Sodding latent phase

I know I'm only 37+5, I know I'm still working but and it's a very big one at the moment, I measured my waist, I'm 50 inches around when I'm only 63 inches tall in total.

Everyone keeps commenting at work on my size, my feet are swollen to the point where it's painful to walk, the chairs at work are uncomfortable, I'm up half the night because by the time I've managed to get up to the toilet I can't get back to sleep, I have constant back pain, my boobs hurt and I'm having good contractions with pressure down below for a few hours at a time at 7 minutes apart and a minute in length.

Why won't this baby just get out now?

I will continue now looking happy and serene after getting that out but seriously this is totally beyond funny now

Good luck for your sweep stiffy! And with your dds New school - big day for you it sounds like.

WildeRumpus · 13/05/2013 08:22

X post yes trout I keep hearing this but... Am scared of real labour now. All pain has gone overnight so have a reprieve.

Am.having a sweep on weds and was actually offered one last week at 39 weeks which really surprised me. I declined as had ds with me and it just felt a bit early. I will.not decline on weds! She offered when I said about all my latent labour issues and how tiring it all was... Took pity and seemed to think.I could benefit from a wee nudge in the right direction. And that I need to relax :) hehe.

Something's got to happen soon, I just dressed my poor dog up as Marilyn Monroe complete with a wig, he just let it happen, he's a huge butch boy dog who's as big as me

Hahaha!

I am a magnificent 2cm dilated and 50% effaced. Midwife fairly pleased and optimistic of action. Fingers crossed.

Tiredtrout · 13/05/2013 10:31

Ooooh good luck, keep your legs crossed on the drive to the school then head for all the speed bumps you can on the way back

We've turned back. Painful contractions every 6/7 minutes. It'll all stop now we've made that decision!

Tiredtrout · 13/05/2013 12:10

Sounds good stiffy, good luck

WildeRumpus · 13/05/2013 12:48

Yay stiffy good luck! go go go!

Tiredtrout · 14/05/2013 07:06

Well I checked under the quilt before I got up and still no baby, I also got a text overnight from someone from work checking if it had turned up yet just in case I'd forgotten why I was on leave or I was keeping a baby a secret, which at this rate I'm tempted to do.

Wilde anything? Stiffy?

Where are the babies?!

It's my due date today. Typically Crampy but have an action packed day of playdate fun so am ignoring it :)

If anyone texts me asking if I have any news I say yes and that I am pregnant! Very facetious :)

Tiredtrout · 14/05/2013 08:04

I'm trying to get in with an acupuncturist today, and will chase my midwife again. People are even texting from their night shifts now to ask where the baby is, it was so much better when I had my first in the days before mobiles being the norm and no such thing as Facebook. zuckerberg has a lot to answer to! Suppose I better get up, I have new and exciting fancy dress plans for my poor and unfortunate dog.

Holding out for stiffy to come up with the goods now though

Morning. Damn those texters. I had four texts before 9am on my due date!

Anyway, I can provide. Baby boy born just after 11pm last night. My contractions were a bit stop-start from mid-morning (post-sweep) till late afternoon. We went for a walk and they stepped up and stayed pretty regular. Got in the birth pool and called the midwife. By the time she arrived the contractions were intense and every 3/4 minutes. Imagine my pleasure when on examination I was 2 sodding cm. She said it was because my waters were stopping the head from descending and dilating the cervix and once they went we'd be off. But I was pessimistic, in lots of pain and only allowed paracetamol. She also said I needed to be upright so no pool. Luckily my waters went after only another hour of this, and the baby arrived 20 minutes later, only 5 minutes after the midwife raced back into the house.

Right, you two. Let's get those twinges WORKING!

Tiredtrout · 14/05/2013 09:53

Yay stiffy baby! I've done it, I've booked an acupuncturist for lunchtime, I will get this thing out of me if it's the last thing I do. Bloody midwife is still dodging me too.
I hope you're having lots of lovely snuffly hugs now stiffy

OP posts:
WildeRumpus · 14/05/2013 15:23

Yay stiffy you did it! Congratulations am so pleased for you! :)

Mw and sweep for me tomorrow. So hope it results in a baby sooner rather than later...

Good luck trout!

Tiredtrout · 14/05/2013 16:36

Accupuncturist refused to treat me in case I went into labour, she did tell me all sorts of lovely things about god though, not quite what I had in mind to be honest. I'm currently in a lavender and clary sage bath, I've booked a different accupuncturist for tomorrow and a massage too. I have got a sweep booked in for Thursday as well and midwife is talking about booking my induction. I'm going to get this thing out by hook or by crook.

Good luck for tomorrow Wilde

Good luck, Wilde.

And what on earth sort of acupuncturist was that, Trout? My acupuncturists have TRIED to make me go into labour. Good luck with the different one.

Tiredtrout · 14/05/2013 19:40

A very odd one, on the plus side today my dog is dressed as a pirate complete with big gold earring and parrot on his shoulder

OP posts:
WildeRumpus · 15/05/2013 07:49

Your poor dog :) I thought people went to.acupuncturists to help get into labour etc.t too. How odd they refused, is not like you would be prem is it!

I have decided this baby isn't going to make an appearance for a while yet! Am waiting to hear from uni to check I have officially finished and wonder if this is what is stopping me from relaxing enough to actually go into labour... Have a suspicion it is! If I still have work to do I need to do it before the baby is here. Really do.

Hope you had a baby in the night trout and that you have having fun with your wonderful newborn stiffy!

Tiredtrout · 15/05/2013 09:49

Still no baby, have planned today's costume for the dog, it's one of his favourites and dd is threatening to take him for a walk in it. Off to a different accupuncturist this morning and massage this afternoon, I'm going to have a go at relaxing the baby out.

What work have you got to do Wilde?

OP posts:
WildeRumpus · 15/05/2013 12:53

What costume today?! What kind of dog do you have?!

Good luck at acupuncturist! And a massage! Exciting day:)

Ah I finished a PhD last month but my examiner might want me to just make a couple more amendments before releasing me... I am hoping not but you never know.and now is on my mind. Eek.

Tiredtrout · 15/05/2013 13:04

Today, festival chic fairy, it's especially funny as he gets so excited about dressing up, he's a large husky shepherd cross so fits adult size costumes.

Accupuncture was good, got some good ows coming already! Hopefully they'll keep coming.

A phd is an amazing achievement though even with a tiny tweak

OP posts:
WildeRumpus · 15/05/2013 13:32

Hehe your poor dog, I love it.

Yay for ows! Yay! Sending labour vibes!

Yes tweaking is fine... but not with a newborn! I was hoping to have heard by now pffffff. Well nae matter anyway.

Tiredtrout · 15/05/2013 14:39

When's your sweep?

OP posts:
WildeRumpus · 15/05/2013 14:59

Half four! Every single an appt I have had has been t half one but today is really late:) sods law! Been keeping super busy taking ds to the park and making brownies!

WildeRumpus · 15/05/2013 17:14

apparently am ready to pop and they haven't made an AN apt for me next week! Am 3cm gone already which is great and 90% effaced :)

Sweep was completely fine tho am in a LOT of pain now already - think that is par for the course after a sweep tho isn't it.

laters, I have a toddler high tea to prepare (er, pasta).
