Sodding latent phase

I know I'm only 37+5, I know I'm still working but and it's a very big one at the moment, I measured my waist, I'm 50 inches around when I'm only 63 inches tall in total.

Everyone keeps commenting at work on my size, my feet are swollen to the point where it's painful to walk, the chairs at work are uncomfortable, I'm up half the night because by the time I've managed to get up to the toilet I can't get back to sleep, I have constant back pain, my boobs hurt and I'm having good contractions with pressure down below for a few hours at a time at 7 minutes apart and a minute in length.

Why won't this baby just get out now?

I will continue now looking happy and serene after getting that out but seriously this is totally beyond funny now

Ooh, good luck. That sounds very promising indeed.

Are the ows still going, Trout?

Tiredtrout · 16/05/2013 07:26

Where's that baby Wilde, I have high hopes for you pulling one out of the bag as it were.

My ows stopped again at about 11 last night. I'm booked for a sweep today but I have to call my midwife and remind her or she would forget. I'm running out of ideas to get things working, officially 41 weeks now, and I've tried in no particular order, the beast with two backs, raspberry leaf tea, pineapple, curry, big hilly walks, nipple fiddling, solo fiddling, evening primrose oil, ball bouncing, accupuncture, aromatherapy, bumpy roads in the car, and pretending I'm not pregnant nor overdue. This is officially not very funny

When's your sweep trout? Hopefully that'll do the job :)

I don't have a baby yet! Hehe! Just tailed off as per even tho all seemed to be cracking on. Am latent phase queen :) am quite fine about it tho, he will be here very soon and was so reassuring having the mw say that I am labouring with all these pains and stop starts because I was 3cm dilated. Hopefully will be the same for you trout :)

Tiredtrout · 16/05/2013 08:19

Mines some time this afternoon, I have a dippy midwife who I need to chase for everything. Bloody latent phase indeed. I just tried to turn over in bed and my belly took time to catch up. I'm going to go for the ignoring pregnancy technique again today

Look at you showing off with your 3cm. When it kicks off again that'll be you done I reckon

OP posts:
WildeRumpus · 16/05/2013 08:27

With yesterdays contractions I have to be even more than 3 now! Oooh!

Good luck for later. Do you get on with your mw? I don't think I would like a dippy one. My mws are on call tonight so hope.baby decides to come then!

Tiredtrout · 16/05/2013 08:32

She's ok, just never seems to answer her phone, she's also booking my induction for next week. I haven't seen her much really

Tiredtrout · 16/05/2013 15:49

How you doing Wilde, anything more? Still no reply from my midwife to confirm coming today for the sweep, been hanging around all day

OhThisIsJustGrape · 16/05/2013 16:11

I had nearly a week of stop/start contractions and it drove me insane so I feel your pain.

I tried reflexology in the end, DD was born 12hrs later Smile Obviously I have no idea whether it worked, she was going to arrive at some point regardless! But, the reflexology actually gave me the best nights sleep of my entire pregnancy - until 4am when I awoke to my waters breaking.

Dd was back to back hence why everything had taken so long to get started but once it eventually got going she was born within 2hrs of my waters breaking, at home Smile

Good luck ladies, your babies will be here soon!

Tiredtrout · 16/05/2013 16:23

Grape I feel your pain entirely, I'm 41 weeks today, been chasing the midwife who I know is working today all day as she said she would do a sweep today but getting nowhere with her, she is not replying to any of her messages. I've also found out that although I'm booked in as a home birth my hospital have a policy of induction at 41+3 which is crap as my dd has gcse exams all next week and needs me at home with her which was the whole point of the home birth. I've tried everything to get this one out but I think it's s clingy one

WildeRumpus · 16/05/2013 16:29

Thanks grape. Always good to hear!

trout am confused by your mw situ. Where is she? Do you have an.independent mw?

All fine here thanks! Sharp labour pains on and off all day so is a sign that things are moving forward but nothing that suggests active labour will start any time soon. Am not worried any more tbh, he will be here sooner rather than later and at least I know this extended latent stage is working. :)

WildeRumpus · 16/05/2013 16:30

trout no one can force you to be induced.

Tiredtrout · 16/05/2013 16:33

My midwife is a community midwife based at my gp surgery, I spoke to her on Tuesday, she said she would see me today but to call her in the morning to remind her. I did that but her phone goes straight to voicemail. I've left 2 messages and texts, the main office she is attached to only answer between 8.30 and 9.30 weekday mornings unless I'm in labour when I can call triage for the home birth team. It's a bit of a crappy system really

OP posts:
WildeRumpus · 16/05/2013 16:53

Gosh that sounds rubbish for you! I am at a super rural practice and mine isn't even.like that. I would be v cross at having to remind a professional about her appts tbh. Feel.for you chuck.

Tiredtrout · 16/05/2013 16:58

It is interfering with my attempts at being all lovely and zen like. Keep going with your twinges I have high hopes that one of us has to have a baby soon, surely they are running out of space in there

OP posts:
Tiredtrout · 16/05/2013 21:03

Well she finally turned up, I'm all of 2cm and she managed to get a bit more stretched around, been very sharp twinges since and I've managed to persuade the hospital to hold off an induction till next Thursday

WildeRumpus · 16/05/2013 22:13

WildeRumpus · 17/05/2013 04:57

Tiredtrout · 17/05/2013 07:11

Yay for having a baby, what size and flavour? Hope you are all good and I'm sure it is a gorgeous one. Mine is still hiding but I've been up a lot in the night with cramps and goo so fingers crossed

OP posts:
StiffyByng · 17/05/2013 10:01

Hurray, Wilde! Tell us more.

And come on, that goo. I sense a baby Trout today. It's DD's birthday today so a fine day for it.

Tiredtrout · 18/05/2013 05:35

41+2 now, been having lots of pain and goo since Thursday but still no baby, getting a teeny bit frustrated, still each breathtaking can't take another step type pain is one closer to baby I spose

OP posts:
WildeRumpus · 18/05/2013 09:43
