Thanks for the tip, Cod. Are there other restaurants within walking distance, or is everything a drive away?

Cluelessnchaos, that makes four of us going there at the start of July.

I'll be very shy too, Lovestents.

DoubleBluff · 24/04/2008 09:07

We are going to LE Viuex Porte nr Bairitz in August with Keycapm. Cannot wait.

MrsBadger · 24/04/2008 09:10

[coughs]

five of us

we are there too - last wk in June / first in July

I will carry my MN lentil weaver bag at all times (yeah right )

kaz33 · 24/04/2008 09:14

iamdingdong - just about to book Raguenes for the beginning of August. We are Canvas virgins so a little nervous Will my 5 and 7 year old boys love it??

MrsMuddle · 24/04/2008 09:33

Five of us, none of whom have photos on our profiles!

Will we all be sculking around, trying to guess who each other is and trying not to shout at our children in case we are judged and found wanting??

so shall we give clues as to who we are, from any of my posts you can see that I have 3dc, dd1 10, dd2 7, ds 4, and I am scottish, but not very strong accent.

MrsMuddle · 24/04/2008 16:22

this is me last year...

cluelessnchaos · 24/04/2008 16:27

I am so going to avoid you mrsmuddle

Milliways · 24/04/2008 19:50

Doublebluff: We have been to LE Vieux Port twice - it's fab. If you get a chance to drive up into the mountains (the highest train in Europe runs there) you can play on the cable cars and ski lifts in the summer. Well worth the drive, I'll try & find the details if you like.

iamdingdong · 24/04/2008 19:51

kaz33 yes they will have a lovely time

kaz33 · 24/04/2008 20:34

Tent or mobile home??

DoubleBluff · 24/04/2008 21:23

Thanks Milliways. Some friends of mine have been too and they highly rwecommende it.
We are staying in a tent so praying for good weather!

Milliways · 24/04/2008 21:46

We stayed in a (Siblu) van, and some tents did get flooded when we were there one year, others saved themselves by digging trenches but it was freaky rain!

Barbeques are only allowed at central areas, but there are lots of these and they are very social areas.

The forest is great, the most enormous pine cones are all over the place and red squirrels are everywhere. The beach is beautiful and the sea great fun, if incredibly rough at times. Make sure you have a surf/body board. If it gets too much, the saltwater lake is 5 mins away and has a beach, and you can hire pedaloes etc there.

DoubleBluff · 24/04/2008 21:49

Oh no... not frreaky rain!
Bound to hapeen when I am there. Sounds great though.
Is it clean , esp shower blocks etc?

Annner · 24/04/2008 21:50

OK Garangeoire-ers: We have two DCs - DD (3.5) and DS (1.5) We're from darn sarf and have a dark green estate car. DD carries a manky tiger everywhere with her, and DS a blue taggie.

I'll be the one with the large chocolate ice cream who is slightly too large for her Bravissimo swimming cossie.

Oh, and we'll be in a Eurocamp tent. Just look for the nest of empty wine bottles outside. Or perhaps we should carry an empty fruit shoot bottle as a sign...

Milliways · 24/04/2008 21:59

Very clean DB. Have you seen the site website?

They have a lot of entertainment if you like that sort of thing, fun to wander down to and watch some nights.

The only thing we avoided was the Bull Fighting held at the next field!

We drove onto the French/Spanish border at top of nearby mountain where there is a very cheap touristy shopping place as Spanish prices are less than French, was another good day trip.

Milliways · 24/04/2008 22:03

You should also visit the Dune du pyla (largest sand dune in Europe?), which is conveniently next to a large Aqualand!

bigfatbump · 24/04/2008 22:06

We're off to the Vendee, last 2 weeks of July, can't come soon enough, but only if it's warmer than last year, brr.

Anner and the other Garengoire-ees. I am Scottish with two DS 13 & 11.

They'll avoid DH and I like the plague (except when they need money!) so we'll be the chilled out couple lying by the pool with a different book each day. Heck, we might even be conversing with each other!

We will be the ones sitting outside the caravan at night with endless cheese and red wine.

I will also be in Bravissimo, but I'd really be happier in a burkah.

If you do recognise me, please speak to me.

indignatio · 25/04/2008 12:57

So should the password be "Is that a Bravissimo costume you are wearing?" - There is an obvious loophole to this !

LovesTents · 25/04/2008 20:12

Hi all garang-goers,

We have 3 dd's ages 10, 12 and 5

We'll be staying in our own tent, have to buy a new one so don't know what it is yet.

To recognise me look out for the woman trying to stop two dd's ages 10 and 12 from killing each other.

Other than that I'll probably be the one who looks like the single mum by the pool as dh lies in bed all morning , ignoring all children's needs whilst sleeping off hangover

Annner · 25/04/2008 22:29

MrsMuddle - I'd be up for a burkah! Nice variant on the kaftan. T'would have been v welcome, considering how chilly it was last year (fingers crossed...)

I'll be dribbling over other people's books as we chase ds round the pool and try and persuade them to entertain themselves.

I feel that a semi-formal meet one evening in the bar could be in order..... Bravissimo may or may not be worn (I fancy the new sundress meself)

LovesTents - we have just bought this beauty for our UK excursions. We're still just a tiny bit nervous of taking everyone abroad in our own tent until they are old enough to help put it up after a long journey. Can't wait to try it in May, though.
