Did anyone NOT go over-due with their 1st??!!

Just curious...as all my friends went over with their first, normally by about 5-7 days. MW, thinks I might be a little early as head is already nearly fully engaged(35 wks at the mo)...but friends and family say don't hold out much hope, as most people go over?!

Also, do you think if your normal menstrual cycle length is longer than 28 days, you will be more prone to going over-due?

Thanks!

Tortoise · 26/03/2011 23:12

My 1st was born on due date.

freshmint · 26/03/2011 23:13

ps 28 days on the button

Leilababyno1 · 26/03/2011 23:15

usualsuspect- was there any medical reason for you going into labour 4 weeks early? Did they get your dates wrong? That's very early..

15 days early. Must've been all those curries!

Know lots of friends who did go over though.

Prinnie · 26/03/2011 23:16

I was my mums first and was 2 weeks early, all others I know were late though.

MadameGazelle · 26/03/2011 23:16

One day early here, natural labour and delivery; my cycle was and is between 30 and 36 days hth

LawrieMarlow · 26/03/2011 23:17

My first was 11 days early. I did have pre-eclampsia and he was going to be induced but decided to come along of his own accord the day before :)

Next one was 4 days late. Last two weeks of pregnancy felt very long Grin.

ecobatty · 26/03/2011 23:18

Ds1 2 days early. Ds2 1 day late.

With both I was told likely to be very early as was engaged from about 35 weeks (very uncomfortable towards the end).

tah2 · 26/03/2011 23:19

I had my first dd two weeks early. I was so unprepaired because i was convinced i would go over, like you i was told everyone goes over on their first. Congratulations on your pregnancy and good luck with the birth x

row78 · 26/03/2011 23:23

My baby was 3/5ths engaged at 35 weeks and I went 6 days overdue.

lovinme · 26/03/2011 23:26

My 1st was 16 days early and v v quick got to the hospital and she was born 15mins later!

exexpat · 26/03/2011 23:27

My first was a day early, my second nine days late, so the opposite way round you would expect. They were almost identical weights though....

Leilababyno1 · 26/03/2011 23:28

row78- I know, this is what lots of people are telling me. It apparently doesn't make much difference whether baby is engaged early or not on when labour will start!

My first was 11 days early so I was expecting my second to come early too but she was 4 days late. Oh how those last weeks dragged:)

Timbachick · 26/03/2011 23:30

1st was 3 days early. And would have been earlier if it hadn't taken 46 hours to get him out Shock!!!

sharbie · 26/03/2011 23:30

first was one week early second nearly 4 weeks

Leilababyno1 · 26/03/2011 23:31

Narketta I am sure we have met on a thread before (although I would have been in some other incarnation) as we have had the same early and late babies Grin

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 26/03/2011 23:33

First was 2.5 weeks early, second was 1.5 weeks late.

going · 26/03/2011 23:35

1st - 9 days early (head engaged a week before she was born)
2nd - 2 days late
3rd - 9 days early

Narketta · 26/03/2011 23:40

Leila it's rotten isn't it! When DD finally decided she was ready to grace us with her presence she didn't mess around, First contraction at 6.15am delivered by DH on the kitchen floor at 6.59am. Shock:)

Good luck and I wish you a safe and speedy labour.:)

Lawrie I was just wondering if we'd chatted in the past, How old are you DC? It would be an amazing coincidence if they are the same ages.

Mine are 5 and 3. :)
