Just wondering i know there was a thread on this ages ago.

Just wondering if any one else had booked to go.

Will be my first festival - just hoping the weather improves.

Morning!

Bought our tickets this week. Now looking at the long range weather forecast.

Haven't been to a festival in years and this will be the DCs first. DH is a non-camper so I'm really hoping the weather will be dry so I can persuade him that camping is fun.

KnottyLocks · 15/05/2010 16:32

Just us then

Batteryhuman · 15/05/2010 16:33

Me and my DSs. Can't wait!

KnottyLocks · 15/05/2010 16:47

Hurrah!

Have you been before, Battery?

Katz · 15/05/2010 19:29

think on the old thread there were a few people.

I'm really excited, we booked before the line-up was announced and now very pleased as the bands playing are the ones i listened to in sixth form and uni.

Ah, in my age group then!
Have been playing the Dss You tube extracts of said bands.

We bought new sleeping bags for DSs earlier today - they have been practising ever since. Eldest wants to sleep in his tonight.

I think I've whipped them up into a frenzy a tad too early

Katz · 15/05/2010 21:43

possibly i was in the sixth form/uni in the late 1990's.

I need to find my old CD's and put them on the ipod for the girls to get into them.

My girls can't wait to meet Mr Tumble and see the Roald Dahl stuff

I am a bit older then!

This is my third year in succession. My DS3 is now 8 and has a ball. It is such a great environment for kids. No crime and no drugs (apart from the occasional wiff of weed!).

The camping on the rce course is lovely but if you suffer from hayfever bring industrial strngth remedies as I always get taken by surprise by the grass pollen.

How old are your DCs Knotty and Katz? Do you fancy a meetup?

Katz · 16/05/2010 20:22

Mine are 7.5 and one will be celebrating her 5th birthday on the 5th of June - saturday of the festival! Meet up sounds fun.

stripeyknickersspottysocks · 16/05/2010 23:02

Me and DD.

They still haven't sent me my campervan ticket though even though I paid for it all at teh same time. They promised me a week ago it was coming and no sign. Must ring 'em tomorrow as I won't be going if it doesn't turn up!

stripeyknickersspottysocks · 16/05/2010 23:05

I saw Sean Ryder on a documentary the other week though and he looks like he weighs about 30stones now. I was a bit shocked.

To be honest I'm not that pleased with the line up, its all a bit dated. Beautiful South and Happy Mondays. I did like them 15/20 years ago but.........

I dunno, sure it will be fun. I am excited about seeing the Levellers and Seth Lakeman's meant to be very good. Just would have liked a bit more "with it" stuff.

minxofmancunia · 16/05/2010 23:18

yes we are going but staying in an apartment in cheltenham town centre as have 3.8 yr old and 8 month dc.

i can't wait! DHs best friend is in a band "sleeping with the fishes" who're playing the main stage on Saturday, look out for them!

KnottyLocks · 17/05/2010 07:38

To be honest, I'm looking forward to the experience and atmosphere more than the music. Although I loved the Happy Mondays and the Levellers are a fun shout-along band I think they may both make me feel a little old now! I'll just have to throw myself into it.
My two haven't camped before but are so excited. DS1 will be a month off being 6 and DS2 will be 3 the week before we go.
We're going with friends who have 2 boys who are slightly younger so we'll have 4 boys age 5 and under. You'll hear us before you see us!

Katz, I think I'm probably closer to Battery in age. My college years were early 90s.

Katz · 17/05/2010 09:53

i have an e-ticket - which is quite scary, i'm scared i'll turn up and not be allowed in!

We have camped once over night before - so this is really our first proper camping experience!

Batteryhuman · 17/05/2010 19:16

Thanks Knotty but my college years were mid 80s! DS1 is 18.

The line up has never had huge names but I have always come away with a bunch of CDs. The Travelling Band and the Epstein on friday I love and Beth Jeans Houghton and Jali Filly Cissoku on Saturday should be lovely. Ade Edmondson and his band are fun and Dreadzone are good for a bop. As Knotty says for me it is more about the atmosphere and the experience than big names.

Katz, I shouldn't worry about the ticket. i left mine at home last year and though I had to buy more as soon as I posted the originals to them they refunded my the full price ones I had bought so i still got the early bird discount.

Katz · 17/05/2010 19:34

we're going for the experience oh and Mr Tumble!

OP posts:
Katz · 30/05/2010 21:40

not long now - have new tent already to go.

OP posts:
shockers · 03/06/2010 09:40

I'm going! Just DS2 (10) and myself. Are you all meeting up? Room for a littleun?

stripeyknickersspottysocks · 03/06/2010 09:47

I'm going, just me and DD (9). Are people meeting up?

I'll be in a blue VW camper van that says "Binka's Bus" on a big window sticker in the back window. So if you see my van and we're in it come and say hello. And if you see a little girl with long hair, glasses and a stripey red wizard's hat that will be DD.

shockers · 03/06/2010 09:55

I'll come and say hello if I see your bus! We have no distinguishing features other than DS's very blonde hair.

Someone on another thread suggested meeting by the Pimms bus... sounded like a fine idea to me.

stripeyknickersspottysocks · 03/06/2010 10:01

MN meet up at the Pimms bus sounds good. What time/which day?

shockers · 03/06/2010 10:37

Are you all there tomorrow? A cool Pimms after tent pitching might be nice. Bout 6pm? Other suggestions welcome!

stripeyknickersspottysocks · 03/06/2010 11:06

Yes, will be there tomorrow. 6:00pm at the Pimms bus sounds ok. Though if Travelling Band are playing at that time I may drag you off to see them!

shockers · 03/06/2010 11:16

It's a date

Make sure your DD wears her hat! I'll be the one hollering "Yoohoo Stripeyknickers... over here!"

stripeyknickersspottysocks · 03/06/2010 12:04

I'll see you there. Anyone else who sees this thread and wants to meet up feel free to drop by.
