Is it possible to push a baby out within 30mins?

I'm currently 16weeks pregnant but as I have health problems I'm only allowed to push for 30mins when the time comes.

So I was wondering if it's possible?

With DC1 I pushed for 1hour and ended up with vontuse(sp), with DD I was able to push until DD was born but I don't know the time it took.
Both of them labours was before I got this illness so thos time it's really different.

So yes it's possible.

DS1 was 15 minutes as I overdid the G&A, but DS2 and DD were officially 0 minutes. DS2 was so unexpected (MW thought it would be another 3 or 4 hours...) that there was actually no one to catch him as he came out, and he bounced straight on to the bed (I was kneeling up, holding onto the head rail)

I would say, try and keep active and if you can try not to end up lying on your back. Gravity really helps ime and kneeling up or squatting can speed things up. I found it hurt less too, but then I had OP babies and lying down was incredibly uncomfortable.

DD was back to back and took 1.5hrs of bloody hard pushing. DS was also back to back, but turned as he was being born, and took about 10mins of pushing (nowhere near as hard as DD). I remember getting an intense burning pain after 7mins of not so heavy pushing and thinking 'Oh God, I'm going to be in agony when he crowns...' when the midwife said 'And just pant now Bunnyjo, his head is birthing nicely...' I was literally Shock and he came out in a one'er during the next contraction Grin

With my last two I didn't even push them out, DD3 I was lying in a foetal position, turned Ono my back and felt her coming down and being expelled, there was no pushing from me seriously, MWs weren't ready I said I am pushing they said ok have a little push, head out followed by body.

DS was the same, I was about 6cms and fed up so I told them to break my waters, 4 minutes later he was born.

The first one was about 20 mins, second one about 5 mins.

With dd3 I had no control over the pushing. I was 4cms when they broke the rest of my waters (had lost some 10 days before and was induced) hAd about 15 mins of very intense contractions. Suddenly I needed to push, midwife wasn't ready and didn't examined me before her head was out. Took 2 pushes and was timed at 5 minutes but I think it was more like 2.

hi op, i pushed for 30 mins, and it was like a first birth as my first only got to 5 cm no problem and i had epidural too

seabuckthorn · 26/08/2012 10:02

DS2 was out in two pushes. Definitely under 30 minutes!
I pushed when I had a really strong contraction and kept going for longer than I thought if that makes any sense?!
Good luck

25 mins of pushing here.

First baby!

They said the words 'we may have to cut you slightly to help baby out' .

He was out 3 mins after!

Zhx3 · 26/08/2012 22:34

Dc2 came out in 10 minutes (blind panic, he plopped out in the bathroom).

Dc3 arrived within 20 mins of my waters being broken.

You have to push harder than you thought possible. I screamed a bit, but on calm reflection, that screaming energy would have been better spent on pushing :o.

Yeah - my second stage was about 25mins with both DS and DD. My contractions never got very frequent - I'd say each cycle lasted about 6mins... yes that feels right as it only took four or so contractions to squeeze them out. They were both front to back though, and on the correct side for them to remain so on the spiral out; if they hadn't been I doubt I would have been so quick.
