I have been diagnosed with grade 1 Non specific type breast cancer today with dcis in situ. Lymph nodes clear from ultrasound.

I am massively worried. has anyone had any experience of this?

@ohdoriswheresthesaladno nothing, just literally told that my oncotype score was 14 and I didn’t need chemo. Said I am to expect an appt for a CT scan and then will have the radiotherapy (10 sessions) and then start tamoxifen a week after. So I’m just waiting for next appts to drop

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 28/01/2026 22:59

Ah ok so we’re at the same stage kinda then. All such a lot of information to take in all at once but in another breath not much!

How’s it going @ohdoriswheresthesalad?

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 03/02/2026 15:36

I’m good. I have my ct scan on Thursday so hoping to see some movement with radiotherapy then. Hope you’re feeling ok x

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 03/02/2026 18:06

CT scan? What’s that for? Xx

OP posts:
LoudSnoringDog · 03/02/2026 23:01

In advance of the radiotherapy. I think it’s to target the treatment properly

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 04/02/2026 20:37

@LoudSnoringDogos that more results we need to wait for before radiotherapy starts? I phoned oncology today and they have no record of me or anything. Very annoyed!

OP posts:
LoudSnoringDog · 04/02/2026 20:46

No I’m not expecting any additional results. More so it’s advance planning for radiotherapy. I think they target the site and put a small tattoo dot so they know where to put the radiotherapy beam. How bloody annoying they can’t locate your details???

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 04/02/2026 21:31

Ahhh ok I understand more now. I know I’m not happy. I’ve left a message with the BC nurses to call me back and why, and the oncology secretary was going to chase up. My tamoxifen prescription isn’t at GP either, neither oncology nor my docs have had a letter regarding next steps.
In getting anxious again now, it’ll be 8 weeks on the 16th from my surgery. Yours must be coming up to 8 next week? @LoudSnoringDog

I had radiotherapy in November without tattoos. At my hospital you have a choice and as I don’t have any tattoos before, and I would rather not have any reminders, however small. They used 3 stickers to line me up instead.

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 05/02/2026 12:29

Just heard my referral is now with oncology thank goodness. Hopefully get a call soon.

I had my ct scan today to site my radiotherapy. All very straight forward. Radiotherapy starts Feb 17th

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 05/02/2026 16:10

Oh that’s good news. Least you have a date now! Is yours 3 weeks long, Monday to Friday? Were you given times etc to turn up each day?
was the appointment ok today?
sorry for all the questions! @LoudSnoringDog

I have 4 sessions one week, then 5 the following week and then 1 the week after. I’ve got the time for the first one but will get the rest sent out to me. It was absolutely fine. The only part I found distressing was being in the actual cancer centre and the sheer volume of people there. Made me feel really sad. Fuck cancer. It’s such a shit.

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 05/02/2026 17:44

Oh ok, was that what you were told originally the sessions or was it different?
oh bless you, I bet it was. It is a shit. a fucking shitting piece of shit with a side of extra shit for good measure.

I went to a work meeting today just a general one and I felt so shit after. They were on about sickness and that and I felt like it was aimed at me. Prob wasn’t but I felt so bad and guilty like I’m letting everyone down especially clients.

I’m really lucky as my manager used to be a breast cancer specialist nurse so she’s told me I need to be off again for a few weeks when having radiotherapy. Thankfully she’s understanding and is being strict with me.
I was told 10 sessions but I’d expected it over two weeks. They said today that all slots for the 16th were full so needed to do it this way or if I was really set on 5 and 5 then they would start the week after but I said no.

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 05/02/2026 21:27

Ah I see yeah.
I was told 15 sessions over 3 weeks initially so we’ll see what materialises from my appointment.

Work haven’t actually said anything to me directly but you know when you get the “all the sickness is impacting clients, office staff, care staff everyone needs to pull together”.
they’ve been good but I just have this massive guilt. I’m not going back til I feel “well” enough physically and mentally. Everyone keeps saying “back to normal” but I have no idea what bloody normal is anymore!

Hey everyone hope you’re all doing ok!

has anyone claimed any help whilst having treatment/been diagnosed ? Like universal credit, grants or had a work capability assessment?
aomeome told me I should apply and also speak to council to get a reduction on council tax?

LoudSnoringDog · 15/02/2026 11:05

Hi @ohdoriswheresthesalad have you had your appt yet? X

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 15/02/2026 15:06

Hey @LoudSnoringDog
nope. 5th March is my first oncology appointment!
I’ve been told I’m looking at easter to start radiotherapy. Haven’t even got my tamoxifen prescribed yet!
how are you doing? Yours starts Tuesday doesn’t it?

OP posts:
LoudSnoringDog · 15/02/2026 17:32

Yes start my radiotherapy on Tuesday and the oncologist said I should start my tamoxifen a week after my last radiotherapy session

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 15/02/2026 19:52

See it’s so different isn’t it at different hospitals. My BCN told me to start them as soon as they were ready! What do I do!

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 18/02/2026 09:50

@LoudSnoringDoghow was your first appointment yesterday xx

OP posts:
LoudSnoringDog · 18/02/2026 16:45

Hi it was fine. All very straight forward. Was there approx 30 mins. Had my 2nd session today and that was about 15 mins. It’s literally like having a scan. I feel fine. I went to a HIIT class last night and just about to get ready to go to body pump. I’m dreading the tamoxifen so doing all I can to be healthy
