Sodding latent phase

I know I'm only 37+5, I know I'm still working but and it's a very big one at the moment, I measured my waist, I'm 50 inches around when I'm only 63 inches tall in total.

Everyone keeps commenting at work on my size, my feet are swollen to the point where it's painful to walk, the chairs at work are uncomfortable, I'm up half the night because by the time I've managed to get up to the toilet I can't get back to sleep, I have constant back pain, my boobs hurt and I'm having good contractions with pressure down below for a few hours at a time at 7 minutes apart and a minute in length.

Why won't this baby just get out now?

I will continue now looking happy and serene after getting that out but seriously this is totally beyond funny now

I'm still bloody stopping and starting, 39+2 I had a show Thursday, waters trickling since Friday. Crampy and heavy all morning today, went for a walk, 6 hours of good contractions and now they stop again. It's do frustrating I just want it over with now

Am in a similar boat trout! Am 38+5 and have been having really awful period pain turning into contractions for nearly two weeks. Every time after hours of pain it just stops. Bah.

At least your waters have gone, that is a great sign. Did you ought to let a mw know they have gone because of infection risk?

Am crampy again this morning so guess am in for another exhausting day unable to really go anywhere for grimacing and needing to pace about. Am so happy to have a happy baby in there but jeez, this is hard work.

Midwives came out Friday, said they would most likely want to induce me today but when I phoned today they decided that as I'm a home birth and so close to a proper labour with all of this babies shenanigans they want to let it carry on as I am on.

39+3 here and going crazy too. No proper contractions though or waters just pointless tightenings and slight braxton hicks, I want things to get going already!

Good luck, Trout. I had a long latent phase too although no broken waters so no time limit other than 42 weeks speeding towards me. I did inversions hanging off the sofa to get the head right into position - might be worth trying?

Ah, am down for a homebirth too so guess I will also be left to it! I won't mind at all when the baby is here :). Is reassuring your mws are happy to leave you be, I keep having paranoid thoughts my body isnt functioning properly... My ds was born on under five hours so this is all very unexpected! Have had today off my latent labour tho so hurray, I went out to the beach!

Home births are very good news with latent labours. I've been told by virtually every medical professional I've met in my second pregnancy that I'd have ended up with a C section if I'd planned a hospital birth.

I'll hold onto that thought stiffy. Am getting rather tired of filling and then.emptying my birthpool tho! He will be here soon, I must chill out!

I just sat in my birth pool for about three days, with the midwife's blessing. After all that, I was hoicked out 20 minutes before the baby arrived!

The midwife when they came out was very nice and said it would be quick when it starts as baby is in a good position and stuff. I had to go to the shops today and just walking around started it off again, but now it's stopped again. I'm finding the texts and phone calls of, is it here yet? Most helpful though

At least all this stopping and starting has got the older kids on board with the idea of a home birth

No pains for me this morning yet and normally would have had some by.now so fingers crossed I have another day off. Almost guaranteed to have them tomorrow tho!

Seeing mw on weds, can't wait to offload on her how stressful this all is - and get permission to wallow in the birthpool when it is really bad like you stiffy. The bath is too bloody small! I just stick out of it!

It tailed off enough for me to fall asleep at about 6.30. Still getting the odd one but nowhere near as good as the ones last night and I've got the full on rage at my dh because they were bad enough at 5 for me to go and make a cup of tea to wake him up thinking it was it and he went back to sleep! If I'd have kept awake and going maybe it would be full blown by now I'm just getting very tired with it.

Still maybe a drive down to Avebury and a good walk around the circle will help.

Another day off would be lovely Wilde maybe you're being allowed to rest before the big ones!

That sucks, poor you. I find nothing works to sustain or stop the labour it just has a mind of its own - don't blame yourself. That way madness lies!

Am starting to ache so am getting in the bath one to try and head it off - could just be from overdoing it yesterday building flatpack furniture! Wtf.

Well just phoned the home birth team for advice and they've decided I have to go in for a check and probable induction. Bollocks to my nice chilled home birth. Good luck Wilde

They can't check you at home first?

If all is well with baby I would be refusing the induction and going back home.

No way! How far along are you now trout? Will you do it - surely.if the baby is fine there is no need. Unless you are thoroughly fed up of course, which is understandable.

They don't seem to want to come out here, and I had a really bad time at the hospital they want me to go to a couple of years ago. They said all along that I could go to a different hospital if I needed to be induced but they haven't arranged that either. I'm sofucked off with it but I know this one probably needs out by now

It's been quite a while since your waters went, hasn't it? I'd be a bit nervous in your position too. I think bank holidays are a bad time to go into labour as far as midwife resources go, so you've been very unlucky.

Can you tell them now that you're only prepared to go to the other hospital? It's their headache to sort out.

I'll see how they are when I get there and ask for a swap if there's any sign of twattyness. Last time I was there got a miscarriage, I got refused pain relief, told to stop making a fuss and told that my baby would be burnt with all the others so I'm a little reticent about the standard of care in obs and Gynae but I'm trying to be positive

Aw tired that's a dreadful story. I have swerved the hospital that dealt with my mc too but they weren't as dreadful as that!

I forgot about your waters, having thought about that I would be feeling tetchy. Tbh am really anti hospital and induction etc but am so tired now of the constant period pain (today not pain free as I hoped) and contractions I would be pretty grateful to have him out soon.

Off home again, apparently it's not waters but watery discharge, who knew that you could gush discharge? Good heartbeat and contractions picked up on the ctg. did have to explain exactly why I didn't want to be at the hospital to the supervisor of midwives who will write it all up on the notes that they hold there to explain my fears and a promise that if I ended up there for any reason I would be treated with kid gloves. So not a total loss
