littlegreyrabbit · 25/04/2008 22:36

We're at La Garangeoire second 2 weeks of August.

Are only mumsnetters allowed to go there?

Is Boden compulsory?

LovesTents · 25/04/2008 23:13

Hi Anner - have you been before then? Was the weather crap last year?

Hoping to buy the Vermont L , your one certainly looks good , you'll have lots of
room in that!At the mo I'm just worried about fitting it all in the car- aarrgh.

princessmel · 25/04/2008 23:18

We're going to Brittany in about 3 weeks. I hope its warmed up. I think is its called Fousnant.

lilolilmanchester · 25/04/2008 23:26

Eurocamp, Vilanova Park, near Barcelona for us, in a mobile home (and have just ordered my first Boden catalogue littlegreyrabbit!)

Blueskythinker · 25/04/2008 23:38

Off to Deux Fontaines in mid July. Anyone else? Or is it all happening in Vendee?

GrinningSoul · 25/04/2008 23:42

we went to vilanova park in oct. it was great but chilly - jealous of you going in warmer times.

LovesTents · 25/04/2008 23:44

Ahh, you're so not with it Blueskythinker, didn't you know vendee is the place to be this year?

lilolilmanchester · 25/04/2008 23:46

ooh, GrinningSoul, would love some info from you when you have a spare minute - warts and all. Not going til August so no rush!!

CaptainUnderpants · 25/04/2008 23:47

Eurocamp - tent - South of France - St Cyprien - August .

CaptainUnderpants · 25/04/2008 23:48

oops Keycamp

GrinningSoul · 26/04/2008 00:24

vilanova was a really pretty site, with good facilities - outdoor pools were lovely (though i was the only fool brave enough to swim outside in oct). The indoor pool was deep so my little one couldn't go in it - it was more of a 'spa' pool for swimming up and down in and standing under those v strong waterfall things, rather than playing. The shop was really well stocked, the bar was great and we had an unexpectedly good karaoke night there (no singing from us, but lots of hilarity). The restaurant was a bit rubbish. it was chilly so we needed entertainment beyond just relaxing by the pool, and the local area isn't much cop. We had a hire car and went to Barcelona - fab, of course - and PortAventura, which was exactly as you would expect. the PA water park was only open indoors and that was v tatty but outside looked better. the site staff are helpful. we had a VERY small cabin, on a relatively dense avenue right next to the shop. there were much nicer areas near the baseball courts.

lilolilmanchester · 26/04/2008 00:46

Thanks GrinningSoul. We'll have a car and hope to get out and about. Our DCs are 10 and 15, even the younger one's wanting to "hang out" without us once we're back at the site, so sounds like it'll be ideal. Were there restaurants in walking distance outside the site (I'm sure we thought there was but it's a while since we booked!) ("Walking distance" for us is up to 30 minutes as the DCs are older, They'd walk further but I won't!!)

Annner · 26/04/2008 13:13

Lovestents - yes, it was - but not quite as pants as it was here at the same time (Hull getting flooded, etc..) It was a tad too draughty for DS - then immobile - on the beach, as he just had sand blown into his face, and was not a happy baby. It rained quite a lot, too. Not what we had been expecting at all, but once we got home we realised that conditions had been bizarre across the whole of northern Europe. It says a lot for the region that we still want to go back for more this year. We're hoping for some lovely blue sky and warm sun. We're thinking that being further inland (we were on the coast last year) may help this time, even if it is damp and gusty.

How on earth do you get a tent and all the kit in the car? We're struggling with tent and travel cot and high chair (sadly needed -it's the only way that we can be certain he won't bolt at key moments in the day. Or perhaps we should tether him to a post like a goat? What do other people do with frisky toddlers who run off?) That's why we're sticking with Eurocamp for the time being who provide all of tha baby gubbins for us.

Leslaki · 26/04/2008 15:12

We're off to Italeeeee in Aug - dh recently left us so it's me and the dc's!!!! EEK!!!! but can't wait!!! camping Portofelice so if anyone knows anything about it let me know! looking forward to kids club!!!

last year we wetn to raguenes - les deux fontaines - fab place!! Pool is excellent and site is really good for the kids. restauarant and take away were not so good unfortunately so I would recommend stopping at the Champion in Nevez and getting something to BBQ before you get to the site or else stop off at le Dauphin in Nevez and book yourselves in for a meal for your first night - lovely restauarant. We tried to get a meal in the campsite when we arrived and were told we hadn't booked early enough! not cos they were full, don't really know the reason why! they have theme nights so presume they had to buy in exact quantities!! the take away was bad tho - only had it that night and never again!! Apart from that the site was great with loads of open space and we had a lovely holiday!

GrinningSoul · 26/04/2008 19:51

lilo - i don't remember at all, we didn't look - i'm sure there will be MUCH more going on in aug than in oct anyway. for example most of the restaurants in town (which isn't really walkable but a short drive) were shut when we were there. had a LOT of pizza....

try to go to montserrat, by the way. it's geographically staggering and very peaceful and spiritual.

IdrisTheDragon · 28/04/2008 17:57

We're going to the Vendee in August with Keycamp. Can't remember its name though - will check .

IdrisTheDragon · 28/04/2008 18:02

We're going to Garangeoire (seems like we have similar tastes to other Mumsnetters ). Will be getting tips from those going before us .

IdrisTheDragon · 28/04/2008 18:04

littlegreyrabbit we will be there between 10th and 17th August

nikkid21 · 29/04/2008 17:21
