Gifts for new daddy?

I was wondering if anyone has ever bought a gift for your other half as a thank you for helping get through labour?

I know my partner is going to be so very supportive, as much as he has already been through our pregnancy.

Any ideas on what kind of thing to get?

It never crossed my mind TBH - he got to be a dad, which was the biggest gift I could give him.

Not at all. Didn't even cross my mind! It'll be clear how grateful you are and tbh the last thing on his mind will be getting a gift. And he might be a useless birth partner Wink I think you'll both have enough to occupy you without giving yourself the extra pressure of having to get him a gift x

OH was useless during labour, mostly just slept and went out to get food etc. I wouldn't want to buy him a gift!!

My dh was a brilliant birth partner but to get him a gift didn't cross my mind I gave him a beautiful ds & dd Wink

Why not just a simple Daddy mug or similar

A gift for 'helping' through labour?
He should be the one lavishing you in gifts for the 9 months pregnancy and shear torturous pain of childbirth and a body that will never be the same again.

I gave DH an Omega Seamaster which he had always dreamed of and the day I gave it to him found out I was pregnant so he calls it his 'daddy watch' but there was no intention for it to be so!
Dtwins now nearly a year old and he still tells people I got him his daddy watch when we found out I was pregnant which always gets a few Hmm looks but really isn't as it seemed, I'd been planning it for months beforehand!!

I wouldn't, for all the reasons mentioned above. What I would do though is buy a lovely photo frame in advance (just a normal 6*4) then you could print your favourite photo of your partner and baby shortly after they're born and put it in. He could have it on his bedside or by his desk at work (if he had one). I'm sure he would be very touched. Best of luck with it all Smile

Nope. Wasn't planning on it. He will get the joy of being in my company while the baby comes out. Then the joy of being a father for the first time. And the joy of going to get me my post birth McDonald's.

That's enough right?

So i go through 16 weeks of hidious morning sickness and heartburn followed by constipation, more heartburn, piles, vaginal varicose veins, stretch marks, more sickness, braxton hicks. Then i finally get to labour go through the worst pain imaginable push a baby out of a hole that is far too small (and curse him for his crappy genes that mean my babies have massive heads and weigh in the region of 10lb). Then attach this alien to my boob and go through toe curling pain as we spend the next few hours getting to grips with breastfeeding. Not forgetting the excruciating afterpains and the massacre that is the bleeding after birth....And I'm meant to buy HIM a gift? All he did was orgasm.
No. Just no.

No. And also dislike the idea of 'push' presents!

But if you must, a daddy mug sounds like a good idea. Got my dh one for Christmas one year :)

Although I did get a photo mug made for my dh to use at work. He'd been off for the first month and had been incredible (I was struggling to bf and was a mess). I knew he'd really miss the baby so put some really cute photos on it.

He really should get you a gift. It's absolutely true what notanaother says.

If your really want to get him something,why don't you give a little pack of food/chocolate for when you go into Labour.

You might not feel like eating but he will get hungry. And then you can help finish it once baby is born.

God I ate so much chocolate after ds was born.
