives working out of there. IIRC all the deaths bar one were in women with serious health problems such as pre-eclampsia and HELLP which aren't really relevant if you're planning a homebirth as if you have them you won't be having a homebirth anyway!

I may be wrong, but I think it's true to say that if you end up transferring from a home birth in an emergency they will take you to the nearest hospital regardless of where you're actually booked.

Can you not just book a homebirth through your community midwife but ask to be booked at a different hospital if you transfer in in a non-emergency situation?

RedKennedy · 22/03/2007 18:04

SO glad I was nosey and read this thread too - Im currently at Brent Birthing Centre but theres talk of Northwick Park aswell (as thats where youre transfered to) and I hadnt read any stats yet.. just printed out the report on the 10 maternal deaths. Jesus Christ on a bike.

Judy1234 · 22/03/2007 18:06

You have a right to a free NHS homebirth whatever they say. If you go into labour they have to come out as I'm sure they all know.
