I have been diagnosed with grade 1 Non specific type breast cancer today with dcis in situ. Lymph nodes clear from ultrasound.

I am massively worried. has anyone had any experience of this?

I’m getting worried now!

I’m having a panic today about the upcoming appointment next week.
I keep thinking its going to end up worse and in my nodes and the margins aren’t clear 😭
I’ve been fine the last week, recovering super well no pain or anything. Today I’ve read a story and it’s absolutely thrown me!

I’m feeling EXACTLY the same. Convinced it’s worse than it is. I get it completely

There’s no rhyme or reason to the thoughts though.

From what I know grade one to three is curable , what has your oncologist said to you ?

Holymess · 11/01/2026 18:57

Please stay strong what treatment have you been given and what did the oncologist say, as I said from what I'm told stage one to three is curable there is so much new treatment x

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 11/01/2026 19:50

@Holymess
hello!
yes grade one, no staging yet as only 3 weeks tomorrow post op. Pathology 15th Jan
I don’t have an oncologist? It’s the breast consultant who deals with it.

OP posts:
Holymess · 11/01/2026 20:11

So do you get your results on the15th, and how are you feeling after the operation, I do believe you are going to be fine and stronger than ever, from what you say it's stage one so they caught it early all positive news to that, second positive is they operated, third you haven't said that you had chemo is that to come , did they mention it or radiotherapy after operation can you remember, as I know it can be overwhelming,

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 11/01/2026 22:17

@Holymessyeah, final pathology the 15th.
I feel absolutely fine after op, haven’t had any pain, just aching which I can deal with. Bruising nearly gone and steristrips just about holding on.
chemo was mentioned as a passing comment, as a “it’s possible but unlikely” but the plan from word go was - MRI ✅ Lumpectomy ✅ radiotherapy and hormone tablets. So the first 2 have been spot on, just need to hope the rest of the plan is on the same path.
I do feel much better and calmer in myself, I feel the worst is over the cancer is out. The next bit is “belts and braces” as my consultant called it.
I have a tendency to catastrophise ALOT so I’ve tried not to after this stage. But it’s hard to not think and worry.

@ohdoriswheresthesalad thank you!!!

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 13/01/2026 09:38

@LoudSnoringDogwhat times your appointment? Is someone going with you? Xx

OP posts:
LoudSnoringDog · 13/01/2026 15:31

apt was at 1030. Good news!
no further surgery required.
im writing it as it is on my care plan-
grade 2
ductal
23mm
hormone receptor positive
her2 negative
lymph node clear
Margins clear
PLAN
Oncotype test to assess if chemotherapy would be any benefit
radiotherapy
endocrine treatment

so essentially there was no spread outside of the tumour. Nothing had gone as far as my lymph nodes. The oncologist has suggested from my histology that cells are sent to America for oncotype testing to see if the score indicates I would benefit from chemo as an adjunct therapy ( I was dreading this but the way it was explained made sense)
I have to wait a couple of weeks for that result to come back. They won’t commence radiotherapy etc without this result. Just need to wait for the test to come back but in the meantime I will expect to receive an appt with my oncologist
I am really relieved

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 13/01/2026 16:18

What good news! I hope you don’t end up with chemo.
thank goodness I’ve been thinking of you all day. How long was you in the appointment?

OP posts:
ohdoriswheresthesalad · 13/01/2026 16:24

Lots more waiting though isn’t it? I’m on edge already about mine Thursday, I’ll be beside myself with more waiting. Chemo is my absolute nightmare.

OP posts:
LoudSnoringDog · 13/01/2026 16:28

I would say I was in about 40 mins in total. I would like to avoid chemo but if it’s felt necessary then I’ll suck it up! I feel really relieved today and think I’ll sleep well tonight

LoudSnoringDog · 13/01/2026 16:31

Whilst I was typing this post, my appt with the oncologist has come through for next Monday

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 13/01/2026 16:58

No I get that, if it’s needed to save our lives then so be it. Im just a vain cow and don’t want to lose my hair 🤦‍♀️

I’m so pleased you’re relieved. So what would the appointment with oncologist be for? The hormone tablets?
