I'm now 5 days overdue with second DC and fed up to the back teeth of waiting.

Been having twinges the last 24 hrs and was convinced lastnight that labour was actually starting but they've faded now.

Saw the MW today for a sweep but she said it would be too painful and I should wait a few more days to see if DD comes of her own accord.

Arghhh, I'm actually beginning to wonder if I'm ever going to actually give birth. sorry, for the whingefest......

try and rest (if you can)i had a really bloody show with baby 3, if you're worried could you call labour ward for advice? take care,

stripeyZ · 07/04/2012 23:36

That's good to know. Just took me be surprise I think as wasn't really expecting that.

Going to get some sleep in hopefully Smile

Babylon1 · 07/04/2012 23:43

I'm ready to pop too and just want him out now!!

mumtorobbie · 08/04/2012 17:14

Woke up at 6am with what I was sure were definite contractions and guess what, they've disappeared now.

On top of that I've got a stinking cold so I'm feeling very sorry for myself at the moment, much to the annoyance to everyone else around me.

I'm going to ring the MW tomorrow to see if I can have one more sweep otherwise its an induction on Fri, which I want to avoid at all costs.

Anyone else had any significant twinges this weekend?

happy easter by the way!

I've been having pretty strong twinges since 4am yesterday, but when I sit down or lay down, they do disappear somewhat, so I'm assuming they aren't contractions - you think I'd know by now huh?!! No3 and all that!!!

I do have increasingly niggly back ache though and that hasn't gone away for last few hours.

Thing is I know if I ring my labour ward, they'll tell me to come in for monitoring as I've lost some waters recently, but if I'm not in established labour they'll then send me home again rather than getting me going IYKWIM Wink

I've already had to go in twice, 1st time wasn't too bad and they admitted me for the night, but second time they left me on monitors for 5 hours before they examined me, then give me A single paracetamol and said they'd get me on a ward by early morning :(. I know they were busy, but it was ridiculous, I can take paracetamol at home!! I only went second time as needed stronger pain relief due to the strong twinges!! Grin

I've also got to sort out my parents coming to look after my DCs if I'm going in to be monitored and I can't help but feel a fraud when I have to call them and say sorry false alarm....... Again!!!

Ideally I'd be opting for a water birth at home, but after massive PPH with dd2, MW and consultant will not support a home birth - which I understand completely!!!

Here's hoping your twinges come back with a vengeance and things get going soon xxx

danielle76 · 08/04/2012 19:03

i had 2 weeps with dd 5, one at 9 days over, did not a thing, had second at 11 days over, mw told me that nothing had changed but to go to bed and rest, as i was booked in to be induced on day 14, that was at 8 pm, dd5 arrived 4 hours later just after midnight, good luck, xx

CruciFlisspaps · 08/04/2012 19:16

babylon just to note, I had a PPH with DD and plan a HWB this time. You can't be refused one and your maternity team are obliged to provide appropriate support for you. Someone on the Yahoo HB group stated that if you've had a previous PPH you have an 85% chance of it NOT happening again, and if it does, then most can be treated safely at home or transfer to hospital.

40+4 here. No signs.

danielle76 · 08/04/2012 19:28

i also had a HB with all 5 of my dc, mw concerned as serious risk of bleeding with 5th pregnancy, was referred to a consultant who gave me the go ahead, as long as i had the placenta injection (sorry forget the name) as i helps to clot, she also said if the worst happened i'd be transfered to hospital, everything went perfectly, no complications at all,

Furni1K · 08/04/2012 19:30

Sounds promising StripeyZ! Best of luck. Hope to follow suit soon myself :)

Babylon1 · 08/04/2012 20:13

Oh thank you for that nugget of info, I never knew that!

I'm seeing my MW on Tuesday and plan to give her an opportunity to sort something for me, that's if I don't produce tonight or tmrw (crosses everything that can possibly be crossed)!!!!

I'm hoping that by this time next wk at very latest I shall have a DS!!!! we'll see huh??!

Flisspaps · 08/04/2012 20:51

Babylon1 Have sent you a pm.

Babylon1 · 08/04/2012 21:02

Ah how do I get them on my iPhone?? New to all this really!!! Sorry!!!

VintageNancy · 08/04/2012 21:33

Also 40+4 today with no signs - well all the same cramps/BHs/twinges I've had for weeks which doesn't count as signs anymore.

I have a midwife appointment tomorrow for a scan and non-stress test (not sure if they do that in the UK or if they do but it's called something else, I'm in the US).

Flisspaps · 08/04/2012 21:49

Babylon1 you can't Sad

mumtorobbie · 09/04/2012 13:53

Just had another sweep but the MW wasn't able to do a full procedure as the head wasn't far enough down but fingers crossed it gets something started.

I'd forgotten just how uncomfortable a sweep is but she said I can have another one on Wed if today's one is unsuccessful.

DD still hasn't turned and is still back to back so looks like my hopes of a hypnobirth are diminishing fast!

I had my gorgeous DS this morning. Feeling a bit shell shocked by it all ad it went tits up. Totally in love with my newborn bundle of loveliness.

Off to the dreaded postnatal ward for monitoring - can't wait to get home & enjoy him properly with DH.

Good luck to all those still waiting. Smile

Flisspaps · 09/04/2012 17:24

StripeyZ congratulations Grin hope it didn't go too tits up, if it did then there are all sorts of things you can get help or advice with if you need it. Enjoy your lovely boy and I hope you are home soon Smile

VintageNancy · 09/04/2012 18:08

Congratulations StripeyZ!

I have just noticed little wet patches on my top - have never leaked colostrum to that extent before. I know it doesn't mean labour is imminent but it's a new sign to get just a little excited about Wink.

mumtorobbie · 09/04/2012 19:53

Ooh congrats stripey! That is fantastic news. Hope you're ok and it didn't go too 'tits up'.

No news is good news from Babylon1 and mumtorobbie I think...

I've had a heavy/periody feeling this afternoon so am sitting on the ball at the PC, but fully expect to do a massive fart when I get off and then find that I feel fine again, so for now I am not moving!
