Put cayenne pepper in your sox. It's cheap and effective.

I've known people who lost toes to frostbite, quite a few of them actually, who passed on the tip to me.

MrsBadger · 02/06/2007 22:45

I have just had the best week's camping ever

we had radiators

and real mattresses

it was truly plush

although to be fair it wasn't strictly camping
but was in fact a narrowboat

(after last year's 'Badgers' Tent Collapses In IoW Gale' fiasco we don't get the tent out till July at the earliest)

Peachy · 02/06/2007 22:46

I've also done the rekking ExPat and no I dont NEED carpet

but it seems to help

so why on earth not?

Why is it worse than shaking cayenne into socks??

It works and I like it which is fine by me

Each to their totally not-harming-anyone-else own and all that

expatinscotland · 02/06/2007 22:46

NO, sally! I'm not pissed.

I'm just started a one-woman war against the evils of carpet and wallpaper.

expatinscotland · 02/06/2007 22:46

Did you know that a cockroach can live off wallpaper glue alone?

squidette · 02/06/2007 22:46

wallpaper

Carpet = bad.

Wallpaper = bad.

Caravan = good.

Tent = bad.

Peachy · 02/06/2007 22:48

Well strictly speaking mine is rubber with a fleece coating rather than soggy carpet

I have no idea why I am getting defensive I mean, its a carpet!! I dont need no permission to have it

I want it

DH and I get a saddo kick out of having The Kit of The Moment

Done the backpacking, done the cold arse in the niddle of dartmoor

now I do it my way

expatinscotland · 02/06/2007 22:48

Off 16 June for self-catering cottage up north.

Got it even cheaper because it's 18 miles to anywhere .

Also I made sure it only had carpets in the bedrooms .

expatinscotland · 02/06/2007 22:49

My way is a caravan with heater or self-catering cottage in the sticks.

Peachy · 02/06/2007 22:49

Yeesh

Alla rguments blown out of the water in one statement!

I remember the ex telling me, It's only 4 miles and 1000 feet of gain (elevation).

Fucking LIAR!

8 miles in, 2200 feet of gain, bloody camp at 11,000 feet so I Cheyne-Stoked all night, too.

All so he could climb fucking Lizard Peak.

Aitch · 02/06/2007 22:54

would not have predicted this for kicking off...

Peachy · 02/06/2007 22:55

Come on Aitch you've been on MN long enough to know this is NOT a kick off LOL!

And anyway I have a bloody great smile at the moment- ooooh I love the attention me!!!!

More threads about me would suit me just fine

Kick off on the magic carpet!

expatinscotland · 02/06/2007 22:58

Aye, Aitch, this is mere patter!

Poor Peachy, so British, she can't even camp w/o a carpet!

Peachy · 02/06/2007 22:58

Actually ExPat ds1 is looking at a climbing course they do on the campsite we were at thsi week, for a couple of years time- its near Cheddar and a good mate is a caving instructor there so I am inclined to encourage him (plus he's incredibly physically able).

Peachy · 02/06/2007 23:00

How do you KNOW I'm Bristish?????? Eh??????

Ok I am

Trust me the carpet is a recent introductioon LOL! By about 8 weeks, and i've been camping 21 years.

Still like it though- we camp a LOT and early on (March) so inulation = good.

Aitch · 02/06/2007 23:00

put cayenne pepper in his socks, peachy. LOL.

expatinscotland · 02/06/2007 23:01

My ex came to climbing from caving, Peachy, and let me tell you, cavers are amazing when they climb rocks because they've already got a real respect for the wilderness and safety.

He'd have fun and a laugh, Peachy! He'd probably really enjoy it.

And he already knows how to abseil and trust his harness and gear!

Peachy · 02/06/2007 23:01

Er no, ds1 would try and eat it!
