After vowing never to go camping EVER AGAIN....

Kbear · 20/05/2009 20:57

the kbears have been invited on a three day camping trip with some friends and we are considering going.

My question... is camping ever worth risking a marriage for?

Wet and Windy Weymouth 2007 was HELL.

It's not going to rain next week is it? IS IT?

cor clever you Peachy!

slubber you need a trailer ours is all ready to go - just need to hitch her up.

and what is this about a side panel?.......

Slubberdegullion · 21/05/2009 14:07

Wow, socialwork eh? I'm very impressed. You always come acrross as such a genuinly lovely person Peachy. Good luck to you.

Lucycat, DH is still digging in firm on the trailer front. I think he is afraid it may be the slippery slope down into EHU, carpets, cofee with whitener already added and of course the dreaded....caravan.

Side panel to match other side panel so we now have a samll porch out the front. Next week's site has banned my utility tent so will need some extra cover to cook the cupasoups out of the blizzards and syphillitic bastard gales.

Slubberdegullion · 21/05/2009 14:08

And yes, I have accidentally failed to mention to DH that I bought it.

silly me.

Peachy · 21/05/2009 14:09

one of these panels slubber?

A windbreak for ponces LOL

Peachy · 21/05/2009 14:11

'cofee with whitener already added'

Dh was given EHU and we will use ot for the summer but only for a central light thing DH fancuies (outwell jobbie). Personally I'm with your DH though Slubber- slippery slope indeed! Next you know it'll be a caravan and spending the first day ojn the roof adjusting the satellite reception (WHY do they do that?)

Lucycat · 21/05/2009 14:12

syphillitic bastard gales. - do you have those on order then?

I won't do carpet either, but a girl has to chill her rose somehow - and with the Euro exchange rate we won't be drinking it in swish riverside cafes this year!

and it doesn't surprise me with your record of illegal tenting purchasing - will dh notice another side to the canopy d'you think?
Where are you heading to? Fisherground?

Slubberdegullion · 21/05/2009 14:14

nope the side panel is... well in reality it is a hideously overpriced triangle of canvas that attaches to the porch bit of the tent, to erm, make a bit of a bigger porch.

it is very TASTEFUL Peachy I'll have you know. I'm doing everything in my power to big my tent up. Our freinds who we are going with have a frikkin Biscaya

arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh

Peachy · 21/05/2009 14:17

Biscaya? It really is poncetastic you know! You need to head here next year and then you'll have supreme Boden Points LOL

I'd never get away with the illegal tent buying but in all fairness I find if I put out bat my eyelids enough I get DH to buy what I want PMSL I dod forego the Outwell Teepee this year but purely on money grounds, dh had agreed to it otherwise

Slubberdegullion · 21/05/2009 14:18

Eskdale. Never been before. I am heartened to see no caravans allowed so will not have to look at folk adjusting their satellite dishes.

I'm sure he will notice Lucycat. I have two bottles of Black sheep on standby. And the nekkid dance of the alluring seven tent pegs

Slubberdegullion · 21/05/2009 14:21

Peachy HOW many tents have you got? You have a serious tent addiction lady.

I have my eyes on some of those fantabulously gorgeous dutch pyramide tents. Thre is a mahoosive thread about them on ukcs that I slobber all over whenever I am feeling down. Thank goodness you have to travel all the way to Holland to buy them or I may have accidentally sold one of my daughters and bought one on the net.

ooh they are LUSH.

Kbear · 21/05/2009 14:26

Kbear slinks away now the "professionals" are here....

bigchris · 21/05/2009 14:29

lol at you guys and snort at the hottest may bank holiday ever

how do you all cope with hangovers when camping is what I'd like to know given the amount of times wine and beer are mentioned on this thread

Slubberdegullion · 21/05/2009 14:30

aww Kbear, don't you be slinking off.

I am such an imposter on the camping threads. It was only a few years a go that I was a fresh faced camping virgin, furiously c&ping top tips on 'how to pack your car' by Peachy and Lucycat (they do it in entirely different ways you know). I still have that document somewhere...

Only the one slubber, Dh sells the rest as we buy new ones LOL

Kbear we have a rear trailer bag thing (fits onto a bracket a bit like a bike rack) and that'sit, car boot is tiny as well so is A Chasllenge LOL; trailer not possible here though (one of those houses right on road and walled in rear garden so we have to make do

to be a professional camper, how cool would that be? Testing out tents and equipment. Bliss.

Slubberdegullion · 21/05/2009 14:31

My sleeping bags don't match!

Proper campers sleeping bags never match

Peachy · 21/05/2009 14:32

The first time we camped as a family in 2004 (I camped many times before DH) we had an Argos tent ew got £35 in a sale, 2 camping chairs orrowed off sister, a one burner stove also borrowed, 2 ready beds, a travel cot and my sisters airbed that stank of cat wee.

Oh how things have changed!

Slubberdegullion · 21/05/2009 14:32

ooh linky linky for the trailer bag doohickey perleese

Peachy · 21/05/2009 14:33

And no ours don't match either,we did just buy ds2 and ds3 Outwell kids camping mats but ds1 has a gelert orange one so no overall colour scheme thank goodness!

Kbear · 21/05/2009 14:33

talk to me about thermarests - someone told me they are fab. Better than camp beds? I am so over airbeds but was going to upgrade to beds on legs!

OP posts:
Peachy · 21/05/2009 14:35

Slubber, on uk campsite shop page, bak rak halfway down

Ours is a Khyam variant but Dh ahd to modify loads with bits of angle, wouldn't recommend ours; bak rak far superior

Slubberdegullion · 21/05/2009 14:37

Well imho thermarests are the best thing to sleep on. Comfy, warm, don't leak and roll up nice and small. They are expensive though, so a bit of an investment.

There is a thread about fat airics atm that people seem to rave about and are cheaper I believe.

Slubberdegullion · 21/05/2009 14:40

Oh I LIKE the bak rak. That looks excellent. Enough room on that for a cob eh?

Peachy · 21/05/2009 14:40

We ahd campbeds Kathy but have replaced them as they took DH ages to put together and at least 7 blisters per bed as well, replacing with airmats seemed like a good way of reducing swearing stress
