Sex 9 days after baby!!?

Oh Iv done something stupid. C section 9 days ago, bleeding almost stopped. Had sex today and felt fine apart from I started bleeding extremely heavy during and after. So much so it was all over the bed 😩.

It's calmed down now but still bright red.

I feel like a fecking idiot. 😪😪

You should get checked out by your HV or a GP, you could have retained tissue, which caused the bleeding. Ask for the map too, to be on the safe side, if you think you want to be pregnant, 9 days after giving birth, it is definitely the hormones and the sleep deprivations Grin

I'm fine thanks everyone. Bleeding has completely stopped (apart from the tiny bit when long breastfeeding).

I won't be doing it again for a long time that's for sure!

If two consenting adults have sex 9 days after a c section it is up to them. They are not stupid or crackers. They are fine.

As a side note, did everyone e here have stitches that were taken out? Mine were dissolvable or so I hope...

It's stupid because of the risk of infection. Being consenting adults is neither here nor there.

I had a sort of bead on the end of my stitches which was taken out 7 days PP ( so whoever said that was right).

Blimey! I bled for 11 weeks after my section. It was four months before I let DH go near me. Congratulations on your baby though OP. Glad the bleeding has now stopped.

If there's a chance of internal damage why are people suggesting to mention it to a health visitor.

GP apt. tomorrow op to be on the safe side and to get proper contraceptive advice and the MAP as a precaution.

My internal stitches were dissolvable. Externally, I had a long thread with small beads on either end and the midwife cut it and pulled it out in day 5 or 6?

I'm glad I didn't have dissolvable stitches,ive had them for other minor ops and they've not dissolved properly and got infected.

Amazing how quickly the body heals after a big operation.

I didn't have a bead thing. Funny. I wonder if it's regional or the doctor decides what's best at the time.

I used a condom for a while after c section due to risk of infection but I don't know how necessary that is.

You have more than one scar OP, you only see the outside one.

I had the bead with DD1, and all dissolvable with DD2. I have a far worse scar second time round, I think the bead was better. It was taken out on day 6. But as pps have said, it is irrelevent what the scar looks like on the outside, it is still healing, and you have scars internally and layers of stitching, that are at risk. You need to take care of yourself after a c-section. How you scar internally has an impact on future pregnancies, so you need to take it easy, not put any strain on the healing tissue. That means no heavy lifting, no sex, resting as much as possible etc. I bled for about 7 weeks pp, but i found if I overdid it at all, that I would bleed more, and brighter blood.

Type of stitching entirely depends on the surgeon and what they feel is best at the time and what they prefer using.

Hope your ok op, mention it to your MW when you next speak/see her just to be on the safe side.

I had a bead stitch with my first and third and clips (which were put in the wrong way round By a student with my second Confused. The bead stitch with the third didn't hold well and I developed an infection and almost ended up back in theatre - I got as far as signing the consent form when the consultant changed her mind. The stitch was left in for 10 days.

I wouldn't worry about the pregnancy part. I was told by a DR that you can't get pregnant 21 days after birth?

I think if it's settled down now and you're not in any pain you probably just weren't as gentle as needed. But if you're in any doubt do get checked.

We had sex four weeks after a vaginal birth and it was fine and the reason DC3 is here now

Everything is fine, we haven't done it since. I'm 18 days pp now. Bleeding completely stopped and I'm healing well x
