Did anyone NOT go over-due with their 1st??!!

Just curious...as all my friends went over with their first, normally by about 5-7 days. MW, thinks I might be a little early as head is already nearly fully engaged(35 wks at the mo)...but friends and family say don't hold out much hope, as most people go over?!

Also, do you think if your normal menstrual cycle length is longer than 28 days, you will be more prone to going over-due?

Thanks!

Went into labour 2 days before due date, ds born day before.
Menstrual cycle measured in months not days...

DC1 was 38+1 and my cycle at the time was 32 days.

PrincessScrumpy · 27/03/2011 20:25

My first was 9 days early.

pipoca · 27/03/2011 20:46

I have long cycles and DS was apparently engaged when I had a scan at 34 weeks and he turned up at 36 weeks.

MrsChemist · 27/03/2011 20:51

DS was two weeks early. From about 32 weeks I had a feeling he would be early, though that could have been wishful thinking on my part. I was fed up by 30 weeks.

Midwife said this one would be early too.

SoozleQ · 28/03/2011 01:27

DD was 4 days early. She was breech and never engaged but I still ended up with my waters breaking and being fully dilated before they whisked me off for an EMCS - annoyingly on the same day I would have had a nice calm ELCS if the hospital hadn't cocked up their admin and sent me home because they had already crossed me off their list accidentally!

Niecie · 28/03/2011 01:42

DS1 born on due date.

DS2 was 6 days early.

I do have a short cycle though - 23 days.

I am eternally grateful I didn't suffer the tedium and discomfort of going over due!

bunnygirl80 · 28/03/2011 02:18

DS was born 8 days early

WanderingSheep · 28/03/2011 02:29

With my first I went into labour the day before my due date but she was born the day after due date.

Tortoiseonthehalfshell · 28/03/2011 02:49

Average length of first pregnancy is 41 weeks. I don't know why they tell primagravidas that it's forty; seems like a cruel joke to raise false expectations.

For me: convinced that I would go "overdue" - i.e., on time - and made hair, etc., appointments for "due date" so as to look nice in postnatal period.

Waters broke 38w3d, DD born 39 weeks exactly. So more fool me!

ChopMonster · 28/03/2011 08:14

6 Days early and an 8 hour labour. I was convinced I would go overdue because everyone drums it into you that your first will be late with a long labour.

My cycles were 26 days.

LLKH · 28/03/2011 16:32

dd born 18 days early

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 28/03/2011 16:33

I never went overdue with any of mine - ds1 was born 10 days early, ds2 was a week early and ds3 was 10 days early.

Sorry. Blush

theborrower · 28/03/2011 19:51

everyone kept telling me first babies are overdue - b*llocks. I know several people that were early. I went into labour on my due date, and DD was born early the next morning.

babylann · 28/03/2011 19:52

Went into labour 9 days late. Gave birth 11 days late ;) Sorry!
