How long did you wait until first having sex after giving birth?

I'm glad it's worked out that way for you! I've always found it difficult, so here's hoping!

Ttc sucks, I gave up and just did it when we were in the mood around ovulation, didn't force it if DP wasn't in the mood, worked right away whereas before it was stressful. Good luck!

OhEmGee24 · 16/07/2012 20:57

Fair play to those of you who can feel sexy when bleeding Confused

SauvignonBlanche · 16/07/2012 21:00

3 weeks after 1st EMCS, 2 weeks after 2nd.

Cydonia · 16/07/2012 23:32

It's the thought of a teeny baby being in the room that's putting me off! DS is 8 weeks and not the best sleeper so as well as being too knackered I think I'd be put off by his presence and not wanting to wake him!

I suppose that's an option, though will probably still be distracted wondering when DS is going to wake up!

7 weeks - was the first chance we got after the bleeding had stopped and the stitches had healed. only had about 3 stitches but they were in a place that would have made sex impossible. It was about the right time, it didn't hurt and it was nice as it had been some time - I spent the end of the pregnancy feeling uncomfortable so no sex at all in the last month. However, it's 13 weeks now and we have only managed it twice.

Vickyjb · 05/12/2015 21:58

Does anyone recommend using sex toys soon after child birth I dont want to get naked un front of my hubby :(

Scattymum101 · 06/12/2015 21:31

Dd1 - second degree tear and stitches and bled for 6 weeks - dtd at 7 weeks post baby after a LOT of wine. Was fine.

Dd2 - slight graze and no stitches but in some ways it felt it took longer to heal. Was VERY swollen too and had internal bruising in my back and stomach due to very intense contractions during pushing stage so felt quite battered and bruised internally. Bled for 4 weeks.

Dtd after 5 weeks and it was fine.

I could not have contemplated dtd after a few days as I was still quite tender and my boobs hurt like fuck when my milk came in. Also with the issues with my back and bruised tailbone etc.
I Defo couldn't have entertained it while I was still bleeding.

LibrariesgaveusP0wer · 06/12/2015 21:55

Monkeyfacegrace - weren't you in masses of pain about four days in when your milk came in? I remember your thread because there was so little you could do. You really felt sexy in that much discomfort?

Snossidge · 06/12/2015 22:00

God, months with all of them! I was all blood and milk and stitches and exhaustion in the days/weeks after they were born.

Ahardmanisgoodtofind · 06/12/2015 22:03

8 weeks with dc1(cut and stitcher), only dtd once since dc2(tiny tear and couple stitches), she was about 3 months I think.21 weeks now and to be honest im too bloody tired, still too fat and would rather sleep at the moment.oddly I felt more up for it when dd was first born but too much blood.

monkeyfacegrace · 06/12/2015 22:06

libraries you are about 4 years too late.

I've had 2 pregnancies since this thread Grin

LibrariesgaveusP0wer · 06/12/2015 22:10

Ah. It's a bloody zombie. Sorry!

I remember your thread because the hell of milk coming in has got worse each time for me (they were the size of my head by my third ) and I really felt for you! I was shocked anyone could feel frisky in that state. It hurt to breathe too vigorously let alone anything else!

monkeyfacegrace · 06/12/2015 22:13

My first two didn't affect my boobs at all.

It was only the latest dd who caused problems. The milk was the worst part of recovery! Luckily it went really fast. After I posted, it took about 3/4 days I think and it had dried up.

I'm trying to convince DH for another baby so I expect I'll be whinging on here again next year Wink

TurquoiseDress · 06/12/2015 23:59

It was 8 weeks after elective CS
The experience was ok, just I was feeling overweight & flabby!

Groovee · 06/12/2015 23:59

8 months with Dd and 2 weeks with ds

Sleepingbunnies · 07/12/2015 00:02

8 months with the first, maybe 3 months with the second. First birth was horrid :(

alltouchedout · 08/12/2015 13:19

Just under 3 weeks with DS1, 10 days with DS2, 5 or 6 weeks with DS3 (born with hands on head, made healing a whole different ball game than the others). Fine every time :)

whatsoever · 10/12/2015 19:13

5 months. Episiotomy and infected stitches that were sore for 4 months. The extra month was being mentally ready & having coil fitted. Kept my bra on because my boobs were grim and prone to firing milk like cannons. Wasn't a wildly sexy kinda sex but I think we both wanted the first time out of the way so it could start improving!

If I hadn't had stitches, I could imagine it being a bit earlier but not a) before bleeding stopped (6 weeks for me) or b) before baby moved into their own room (DS moved at 8 weeks).

TattieHowkerz · 12/12/2015 08:36

5 or 6 weeks.

I'd had forceps and an episiotomy so it was still a bit tender, for the first few seconds anyway.

mrsmugoo · 15/12/2015 21:44

Oh god months! Whenever the baby was asleep, I was too! And breastfeeding killed my libido.

Thankfully it came back in force when I stopped feeding and we more or less went straight into TTC number 2.
