Did anyone NOT go over-due with their 1st??!!

Just curious...as all my friends went over with their first, normally by about 5-7 days. MW, thinks I might be a little early as head is already nearly fully engaged(35 wks at the mo)...but friends and family say don't hold out much hope, as most people go over?!

Also, do you think if your normal menstrual cycle length is longer than 28 days, you will be more prone to going over-due?

Thanks!

2 weeks early with my first, normal delivery. 1 week late induced with the 2nd.

LawrieMarlow · 26/03/2011 23:52

Narketta mine are 7 and 5 so we aren't quite rhe same person. Mine are DS then DD - how about yours?

Narketta · 27/03/2011 00:00

DS first and DD second, i was convinced DD was going to be born atleast 3 weeks before her due date because I kept getting regular contractions that would last for hours but then disappear.

startail · 27/03/2011 00:12

My first was ~6 days early. small for dates she was going to be induced in the morning, so DH and I decided to see if the old wives tail about sex inducing labour had any truth in it, Worked like a charm Grin

DD2 was a beautifully easy home birth ~3 days early, didn't need any encouragement.

sprinklingsparkles · 27/03/2011 00:27

With my first i went into labour 2 days before due date, DS was born 2 hours before his due date!

My second was 7 days late of the offical due date! i didnt cope well with going over due! i had convinsed myself throughout my whole pregnancy that they got my dates wrong and she would arrived 2 weeks before they said she would.

My little monkey was 3 days early but had been having blood pressure/protein monitored for 3 weeks everyday - so not totally surprised when I turned up for my normal appointment to be told a consultant was taking over my care oh and by the way - your having a sweep!! Sweep was around 9am (already 3cm dialated) contractions started pretty much straight away.
I knew walking was good to help - so I went shopping alone, my DH was at work, finally gave in and went home around 1pm and called him, had DS the following morning at 6.02am in theatre with vountouse.

good luck!!

3 days earlier than due date too. Period cycle was about 28-30 days. My mw said a regular period could mean I'd go close to due date but reckon this is an old wives tale.

MarioandLuigi · 27/03/2011 08:14

DS1 was 3 days early, DS2 was 6 days late.

Jazmyn · 27/03/2011 08:26

My first was 3 weeks early and surprisingly easy!

curiositycat · 27/03/2011 08:31

11 weeks early in my case.

bulby · 27/03/2011 08:31

1 day early and I come from a family of people who go very overdue ( brother was 3 weeks late!.....that would n't happen today though) also very fast labour.

tvfriend · 27/03/2011 08:36

1st- 4 weeks early
2nd- 5 and a half weeks early

GeekLove · 27/03/2011 09:46

My first was 1 week early but my second was 9 days late! Felt like I was going to be pregnant forever!

Metalhead · 27/03/2011 11:29

Mine was born 5 days early, and her head had not been engaged before I went into labour. I also used to have really long cycles before I got pregnant, so don't think that's got anything to do with it!

hallamoo · 27/03/2011 12:15

Mine have started off being early but have been progressively later each time!

DD1 - 2 weeks early, normal hospital delivery (looong labour though!) Head engaged at 32 weeks.
DD2 - 1 week early, normal hospital delivery in 2 hours with G&A
DD3 - 40+4, lovely home birth with G&A in 3 hours
DS1 - Currently 30+6, no signs as yet, expecting to go a week over now, by the pattern set by the others!

Good luck with your pregnancy & birth!

AllSheepareWhite · 27/03/2011 12:18

5 days early, went for a long walk, labour started that evening.

MrsGubbins · 27/03/2011 13:00

DD arrived 3 mins past midnight on her due date so she just made it!

gallicgirl · 27/03/2011 13:10

I found the stats for due dates when I was pregnant (8 days over with my 1st)
and I think 5% are born on their due date, and of the other 95%, 70% are born after their due date so basically there's a pretty high chance your baby will be born after the due date.

It astonishes me that docs like to insist on inductions based on a due date when the maths is so obviously faulty and inaccurate.

clarkland · 27/03/2011 13:55

6 days early with first DD. Currently 4 days overdue with second!!!!!

Ooopsadaisy · 27/03/2011 14:03

DS was born at 37 weeks. (First DC).

Just got a bit bored up there, I guess.

DD born at 39 weeks. (Second DC).

SkaterGrrrrl · 27/03/2011 14:06

Me! DD arrived on due date.

camdancer · 27/03/2011 15:35

I went into labour with both mine 4 days early. DS (DC1) was born 2 days early and DD born 4 days early.

btw, my cycle length is between 35 and 75 days. My due dates were pretty accurate as I charted.

Elsjas · 27/03/2011 17:21

First born on due date. Waters broke at 2 mins past midnight on the due date, so spookily on time. Second was ten days late.

kirrinIsland · 27/03/2011 17:25

DD was 5 days early, and not engaged at all when checked the previous week.

MittzyBittzyTeenyWeeny · 27/03/2011 17:46

Both mine were early Smile DS now 13 by about 10 days and DD now 8 by about 5.
