I'm now 5 days overdue with second DC and fed up to the back teeth of waiting.

Been having twinges the last 24 hrs and was convinced lastnight that labour was actually starting but they've faded now.

Saw the MW today for a sweep but she said it would be too painful and I should wait a few more days to see if DD comes of her own accord.

Arghhh, I'm actually beginning to wonder if I'm ever going to actually give birth. sorry, for the whingefest......

Go for lots of waddles walks in the evening and have lots of sex. I made DH shag me every night for the final week of my last pregnancy.

stripeyZ · 05/04/2012 17:33

I'm three days over due with no signs either. Starting to feel a bit pissed off now. Been having braxton hicks constantly but no other real signs. This is my first so i'm a bit clueless. Baby is 2/5 engaged & keeps poking my cervix which bloody hurts! I'm told all these are good signs but still nothing, nada, zilch...

Will try a shag later but really feeling far too shattered for anything too effortful, so DH will have to do most the work Wink

VintageNancy · 05/04/2012 17:43

I'm only one day over and am getting very impatient! Going out walking every day and get loads of BHs including pretty crampy/painful ones at night that get my hopes up but they've gone by morning every time.

mumtorobbie · 05/04/2012 18:41

Its so frustrating. The longer she takes to arrive, the more I'm dreading the actual birth!

Go onto YouTube and look up videos of accupressure points to induce labour. My dh and I spent a whole afternoon pressing various bits of my body and I went into labour at 3 am the following day. Good luck!

bobblesmama · 05/04/2012 19:14

My little one is due today and I am also fed up of waiting. Lots of braxton hicks and cervix pain but no sign of labour.

Saw the midwife today and she couldn't have been less interested if she tried.

I'm really trying to just ' forget ' about it until she is ready but I can't leave the house without someone commenting and its beginning to get on my nerves!

Bloody phone hasn't stopped texting either [grumpy emoticon]

CruciFlisspaps · 05/04/2012 19:38

If you're 40+5 then you're not overdue.

Normal pregnancy is anywhere between 37 and 42 weeks Grin

None of the old wives tales (curry, long walks, sex, acupressure, standing on one leg singing the alphabet, pineapples, praying to the moon) work. If they did then no-one would need to accept medical induction of labour. If they did work, then they'd be banned throughout pregnancy, and I've yet to see a pineapple or a lamb bhuna with a warning sticker on it.

Anyone who tries them and claims they work is almost guaranteed to be within that 37-42 week window anyway, and therefore full term and likely to go into labour at that time regardless. The same with a sweep - they only work if you're dilating anyway and are likely to go into labour so if you have one and it works, then it was probably going to happen then anyway, and if you have one and it doesn't then you've had someone rummage around in your fanoir unnecessarily and may as well have not bothered Wink

And if you think I can't possibly understand and am being very unsympathetic, my DD was finally born after induction at 40+16, and I am currently 40+1 with DC2. I am in the late pregnancy boat with you - it's not something that's a long distant memory :)

For those of you getting texts and facebook messages, I gift you this link: www.haveyouhadthatbabyyet.com

It's been my status for the last week or so and the bloody irritating excited messages and calls have stopped - bliss!

mumtorobbie · 05/04/2012 19:38

Thanks fir that candy. I'll have a look tonight!

Being 2 days overdue i can totally sympathise. My first was 5 days late so i am hoping that sometime over the weekend this one will make an appearance. Like you i have braxton hicks and cervix pain but still no sign of actual labour starting - tried everything so far from clary sage oil to sex. It's just a waiting game, be as patient as you can (easier said than done) and enjoy the last few days of your pregnancy - it won't last forever (although it certainly feels like it at times). Take it easy :)

stripeyZ · 05/04/2012 20:41

Just sweated my way through a super spicy chilli & about to look on youtube for acupuncture pressure points.

Probably won't work but will at least give me something to do other than whinge Grin

mumtorobbie · 05/04/2012 21:19

Thanks for the post Cruci. It's just what I needed tbh-a reality check!

Just enjoy the last few days (and it is days at most now!) before the newborn chaos starts Grin

VintageNancy · 05/04/2012 22:05

You're so right Fliss - I think maybe I'll skip the walk today and nap instead. When labour starts I'll be glad I'd rested up instead of walking miles the day before :).

creativepebble · 06/04/2012 22:13

CruciFlisspaps ; Brilliant link. Thank you.
I was 40+18 with first DC and wish I'd had it then!

I'm now 40+3 and waiting but... you know... whenever....

Good luck OP

LittleStranger · 06/04/2012 22:28

And good luck to flisspapps too. Your many posts Re induction and being overdue were really helpful before DS2's recent birth so just wanted to hijack thread slightly to say thanks for your wise words.

CruciFlisspaps · 07/04/2012 10:18

Blush Glad that you found it helpful. If anything I say on here about anything is useful to anyone at all, then it means my hours on MN are not wasted :) I do worry people think 'oh god, she's off again'! Congratulations on the birth of your DS Grin

mumtorobbie · 07/04/2012 11:15

Well still no dd and it's my bday today so making the most if it.

Feel pretty rotten today though. Exhausted and feeling v sick and noticed this morning that ny boobs are leaking so could be a good sign. I really thought she'd be here by now!

OP posts:
CruciFlisspaps · 07/04/2012 17:45

mumtorobbie If it's any consolation, I feel exhausted and sick too, but no leaky boobs (although they didn't leak even when BF DD, so that means nothing)

stripeyZ · 07/04/2012 18:34

Happy birthday _mumtorobbie Smile

Sorry you're feeling rubbish. Hope you've managed to have a nice day still & have been spoilt lots.

Thought my waters had gone yesterday but no....that's twice now I've been convinced! I am getting a bloody show today though & what I think are irregular contractions.

Really hoping it all turns into something. Been sent for monitoring three times this week so just want to get him out now.

CruciFlisspaps · 07/04/2012 19:05

Oh! I missed that it was your birthday today!

Happy birthday Grin

Fingers crossed for you StripeyZ :)

mumtorobbie · 07/04/2012 19:06

danielle76 · 07/04/2012 19:22

happy birthday, hope you're managing to enjoy. I went 12 days over my dates with baby number 5, she only arrived after mw booked me in for an induction, i tried everything including 4 mile walks into the city center, didn't produce a baby, but gave myself horrid back ache, i truly feel you frustration, good luck hope you little one arrives soon :)

stripeyZ · 07/04/2012 21:32

Thanks guys. Getting contractions every 10mins now but feel like they are getting weaker. Hope they don't tail off. Show is still going strong though. V weird to see blood after all this time!

CruciFlisspaps · 07/04/2012 21:45

StripeyZ Sometimes they can tail off and your body rests, and then they come back and get going again. Don't worry if that happens :)

stripeyZ · 07/04/2012 22:19

Thanks Fliss that's good to know. Be nice if I could get another sleep in Wink

Worried about the show now, just seems to be red blood coming out Confused God I feel so clueless!
