Is it possible to push a baby out within 30mins?

I'm currently 16weeks pregnant but as I have health problems I'm only allowed to push for 30mins when the time comes.

So I was wondering if it's possible?

With DC1 I pushed for 1hour and ended up with vontuse(sp), with DD I was able to push until DD was born but I don't know the time it took.
Both of them labours was before I got this illness so thos time it's really different.

Definitely possible, especially if it isn't your first baby. Good luck :)

firawla · 24/08/2012 12:03

my 3rd baby they wrote on the notes that pushing stage was 0 minutes! so yes 30 is possible especially as its not your first, good luck :)

SparklyGothKat · 24/08/2012 12:04

I have pushed all mine out within 10 mins. My dd3 was 2 mins. It is possible.

booksandchoc · 24/08/2012 12:05

Yes definitely, I only pushed for 20 mins max, from feeling the bearing down till dd was born.

HoratiaWinwood · 24/08/2012 12:05

Oh yes.

I pushed DS1 for four hours. I pushed DS2 for ten minutes or so yet my fanny is still as tight as ever.

Good pushes are more effective. Don't waste any.

Fc for you.

My third stage lasted 18 minutes, I needed forceps as I was too tired (long induction), I'm pretty certain if I had enough energy he would have been out in less than those 18 minutes.

hugandroll · 24/08/2012 12:06

Yup ds2 was 15 mins, I was 4hrs start to finish yet on ds1 I was 26hrs, 2hrs pushing and vontoose so I prove that no two are the same and just because it took ages before it doesn't mean all your labours and deliveries will be :)

cece · 24/08/2012 12:07

DC3 was 12 mins pushing. I think it was 3 or 4 contractions.

jkklpu · 24/08/2012 12:07

yes - I pushed for about 5 contractions with ds3

SparklyGothKat · 24/08/2012 12:07

I will say that I went from 4cms to actually delivered dd3 within 20 mins.

Rikalaily · 24/08/2012 12:07

3 of my 4 took less than 30 mins, my 4th was down as 0 mins, lol.

If you have an epidural they leave you until the baby is decended a fair way before they start you actively pushing so this could be an option for you to have a fast 2nd stage. Good luck Smile

Did it with dc2 and dc3. Didn't really push in an organised/set way with either of them. Went into the zone, did what body told me.

bumpybecky · 24/08/2012 12:08

dd1 took a while, maybe 30 mins
dd2 I didn't push but breathed her out, definitely less than 10 mins
dd3 I didn't push at all, she decided she was coming and that was that she was out, second stage recorded by midwives as a minute as they had to put something in the box!
ds again no pushing he popped out by himself, like dd3 it was more an explosion than anything else, he came out with some force!

don't know if it was because they were #3 & 4 or whether it was because they both had anterior placentas, but they were fast - it was quite shocking at the time

good luck with yours :)

lollystix · 24/08/2012 12:09

Ds1 - crash section, ds2 was 40 mins pushing, ds3 was 6 mins pushing and ds4 was 10 minutes pushing

SchrodingersMew · 24/08/2012 12:10

If pushing is second stage what is third? Confused

OnlyWantsOne · 24/08/2012 12:11

I did it last night in 3 minutes :)

CaptainHetty · 24/08/2012 12:11

I pushed for 2 minutes. Yes, perfectly possible.

Third stage is delivering the placenta, I believe :)

vvviola · 24/08/2012 12:12

For DD2 I was 45 minutes from waters being broken (8cm & no contractions) to delivery. Considering I did some hanging on to the bed & then had to call the midwives back in to help me on to bed because I needed to push, I reckon actual pushing was probably about 15 minutes.

scentednappyhag · 24/08/2012 12:12

My pushing stage was marked down as 5 minutes, I'm still convinced it was down to the gallons of raspberry leaf tea I was drinking in the lead up Grin

javotte · 24/08/2012 12:14

DS (induced, epidural) about 5mn pushing.
DD (100% natural) less than 2mn (I had to stop pushing for about 30s because she had the cord around her neck). Smile

SchrodingersMew · 24/08/2012 12:14

Ahh okay, my second stage was an hour. I thought the third was the pushing bit. :) But... I was told I wasn't allowed to push for an hour Hmm so I am assuming some of this time was taken up by me trying to hold him in! :o

musttidyupmusttidyup · 24/08/2012 12:14

Dc1 60 mins + ventouse
Dc2 40 mins
Dc3 20 mins from 5cm to out. 2 or 3 pushes.
Body learns quick! (but not quick enough) Smile

SummerRain · 24/08/2012 12:16

I never pushed for more than 10 minutes. 3 pregnancies

JugglingWithFiveRings · 24/08/2012 12:18
